It took about a few seconds before she recovered enough to continue walking.
Well, talk about an annoying man. First he promises her a ride, lifting her hopes high, then just walks away. Now she had to get home feeling more annoyed than before. What was wrong with men and being unable to fulfill their promises? Would it have hurt him to just say his name and leave. Why offer a ride then walk away. Frustrating. “Great, there you are.” A voice called from behind, halting her movement. The person's voice was deep, yet hunger filled. It made her heart rate increase again. Slowly and cautiously, she pivoted, reaching into her bag in case she would find anything that could work as a weapon if things didn't get pretty. But the moment she noticed the three huge men, her eyes widened and all forms of hand movement went numb. They would certainly be capable of curling her to a ball in seconds. Thinking about that made her breath disappear. Oh no. “You've been—” Before he had a chance to finish, she turned and ran. Ran as fast as her legs would take her. Ran as fast as her adrenaline would make her. Her heart furiously pounded against her ribcage, but she couldn't care about how it made her chest ache. She ran. First the fact she was a terrible runner. She ran. Clutching her bag tighter, she ran! The men laughed, before following. And within seconds, one of them grabbed her elbow, cutting her run short. “Let me go!” She cried, trying to yank herself free, but he was just too strong. They laughed even louder at her struggle. “Don't you know, dear, that we like it when our food run.” The words caused goosebumps to trail up her skin. What did they mean? Thoughts of what they could do to her made her tremble. Would they probably beat her up? Rape her? Or possibly kill her? Those three possibilities made her tremble and tears filled her eyes. “Please! Let go! Help! Somebody help!” Her cries for help were obviously useless, considering how silent everywhere was. No one could be around at that time. No one. Not a soul. Not a breathing soul. Well, except… “Let go of her or you all die.” The familiar voice caused all heads to turn in that direction. A small feeling of gratitude bubbled in her at the sight of Zayne. How he'd arrived, she didn't care. All that mattered was help was around and she wasn't alone. One of the men groaned. “She's our dinner Alpha Thornhart. Don't come in the way.” Dinner? Alpha? What was going on? Zayne didn't even stare at her, his expression cold, but composed. “You should know enough that I don't like to repeat myself twice.” He took a step forward, and the men visibly tensed. The one holding her looked like he was contemplating if to let go. “But, I will say this one last time.” He locked gaze with the man holding her. “Let go.” Everywhere stilled. Silence. The type capable of deafening a man. This looked like a huge decision for the three men, it only made her confused. From the looks of things, one might assume if they didn't heed, they could be fighting their possible death. Why? Who was Zayne to them? Normally, she'd have bothered to think more about it but geez, how could she care when her life was literally at stake. In the hand of a man she knew nothing of. The man's grip around her hand loosened, and she immediately tried to yank herself free. Just when he seemed about to let go, he grabbed on tighter. "No." Maybe he was the leader, because at his word, the two others nodded, stepping forward though she noticed their hesitancy. "You can't control us. You might be an alpha, but you're not our leader. The rogue leader." One of the men, a red haired, said. But obviously, he sounded way more confident than he looked. Zayne only raised a brow. “Well, you called for your own death.” Before she had a chance to think about what was going on, snapping bones could be heard, stripping clothes followed then what she never thought she'd ever see came to view. A huge wolf stood in front of her. Someone (something) who was supposed to be Zayne. The three men shifted afterwards, growling instantly. Amidst all the chaos of snapping bones and all, a loud scream echoed. It took a second to recognize the scream as hers. Because this wasn't a dream, but here she stood, in between four wolves.Sleep and Reene became two worlds apart that night. She couldn't stop her thoughts from filling with the kiss. Why had he done it?And why had she allowed him to? She'd have used him being drunk as his excuse, but then, didn't people when tipsy, do what they'd want to do while sober? Then there comes she, who was very much sober, yet still did what she shouldn't have.Reene groaned, all that occupying her mind till the sun rose. With a sigh, she left the bed to take a shower then brushed her teeth before changing into a red tank top with blue jean trousers, and was out of the room. She paused to stare at Jaxon's door for a moment, contemplating whether or not to give it a knock. What would he say? What would she even say?‘Just wanted to check on you. Having a hangover?’Or;‘Hey, I'm here to ask what last night's kiss was all about.’Both thoughts made her cringe. It'd probably be best to just head her way.Reene left to the breakfast table, where she barely touched her food, distu
Jaxon sat in the bar, a glass of wine in hand, the other holding a cigarette between its fingers, while Owen just stood, confused at what disturbed his boss so much.Jaxon, on the other hand, had his thoughts drifted to Reene. He wasn't mad at her for doing what no one else would dare do, by entering his brother's room, but because that was a part of his life he didn't want her seeing. The despair. Hatred. Fear. Hurt. All those emotions associated with that room, was something he wouldn't want her seeing. He didn't want to scare her off.And that itself… scared him.Jaxon gulped in the glass, pouring himself another one.*Owen drove a drunk Jaxon home, which only increased his level of confusion. He had rarely to never seen his boss so drunk that he wouldn't be able to do much.He just had his head leaned against the window, eyes shut. What was wrong?‘I just leave for one week and Mr Don is already drinking himself to unconsciousness.’ Owen thought with a head shake.Once they reach
Reene headed straight to the kitchen, and with the help of some workers, managed to find ingredients she'd need. This was going to be terrific. She was going to make him grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, as that was Jake's apology meal when they were younger. And it also helped comfort her after her parents' death. So, that'd do.All day, Reene made the meal, putting as many efforts and emotions to it.Once done, she decorated it beautifully on a plate, added a glass of wine, then set both on a tray before beginning the journey to Jaxon's room. This was thrilling. It was the first time in so long since she placed so much time in making a meal.Hopefully he will would appreciate it.Reene was about to reach the elevator, when Inder came to view, phone in hand.“Whoa, what's the occasion? And do you seriously plan on eating this deliciousness alone?” He had a grin on.“Thanks.”“Can I join you? Please.” His lips pushed out slightly. “Sorry, but I'm not making it for myself.” S
The elevator separated and Reene got out, puffing out annoyed heavy breathing like she'd just completed a marathon race. But heck, never had she felt so furious before. The way he'd spoken to her.Telling her to ‘Get out’ like she was one of the people he could control.Just ‘cause she was living under his roof didn't give him any right to speak in that manner.More annoying was the fact she didn't even stand to protest or at least let him know he couldn't shout at her.Instead, her dumb self just walked away, looking like some kind of weakling.Reene felt herself grow more annoyed with that thought. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be under the same roof as him at the moment. She was going to go out.Anywhere.Maybe even Anna's.Anything but with the asshole who thought he could act however he felt right with anyone.Annoying.Reene was lost in thought that she was so close to bumping into someone.Thankfully, she noticed Umrai's figure quick enough to make her feet stop.“Umrai? Why
It had been a week since Reene's confliction on what Jaxon's definition of ‘special’ was.To make things weirder, she'd barely seen him, so her body chose to have dreams no female should be having.Which meant whenever she got a glance of him passing by, her heart would drift close to an explosion. And things only worsened with him always busy and with someone ninety percent of the time, so he'd just glance at her, then get back to business.Sometimes he didn't even look at her.But the times he did, Reene could be sure she was nearing a heart attack.Well, that day was one of the days she didn't get to see him, which she wasn't sure if to say was good or bad (probably good). After breakfast that day, Umrai had to head to work with some of the other girls, leaving Reene all alone.Lisa still hadn't been around since who knows when, and Reene wasn't really familiar with the rest of the girls (well, except Nora and everyone knows why that option won't work), so once again, all alone.Af
“You look lost in thought.” A female whose name Reene had totally forgotten, pointed out as they ate breakfast.“No, I’m just tired.” Reene replied with a small smile.Certainly not true. She was lost in thought on Jaxon's words. He saw her to be someone special to him? Did he? And if he did, then what was his definition of special. She didn't want to jump into any conclusion that'd prove dumb. But wasn't it kind of obvious? Or was it?Gosh, this was starting to get annoying.“Reene.” Umrai called, startling her a littleShe raised her head from the food, to all the eyes on her.Even Nora (though it was more of a scowl).“Hmm?”“What's wrong?” “Maybe she's plotting to snatch some girl's long crush.” Nora scoffed, arms crossing tightly over her chest. At least Reene could be glad because that distracted them from Reene to Nora.Soon, they were chatting on different things till Reene's distractedness was forgotten.Thank goodness.Once everyone had finished eating, they left one at a
