Chapter 1

My phone relentlessly buzzed with excited messages. "I'll start planning the wedding right away!"

Erica Jones leaned against Christopher Scott while pouting. "Scarlett, you know I never believed in marriage. I just wanted to experience it once, and Anthony and Christopher jumped at the chance to make it happen!"

I said nothing. Before I could even react, Christopher slapped the phone from my hand. "Are you deaf? Didn't our family teach you any manners? Erica's being sincere. Why do you have to be so petty that you can't even answer her?"

My fiancé, Anthony Scott, stepped in front of me—not to defend me, but to shield Erica. He glanced down at the screen. "What are you planning? Are you going on a trip?"

I quickly picked up the phone and locked it. "It's a company project."

The three of them stood there like a perfect picture, like a scene straight out of a magazine. And me? I was the joke.

Around me, murmurs swirled like smoke.

"She still thinks she's the bride? Please. This whole party was clearly planned for Ms. Jones by the Scott brothers."

"She tried to marry Mr. Anthony, and when he bailed, she latched onto Mr. Christopher. Honestly, Mr. Anthony must've realized just how desperate she is for a man..."

The guests were all rich socialites. To them, I was nothing more than entertainment.

And the two childhood sweethearts who once promised to protect me forever? Their eyes never left Erica.

I scanned the room. The romantic setup I'd painstakingly crafted for weeks lay in ruins. White balloons and delicate roses were defaced with blood-red spray paint that read, "Cheers to Single Life!"

What a cruel performance to humiliate me. It was staged and directed by Anthony and Christopher, meant to showcase just how much they adored Erica.

I picked up one of the roses, but I couldn't stop my hands from trembling.

Erica froze, and her eyes welled up with tears. "I'm sorry, Scarlett... It was my idea. I wanted to surprise you with a fun bachelorette party... I never meant for it to turn out like this..."

Anthony gently ruffled her hair and turned to me with a grim expression. "Can you stop playing the victim? You're a wedding planner—you've seen worse. Don't act like you can't handle this."

Christopher didn't wait for an answer. He stormed forward, grabbed my wrist, and shoved me toward Erica. "Scarlett! Erica's just a sweet, naive person. How can you be so cruel? You're the only one she's scared of, and it's only because you pretend to be so damn pitiful. Apologize to her right now!"

A sharp pain shot up my arm, but I said nothing. Instead, I slid off the ring I had designed myself.

Anthony's expression flickered. Instinctively, he covered his hand—the one that had once proudly worn the custom wedding ring I'd spent three months crafting.

It had already been swapped out for a matching pair with Erica.

I kept my voice calm. "You're right. Let's enjoy the bachelorette party."

They stared at me, stunned. This was the first time I didn't argue when it came to Erica.

In the past, I had always fought back. For example, when she threw out my gastric pills, and they'd pulled strings to stop every ambulance from reaching me. Yet, all Anthony could say about that was, "Can you stop making scenes and faking it every time Erica's around?"

But not this time.

"Let's break up." I tossed the ring without a second thought.

Anthony froze, and his face darkened.

I smiled. "Cheers to single life, right?"

Christopher was the first to snap. "Are you insane? Erica planned this surprise for you! Now, you're throwing it in her face? If you don't marry into the Scott family, who else would ever want you?"

Just when I thought it couldn't hurt any more, his words cut even deeper.

Still, I smiled. Calmly, I tossed the rose at his chest.

He stared at me in disbelief. Then, he lunged forward and grabbed my wrist. "How dare you!" he growled.

The pain was sharp and immediate.

Funny. I remembered how they'd used to fuss over every little scrape I got, wrapping me up in bandages like I was something fragile.

But not anymore.

"This was Ms. Jones' idea. I thought you should get the full experience," I indifferently said.

Christopher's face twisted—first red, then white. He hurled the rose back at me like garbage. "Have you had enough, Scarlett?"

Anthony scowled as he charged toward me. "The wedding's on Sunday. If you're planning to make a scene again in front of all these people, don't blame me if I cancel it."

It was probably Christopher and Anthony who had signed Erica up for the competition again. In the blink of an eye, she was trending everywhere. Her popularity spiked, and with it, the old mistress scandal resurfaced. Now, her reputation in the industry was toast."So, all her work was stolen too?""And she stole Scarlett's fiancé! Honestly, those two idiots treated a plagiarist like she was some kind of genius."The Internet was ruthless. Everyone piled on her, laughing like she was some kind of spectacle.Anthony and Christopher's dad, Peter Scott, was livid. Nevertheless, none of the comments were taken down.Christopher and Anthony just sat there, letting every word cut them open like knives, as if it were some kind of twisted penance."Does this make you feel better now?" Gone was their arrogance. The tone of their messages was almost timid."With or without help, I would've won. What you guys did had nothing to do with me," I coldly replied. After that, silence fell.

"Scarlett is my wife now. And a proper ex should act like they're dead." Levi's calm, deliberate voice only made Anthony and Christopher look more pathetic in contrast.Christopher's fingers curled tightly into his palms. "We've known each other since we were kids… "Scarlett, don't you remember that time in high school when it suddenly rained, and you came running just to bring me an umbrella?"His eyes lit up as he saw me pause, as if he regained a flicker of hope. "And your birthday presents—we always gave you your favorite props, didn't we? Remember when we promised to throw a party for just the three of us?"I came back to my senses and smiled faintly, glancing past him.He instinctively turned to follow my gaze and saw shelves lined with carefully arranged props and designs."You two stopped giving me gifts years ago. And those props have been obsolete for a long time."Even those so-called memories… they were the ones who threw them away. His hand dropped, and he couldn'

Our wedding and the sudden revelation of the Carter family's long-hidden heir, Levi, shot straight to the top of every trending list. Hashtags related to the scandal exploded overnight and were flooded with clips of Christopher and Anthony. Their meddling before I left the country, which they'd hoped would help bring me back to them, turned out to be a dagger they drove into their own backs.Public opinion quickly swung in one direction, and even the few die-hard Scott family supporters found themselves banned and silenced online. This time, the world finally saw the true power of the Carter family, and their view of the Scott family shifted entirely.Meanwhile, I was fully focused on preparing for an international competition. So, when I bumped into Christopher and Anthony in a foreign country during my honeymoon—of all places—I was completely caught off guard. It wasn't until they rushed over to grab me that I realized they were coming straight for me."That wedding plan was m

Anthony and Christopher could sense something was off with me, but they didn't know where to begin. So, they simply kept watch me until late at night. When I opened my suitcase, a few pages of my manuscript slipped out. Anthony bent down, picked one up, and his eyes lit up. "Scarlett, I knew you were looking forward to this! Let's plan another wedding after this one, yeah? We've got all the time in the world…"But he didn't know that there was no "after" for us anymore. The look in his eyes was so tender, as if he were deeply in love with me.Christopher pulled me into a tight hug, grinning. "The Scott family will always be your home."After they left, I showered three times. I scrubbed so hard my skin turned red.At dawn, I got into Levi's car and headed for the airport. Meanwhile, my phone wouldn't stop buzzing. Messages poured in from Anthony and Christopher as they were filled with panic and confusion."Where did you go? Answer your phone!""We can't find you at the hote

On my last day before leaving the country, I stopped by the company for my final handover.Levi wasn't allowed upstairs, but he stayed by the building entrance, standing guard like a shadow that refused to leave. While I was wrapping things up, I caught a few former colleagues whispering behind their hands."So, that's Mr. Anthony's fiancée who cheated? She hooked up with someone at her parents' gravesite. Unbelievable."Right on cue, my phone buzzed with a flood of notifications. They were photos of me and Levi plastered all over social media."#TopWeddingPlannerCatchesCheatingScandalBeforeWedding."The story was blowing up, and cancellation requests were rolling in one after another."I'm not letting some homewrecker plan my wedding! A whore like you should just kill yourself!" My direct messages were filled with venom.I stayed calm, deleted everything I needed to, and got ready to leave. But just as I stepped into the stairwell, Anthony and Christopher appeared, blocking my

At the same time, a security guard's hand clamped tightly over my mouth, his fingers squeezing my throat.I was thrown into the car, but my hands banged against the window, hoping Levi would notice me. But the roar of the engine drowned everything out, and my hope slipped away like sand. The car screeched to a halt in front of Scott Manor. Anthony kindly shielded the door for Erica while Christopher roughly yanked me out. Without hesitation, he grabbed the things I'd packed and hurled them at me. The three of them stood under umbrellas, looking down on me, drenched, defeated, and shivering in the rain.Christopher sneered. "So, you really planned to run away, huh? Packed your bags and everything? Let me show you what happens when you leave the Scott family—where else could you possibly go?"I quietly lowered my head as I gathered the ruined props.Anthony's voice cut through the cold air, "If you apologize to Erica right now, you can still be Mrs. Scott."I sifted through the
