CHAPTER 5

“I was in love with your mom, she was so beautiful, hardworking and intelligent, I loved her with all I had as mine, she was in love with me too and we both will always plan our future together. Her friends were really envious and wanted to put us asunder, we both fought for the success of our relationship, though man predict but God have the final say .” He said. Trying to use his words wisely such that he will not end up hurting Kai because that is what he have been avoiding. Anxious to know the truth and the identity of his mom, Kai encourages his dad with the word “ Interesting story dad”.

We both had plans spending our lives together he continued. I invited her to my place on her birthday, I made a surprise for her , we were just the two of us and no third party, she was so happy and we celebrated her day together, we had some drinks and she decided to spend the night over at my place. So we had fun that night and I made love to her and that was our first intimacy together, she was still a virgin and she got pregnant for me.

We were sad because of this pregnancy. This is because we thought it was going to interrupt her studies but we decided to keep this pregnancy and she will further her studies once she put to birth.

Your mom put to birth a baby boy and we decided to call our baby Kai, I did everything to see her happy during that period, we both were living together already and we wanted to raise our baby together. The pressure of friends made her abandon our 3 months old baby and ran away to enjoy the materials of the world. I went for work and returning home, I met our baby Kai on the bed crying helplessly, his mother was not around so I thought she might be in the bathroom taking a bath, I waited till no avail, as I approached the sitting room, I met a letter that she dropped on my seat saying that she’s tired and she’s not ready to be a mother. She is sorry but she won’t be coming back so I should take good care of my baby. She stated her reasons saying that she is still too young to be call a married woman and that was exactly how your mom left us.

Before Kai’s dad could finish narrating the story, Kai’s eyes were filled with uninvited tears and he felt bad for his dad. Hey! Please stop crying, his father pleaded, I took care of you my own way, I lost my job during that period because I could not take you to my workplace and I could not abandon you alone at home, I was scared of employing a nanny for you , my friends encouraged me to take you to the orphanage, but my love for you made me lost everything. Your mom is still alive and I will take you to her incase you wish to see her , if that will make you happy, I have always wish to give you the best and I can’t deprive you from your mom, but always remember that I love you so much.

But daddy! “Kai burst out in tears, since then didn’t she bother to check on me? Why was she that heartless and wicked towards me? She should have terminated me , why did she do it? Simply because of the love of pleasure and the pressure from her friends? Meaning her friends were more important than my life and you daddy?” Kai asked with tears flowing freely from his eyes, “you have to stop this Kai, you should be strong as I am , that’s her life and you have your own life to work on too. Please stop the tears and I promise I will take you to your mom. We will go see her this weekend and you can spend time with her , you can sleep at her place if you wish”. Kai’s dad suggested. Never! Kai said angrily, “I will never wish to see that woman, I don’t want to know her, my mother is not alive, I know just you dad, let her continue with her life.” Kai argued!

“According to her actions, I don’t worth life dad, I shouldn’t be counted among those existing, she’s not my mother and she will never be. Daddy you are my father and mother and nobody can convince me anymore. I hate her,”he said in bitterness.

Kai have never been this mad all his life, this is the very first time that his dad is seeing him this way, he finds it difficult calming him down now and he burst out in tears too. He is confused and can’t figure out what he can do exactly to help the situation. Kai, stop cursing her, she is still your...! Enough daddy! “She’s not my mother and will never be . Kai interrupted.” Excuse me daddy, I wish to be alone, we will talk tomorrow please dad. He said and walk away.

Kai’s dad is confused and regretting why he had tell him the truth, but he is free because he will not have his son asking him questions about his mom again so now he just need to look for a means to make his son calm down and be happy again. He wipe his tears and walked away.

Nyla is up from the nap and her mom is not home yet, she decided to take a bath and do her assignments. Her dad enters and was impressed with her seriousness when its comes to her studies. “My daughter is always studying” he said. Looking up and seeing her dad, “I want to make you proud daddy”. Nyla said while walking towards her dad and they hugged each other. “I will never disappoint you daddy.” Nyla promised.
