The heat from the fire touched the skin from afar. It scorched, made it burn, but as soon as you turned away, you again plunged into the cool of the night.

On the edge of the forest behind our houses, we built a huge fire, its flame seemed to reach to the very heavens. Sparks rose, and they could no longer be distinguished from the stars.

Everyone was here, even the children who were supposed to sleep. The elders sang old mournful songs until Rock began to dance to shake off the sleepy spirit.

“Stop howling,” Ba interrupted and clapped her hands. - Turn on your hurdy-gurdy.

Rock, as if waiting for a signal, immediately connected the speaker. The sound of incendiary music resounded throughout the district. Alien to the silent forest, but so suitable for dancing.

Martha and I spun happily and started dancing around the fire. Soon only the old people were left sitting, and all the rest were rushing around the fire in a frantic dance. We danced, changed in pairs, moving towards each other
