JEREMY

I felt the crappiest I had ever felt in a long time, and I knew it was because of the spaghetti I ate, but I didn’t want Lucia to know that.

It was unfortunate that she managed to figure it out pretty quickly.

Her offer to stay with me in the apartment instead of going to work was extremely tempting.

I wanted nothing more than to have her all to myself the entire day, and I knew that turning down that offer was stupid, but for once, I needed to be selfless and put her first.

I couldn’t let her skip work just because of me. That was why I told her to go. I already regretted it as I watched her leave, but there was no way I was going to tell her to come back even though it was on the tip of my tongue.

When I heard the door shut, my heart sank in my chest as I covered myself up with a soft blanket. Even though I knew I was going to see her in the evening, I still missed her badly.

I let out a long sigh as I simply rested, and soon, my eyes fluttered shut. A few hours later, I wo

LUCIAMy eyes went wide with shock at what I had just uttered out loud. I just said I wanted to kiss Jeremy to his damn face.He looked shocked, too, as he stared at me with wide eyes. It was all so incredibly awkward that I had to find a way to salvage the situation. I instantly rubbed the back of my neck, letting out an extremely nervous laugh. “I was just kidding, alright? It’s just an expression. I was just so happy about the food. That’s all.” Jeremy was quiet for a second before he slowly nodded. I did not miss the disappointment that danced in the pools of his eyes before it disappeared. He plastered a smile on his face, which I could instantly tell was forced.“Alright. Why don’t you sit down and have some food? You must be starving.” He said, and my stomach totally agreed with him because at that moment, it growled very loudly.“Shit.” I grumbled under my breath, my cheeks tinging red with embarrassment. A low laugh escaped Jeremy’s lips as he led me towards a chair and h

LUCIA I couldn’t believe what I saw and tasted at the same time. The spaghetti I made somehow turned out dreadful, and it was even more embarrassing because of how much I bragged about my cooking. What a fool Jeremy must think I was. Gosh. I also couldn’t comprehend how he could manage to eat the food when it was that bad. It warmed my heart because he did that not to hurt my feelings.I looked at him in total disbelief because he was still eating the food!“Are you trying to get yourself killed, Jeremy?! That’s enough!” I exclaimed before snatching the plate from his hands. He still tried to take the plate from me, but I quickly dumped it in the sink before he could and I was surprised to see that he looked genuinely disappointed that I dropped the meal in the sink.I couldn’t help but let out a laugh as I stared at him strangely. “You really are something, aren’t you?” I said in a soft tone, and his expression instantly turned soft, which made my heart skip a bit.“I guess I am.”

JEREMYI slowly changed out of my wet clothes and wore the dry ones that Lucia gave me.I was still in disbelief that she let me into her apartment after she made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with me.I was sensible enough to know that her letting me into her house did not necessarily change anything between us, but I was just glad that she cared enough not to send me back in the rain.It had been days since I finally found Lucia, and I could never forget how I felt the first day I saw her at the coffee shop.It was all like all my problems had come to a halt, and everything was right in the world again. Despite the fact that I was elated to see her, I couldn't approach her, and instead, I watched her from afar. That was how I knew where she lived.I kept watching her and when I couldn't stay so far away anymore, I decided to come a bit closer and that was when she spotted me at the door to the coffee shop.Lucia came into the living room just as I was drying my hair with a

LUCIA The knocking on my door continued, and it made my heart race even faster. My hands trembled by my sides as my lips quivered with fear. I knew it! I knew this was going to happen. Connor finally found me, and it was all my fault. It was because I posted that stupid photo.I heard the knock again, and a small whimper escaped my lips as cold shivers ran up and down my spine. The knocking continued, and I knew he was not going to leave till I opened the door, and he would keep coming back until he saw me. Such a damn persistent bastard. He was like a cockroach.I tiptoed silently to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife I could find before making my way towards the front door.I let out deep breaths, muttering a quick prayer, my heart nearly pounding out of my chest as I slowly opened the door.“You bastard!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, raising the knife high up in the air, its silver blade glinting in the lights.“Lucia! What are you doing?!” The person at the door yel

LUCIA My heart skipped a bit the moment I heard that voice. It couldn't be? Could it?I slowly turned around, my heart pounding loudly against my chest, and the moment my eyes landed on him, a loud gasp escaped my lips.“Jeremy,” I gasped, blinking to make sure that I was not dreaming or hallucinating.I had thought of him so much that at that moment, I couldn't tell if it was reality or my imagination anymore. I took a step closer to him as I heard my heart pound loudly in my ears. Was this real?Jeremy's expression was sad and broken, and it looked real enough, but I still couldn't be sure.I took another step closer to him and when I reached him, my shaky hands reached out and the moment my fingers touched his warm skin, another gasp escaped my lips as my eyes went wide with disbelief.“Jeremy,” I gasped, caressing his cheek, and I watched as he closed his eyes, leaning into my touch. “You're here. You're really here.”“Yes, I am.” He whispered with a hoarse voice before pulling
