Chapter 6

Author: Jasmine Flower
After I arrived in Antarctica, I threw myself into research right away.

The land stretched endlessly in white—cold, vast, silent. My wolf form bounded across the snow, carefree and wild, chasing flurries that danced like spirits in the wind.

Here, there was no deceit, no scheming—just me and nature, stripped bare of everything else.

Every day was full and exhausting, but in a way that made me feel alive. My work consumed me completely.

Then one day, my professor called.

"Zoe, how have you been lately?" His voice carried a hint of warmth.

"I'm fine," I said with a smile. "The research is going well."

He paused awhile. I could hear the hesitation through the static.

"Zoe… your fathers are looking for you."

My chest tightened.

"They've searched every corner of the Silver Moon Pack territory," he continued softly. "Even the Northern Alliance is involved."

I froze. The words struck something deep and unsteady inside me.

Were they looking for me because I'd left—or because they f

"I'm going to the research institute to find Zoe!" Bran shot to his feet, voice tight with panic.Jeff and Kael exchanged a look and stood up almost at the same time, determination flashing in their eyes."We're going with you."Arie froze for a second. Then her eyes filled with tears."You're… not staying with me?" she whimpered, her voice trembling. "What if some rogue wolves attack me? I'll be in danger."Kael frowned, clearly running out of patience. "Arie, we'll leave warriors here to protect you. Stay home. Don't go out."He didn't even look back as he walked out the door. Jeff and Bran followed close behind. They sped all the way to the academy—only to find it empty."Zoe hasn't been around lately," my roommate said, confusion flashing across her face. "I heard she joined some kind of research project." Her gaze sharpened. "You're her fathers, aren't you? You didn't know?"The three men fell silent, their faces darkening with shame.Jeff's brows furrowed. A cold sense

Inside the villa, Arie clung to Jeff and Kael, begging them to tell her a story. The sound of laughter echoed through the room. The bedroom I left behind—my room—had finally been given to her.It was late when Arie finally fell asleep. Jeff and Kael tiptoed out of the room, realizing that I hadn't called once."She still hasn't called back?" Jeff frowned, dialing my number again, only to find the line dead.Kael waved him off, indifferent. "Hmph. She just wants us to go to the lab and bring her home ourselves. Classic push and pull—just another manipulation tactic. Don't bother with her. Give it a few days—she'll come crawling back."But Bran frowned, unease flickering in his eyes. "I don't know… Something about this doesn't feel right."Kael snorted. "What could possibly be wrong? I saw her get into a guy's car with my own eyes. She's found herself a new protector.""Let her go," Jeff muttered. "Once she's had her fill of hardship out there, she'll come home soon enough."…T

Jeff stopped at the doorway, pulling Arie back beside him. His eyes were cold, distant—like he was looking at a stranger, not his own daughter.Arie's face, on the other hand, was bright with expectation—expecting me to finally disappear."I…"For a second, I almost told them the truth. But then I remembered what Kael had said yesterday: Forget it. Whatever it is, it's none of our concern. The words hit me again like a slap. I swallowed my explanation before it could leave my throat. If I walked away quietly, I could tell myself later that they didn't know—not that they didn't care."I've been busy with work at the research institute," I said finally. "I'll be staying there for a while…"Jeff's glare sharpened. "So when you said you'd never come back, who exactly were you trying to threaten? Talking like that to Omegas—what, do you want everyone to think you're being mistreated?" His voice rose into a roar.Bran gave a cold laugh. "If you want to leave, then leave. No one's goi

"Zoe, what trick are you pulling now?" Jeff's sharp, wary eyes swept over me as he pulled Arie behind him protectively.I couldn't blame him for being on guard. The necklace in my hand wasn't just any jewelry—it was the gift my three fathers gave me when I first transformed at fifteen.Yes, I awakened my wolf early. I was the most promising female Alpha of my generation, destined to inherit all three of my fathers' packs. That necklace, along with the insignia badge, marked that destiny.Arie had hinted more than once that she wanted them. Every time, we'd end up in a fight so fierce the entire house shook. I never backed down. I'd shout, swear, insist I'd never let her have them.So when I suddenly offered them to her, it made sense they thought I was scheming again."It's just an apology gift," I said quietly after a long silence.Kael gave me a warm, approving look. "Zoe finally understands how to yield to her sister. Don't worry—even if Arie has the badge, you'll still inheri

The day I decided to leave was Christmas. Our family had a tradition to celebrate this day together every year. That morning, I got a call from my professor."Zoe, I'm glad to see your email accepting the Antarctic research project," he said. "Three years ago, you said you couldn't bear to leave your family. I'm happy to see you continuing your career now. I've already booked your flight for tomorrow night. Make sure you say goodbye to your family today."The word family made my eyes sting with tears. After my mother passed away, it was just me and my three fathers. I used to be the most cherished daughter in the werewolf world—the daughter of three powerful Alphas. But ever since Arie appeared, she became their beloved one. And I became the one they stopped seeing."Professor," I said, "please apply for the highest level of confidentiality for me. Delete all my identity records from the Werewolf Information Bureau.""Why would you do that?" he asked, startled. "Once your records are e
