Chapter 7: Death

Baldwin saw his end coming near, he never thought he will die like this, he always thought that he would one day rule all the packs as their king and lord. He regrets how he was being too rash in making his decisions and now he is going to die as an ordinary wolf who died out of thirst for power

“This should serve as example to all packs who have the intention of causing an uprising amongst all of us who agreed to come together as one” Anslem said as he stood before the council of packs.

As Baldwin stood before his very own death he was reminded of his greatest mistake which is what have brought him here today, he regretted being hungry for power, he regretted how he bought Edward’s idea to make a move for power he regretted how he agreed to kill three members of his pack to frame the blood moon pack. His wife, Karren will live in life-long agony as he will not be there to soothe her worries.

“I regret it all” Baldwin said almost whispering.

“Let the execution begin” Anslem said as he took his chair on the punishment grounds and other members joined him.

Baldwin was forced to kneel and place his head on the large oak stump placed on the ground, upon Anslem’s signal his head was chopped off from his body and many council members looked away from this gruesome scene.

Harriett followed her husband as they both tried to run away and when they captured him, she followed them in attempts to beg Donald to have mercy on him but they did not let her enter the meeting room. She stood and watched as her husband was killed in cold blood and his head roll away from his body, she felt the pain of the mating bond dissolving and her heart in an unending pain, she was going to have her revenge on all of them, on Donald for giving the last verdict, on Edward for betraying him, on Claudia for not taking his side and on Anslem for being a by-stander and watching this happen. She will make sure they suffer for what they have done to her husband.

Donald pulled away from Rebekah, he could not believe he just cried in front of her, but he did not feel embarrassed about it at all, he just felt like he could go on all day crying with her consoling him by patting his back tenderly.

“Thank you, Bekah, for being here” Donald said as his grey orbs looked tiredly at her.

“it’s alright, I am here for you anytime you feel like crying” she said trying to lighten his mood and a small chuckle escaped his lips.

“Becks!!!” Javier said as he walked towards Rebekah.

“Javy” Rebekah said smiling at her brother.

“My Lord” Javier bowed to Donald as he acknowledged his presence.

“You can call me Donald outside the council meeting, we are almost the same age anyway” Donald said with a friendly tone.

“Yes, my lord…Donald I mean” he said still trying to adjust.

“Meet me outside when you are done, Bekah”

“Okay, D” she said as she smiled at him and he walked out of the room closing the door silently.

“Everything you said on the stand was actually what happened, you were hurt and you didn’t even inform us at home to come visit you” Javier said looking worried.

“I was not baldly hurt just a scratch here and there, but Donald took good care of me, I’m fine now” she said reassuringly.

“You like him, don’t you” Javier asked her as he saw the smile on her face as she watched Donald’s back.

“Yes, I do, a lot and I think he likes me too” she said winked at her brother

“How do you expect someone as mighty as him to be into you” Javier said amazed at Rebekah

“I must tell you my dearest brother, I have my charms” she said smiling as she walked past him and towards the door.

“You both even have nicknames, isn’t that serious” he said as he looked at Rebekah and smiled mischievously.

“Don’t you dare tell mother about this, or I will break your fingers into tiny pieces” she threatened with a serious voice.

“I won’t, your secret love escapade is safe with me” he said to her laughing hysterically.

“Back to serious matters, how is mother’s condition” she asked in worry.

“She is getting better with the herbs given to her, there are no complications whatsoever” Javier said and Rebekah sighed in relief.

“I’ll stop by the house more often to see mother, please let her know” she said

“What if something happens to you when you come around again” he asked worriedly

“I’m going to be fine and besides things are going to be quiet for a while as everyone just saw them kill Baldwin” she said as she lowered her tone towards the end of her sentence.

“Okay, I’ll trust you because you have never been wrong in this kind of things” he said.

“I need to get going now, I don’t want to keep Donald waiting” she said as they walked towards the door.

“I understand, lover girl” he said smiling mischievously.

They both got to the door and saw Donald lazily seated on a chair as he has been waiting for Rebekah. When they got to the door, they hugged each other tightly as they let go, they bumped their foreheads together

“One mind” Javier said

“One heart” Rebekah responded.

“bye Becks” he said

“Bye Javy, stop changing your hair color please?” she said sounding a little bit annoyed.

“I’ll take that into consideration” he said as he ran off and she stood and watched his back disappear into thin air.

“Let’s get going, lover girl” Donald said as he turned to walk away. Rebekah’s eyes widened at what he just said, she just hoped he didn’t hear their whole conversation.

“How much of it did you hear?” Rebekah asked

“how much of what?” he asked her teasingly

“I heard just the right amount I needed to confirm a fact” he added after chuckling softly

“What fact exactly” she asked but he didn’t respond, instead he smiled wickedly and walked away.
