Se connecterAs I sat in the car on the way to the airport, I couldn't help but think about Rave's betrayal.
To be honest, I wasn't hurting that much anymore. I was just angry that I had allowed myself to be hurt like that, and I pitied myself because I had believed I was enough. But apparently, I wasn't. He still looked for another woman to fulfill what he thought I lacked.
I told myself I wouldn't get into another relationship anytime soon. My heart wasn't ready. But why did it feel like I was slowly falling again?
And the worst part was... I was falling for my boss. I didn't know when it started. Maybe when he took care of me. Or maybe I had been feeling this way for a long time and only realized it now.
“Are you okay, Ma'am?” Renje asked.
My thoughts were interrupted. I tore my gaze away from the window and looked at him.
“Y-Yes, I'm fine,” I replied with a forced smile.
“I've just noticed something... Boss seems to treat you differently, Ma'am.”
I froze.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
He scratched the back of his head and chuckled awkwardly.
“It's nothing. Just forget I said anything.”
I let out a sigh and turned my attention back to the scenery outside. There was so much on my mind.
When we arrived at the airport, I stepped out of the car. Renje carried my luggage as we headed toward the private jet, where Sir Azrael was already waiting with several bodyguards.
My heart skipped a beat the moment I saw him.
His posture was flawless, and he carried himself with effortless confidence.
“G-good morning, sir,” I greeted him.
But he didn't even look at me.
Instead, he turned to Renje.
“Take the luggage to the jet. We're leaving now,” he said coldly.
Embarrassment washed over me. I bit my lip and quietly followed him inside.
Renje and the other guards loaded our luggage while I tried to hide the sadness that suddenly settled in my chest.
When we reached the jet, I couldn't help staring at it.
“Wow...” I whispered.
“What are you doing? Come in,” Sir Azrael called.
He boarded first, and I followed behind him, but he still didn't acknowledge me.
“What about the guards?” I asked after noticing they weren't coming with us.
“They'll take another plane.”
“What a waste of money,” I muttered under my breath.
“Welcome, Mr. Cervantes,” one of the flight attendants greeted.
Several staff members carried our luggage inside while Sir Azrael and I took seats across from each other, separated by a small table.
“Would you like something to drink, sir?” the attendant asked.
“Wine will be fine.”
“And you, ma'am?”
“I'm fine, thank you,” I replied with a polite smile.
A few moments later, the attendant returned with his wine. Sir Azrael quietly sipped his drink while I stared out the window.
I wanted to talk to him, but it felt as though there was an invisible wall between us.
He was avoiding me.
Without realizing it, I fell asleep.
I only woke when I heard the attendant's voice.
“Sir, Ma'am, please fasten your seatbelts. We'll be landing shortly.”
“So soon?” I murmured.
I glanced at Sir Azrael. He was still focused on his laptop.
“Put on your seatbelt,” he said without taking his eyes off the screen.
I quietly obeyed.
When we stepped off the jet, a car was already waiting for us.
The bodyguards had arrived too.
“They're fast,” I whispered in amazement.
“Welcome, Boss,” Renje greeted.
“We're heading to the hotel,” Sir Azrael instructed.
Renje nodded and drove us there.
When we arrived at the hotel, Sir Azrael excused himself, saying he had somewhere to be.
That left me alone in the hotel room.
With nothing else to do, I decided to go to the pool.
I just wanted to clear my head. There were already too many things weighing on my mind.
Since no one else was around, I simply wore my swimsuit.
I was floating peacefully when I noticed someone walking toward me.
Sir Azrael.
I shot upright in surprise, suddenly unsure which part of my body I should cover first.
“You really love disobeying me, huh?” he smirked.
He had told me to stay inside the room, but I hadn't listened.
“Leave,” I said without looking at him.
He only smiled.
He took off his jacket and jumped into the pool.
I gasped as he swam toward me.
“Why? This is my pool, so why should I leave?” he teased.
I tried to move away, but he immediately wrapped a hand around my waist.
Gently, he brushed the damp strands of hair away from my face.
“I already told you to tie your hair up. I want to see your face,” he said.
His fingers slowly traced the side of my waist.
I tightened my grip on the edge of the pool.
My gaze drifted to his lips. He ran his tongue over them before suddenly lifting me into his arms.
“Sir Azrael!” I cried out in surprise.
He simply smiled as though carrying me like that was the most natural thing in the world.
He sat me on the edge of the pool before positioning himself between my legs.
“I'm sorry,” he whispered.
“I didn't go to the club last night. I was just teasing you.”
I froze.
His trip to the club had been bothering me since last night.
Suddenly, my chest felt lighter.
I hadn't realized how heavily it had weighed on me until now.
“I never asked,” I muttered.
“Move away.”
I tried to push him back, but he didn't budge.
“So this is how you act when you're jealous?” he laughed.
My lips parted.
“I'm not jealous. Go back there if you want. I don't care!”
He raised both hands in surrender.
“Okay, okay. Chill. You're not even pregnant yet, and you're already this feisty.”
I froze.
Pregnant?
I suddenly fell silent.
He noticed immediately.
He reached up, gently held my chin, and made me look at him.
“Are you okay?”
I shook my head.
“I'm not pregnant...”
But he clearly wasn't convinced.
“We're not sure yet,” he said.
“I already said I'm not—”
My words died in my throat when he leaned closer.
“Shh...” he murmured in a husky voice.
“You're too worked up. It's rubbing off on me.”
I swallowed hard.
His gaze drifted down to my chest.
My swimsuit clung to me, leaving little to the imagination.
“I'm the only one who should get to see you dressed like this,” he said possessively.
“Baby...” he whispered.
He cupped the back of my neck and slowly drew me closer until his s
oft lips met mine.
Every kiss was unhurried. Slow. Gentle. It was at that moment I realized how much I had missed him. What was this feeling?
He pulled away and looked into my eyes. “Be my woman, Canna,” he whispered.
I was seething with anger as I made my way toward Mr. Cervantes's study.A wide smile spread across his face when he saw me. He set down the newspaper he was holding and gave me his full attention.“You're here, just as I expected,” he said.“You're a terrible person! How could you…” Tears streamed down my cheeks before I could even finish my sentence. My family was my weakness. Although Scaxy was only my cousin, I had always considered her my sister. She had been my family ever since I lost my parents. That was why it hurt so much to see her suffering.“I told you, young lady. Your family will pay the price. I wasn't joking when I threatened you,” he said with a smirk. My eyes narrowed. I wanted to lunge at him, but I forced myself to hold back.I had to be careful with every move I made. I knew that a single order from him could put my cousin's life in danger.“Please… punish me instead. Don't drag my family into this,” I pleaded, my voice trembling so badly that I could barely hear
“If you refuse the money, your family will suffer. I’ll make sure you lose your job at the company, and no other company will ever hire you. You and your poor family are going to suffer for the rest of your lives,” he threatened. My breathing quickened with anger. If I didn’t think carefully, I would surely lose whatever respect I had left for the man standing before me.“Will you accept the money, or will you suffer? Choose wisely, Ms. Villegaz,” Mr. Cervantes said, staring at me as though his eyes were filled with nothing but hatred.I shook my head and laughed bitterly. I wasn’t so shallow that I would give in to his demands.“Is that a threat?” I asked bravely.I held his gaze, refusing to back down.“If that’s the case, then I’m sorry to say this, but it’s not possible. I don’t need your money. I may be poor, but I still have my dignity. And my family? You can never do anything to them. I’m sure of that.”I put emphasis on every word, wanting him to understand that I wasn’t the k
My hands were growing cold with nervousness. It wasn't my first time visiting the Cervantes mansion. Sometimes, Azrael's younger sister would invite me over whenever she had no office hours at the mansion. She enjoyed spending time with me.I should have been used to coming here by now, but this was the first time I would be facing Azrael's father not as his secretary, but as his girlfriend.I could count on one hand the number of times I had seen his father. Even from his face alone, it was easy to tell that the older Mr. Cervantes was a strict man. When we arrived at the mansion, the gate automatically opened, allowing Azrael to drive into the compound.Azrael got out first and opened the door for me. He extended his hand, which I accepted with a smile. As we entered the mansion, the servants were lined up in the living room.“I'll inform the chairman of your arrival, sir,” one of the maids said.“There's no need.” Mr. Cervantes spoke as he appeared in the living room.My heart poun
“Pervert.” I rolled my eyes at him.The man smirked and pulled me closer, placing his hand on my waist. My hands landed on his chest. Azrael wasn't wearing a shirt, allowing me to admire his well-built physique freely.“You look so hot, baby…” he whispered, brushing his lips against mine.“Are you really going to be this naughty?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.“I can be naughty for you,” he said before claiming my lips. His kisses trailed down my neck and stopped just above my chest, which was still covered by the towel.“Azrael… Stop. I need to get dressed,” I said, trying to hold him back.We would surely end up in bed again if I didn't stop him.He gazed at me with hooded eyes.“Should we cuddle? Or watch movies before we go to bed?”I was tempted to watch something with him, but I was genuinely sleepy. I hadn't gotten a decent night's sleep yesterday because of Azrael.“I'd love to watch a movie, but I'm sleepy,” I said with a yawn, trying to move away from him.Azrael nodded. “Oka
The two of us fell silent after I said those three words. I felt Azrael's hand loosen around my waist. He looked at me, his mouth slightly agape in surprise.“I love you,” I repeated, in case he hadn't heard me clearly.“Canna…” he whispered, as if he didn't know what to say.He pulled back slightly and gazed at me. I saw the surprise in his eyes, but happiness shone even brighter. It was as if he still couldn't believe it. I love him? Had I really just said those words? He simply smiled at me, gazing into my eyes as if he didn't want this moment to end. I never expected us to reach this point, either.“Wait—” I didn't get to finish my sentence because he suddenly scooped me into his arms.I instinctively wrapped my arms around his shoulders and my legs around his waist. I was startled, but before I could protest, he was already kissing me.I didn't stop him. Instead, I kissed him back and clung tightly to him as he carried me back into the bedroom. I could feel both our hearts poundi
The sun was already high when I woke up. Frowning, I rubbed my eyes and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already past ten in the morning.I immediately tried to sit up, but I stopped when I felt Azrael's arms tightly wrapped around my waist.I glanced back at him. He was still fast asleep, holding me from behind. He looked just as exhausted as I was. He had barely given me a break last night. We had gone on until past four in the morning. I had lost count of how many times we had made love.I carefully slipped out of his embrace, not wanting to wake him. Once I was finally free, I quickly got out of bed. I pulled away the blanket covering my body and was surprised to find myself wearing Azrael's shirt. My skin didn't feel sticky, either, so he must have cleaned me up last night. When I tried to stand, I let out a small groan of pain and sank back onto the bed.I glanced at Azrael, feeling slightly annoyed. I wanted to scold him, but I couldn't bring myself to wake him up just
