I woke up as the sun was bracing the sky, the light flickering onto my eyes as it peeped from behind the clouds, I opened my eyes and as I lifted my head to look at Heath, I just watched him for a few moments, mulling over my feelings for him when all of a sudden his eyes shot wide open. He sniffed the air and suddenly sat upright. I sat up next to him worriedly and held his arm “What? what is it, Heath?” I smelt the air, is there rogues? is that what he’s sensing? But I couldn’t smell any threat around us. He sniffed again but inhaled even deeper and quickly stood up ”MATE” he called out and without so much as glancing at me he took off in full speed down the hill and ran toward the gates at the entrance of the pack land. I watched him run further away as a cold shiver went down my spine and a lump formed in my throat, I just sat there frozen in my spot. When I finally managed to snap myself out from my shock, the only thing I felt I could do right now was to leave and go back hom
Heath's POV: I ran as fast as I could, the smell of my mate was overpowering as I got nearer, it hit me hard, the smell of cherries and camomile soap, it was delicious. My eyes shot to her and widened as I saw she was running just as fast toward me a longing look on her face which matched the way I felt. I finally got to her as we embraced, I wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly. I then pulled away to look at her, cupping her cheek I took in her beauty. Her long golden blonde hair and blue eyes, her slim figure dressed in black and khaki armor… ahh she’s a fighter too... perfect! “mate” I spoke to her feeling ecstatic as I looked into her eyes. “mate” she whispered back with a bright smile as she ran her hand through my hair. We both smiled intently at each other, then I grabbed her hand and motioned for her to follow “come, my love” she nodded and smiled eagerly. We began to walk when a strong hand fell on my arm, I turned to my right to see Trey smiling. “I’m happy for
Lelanna's POV: It was chilly tonight, even with my armor on I could feel the chill on my face and my bare hands as my fingers started to feel numb and sore. Maybe because I was high off the ground, the cold air whipped around me… I could feel the damp in the air as if it was preparing to rain. I pulled out some of the fruit I had packed... I had only returned home once to gather food and provisions and I carefully masked my scent by covering myself in mud and rubbing pine leaves all over my hands and armor. I made sure to leave no tracks either way and managed to climb back up to the cliff without being spotted and I haven’t left since. I was just under the shadow of the Maidenhair tree on top of the edge of a cliff, overlooking the rogues, they didn’t look like a community or family type of pack, like any of them knew each other previously, it looked more like a mutiny... someone had bought them altogether. I have been carefully watching them every day, they had been training cons
The grounds outside the palace and in front of the main gates were crowded with warriors and their families. I could hear muffled cries from their children and loving kisses from their anxious mates as they said their goodbyes. It broke my heart to know that some of them wouldn’t make it and return back to their loved ones, let alone all the other warriors that would be joining us from other packs! The aftermath of this… weather we win or lose is going to be unbearable for so many and felt by every pack involved. These rebels, whoever they are, are about to inflict an unspeakable amount of pain and sorrow on so many, and for what? what revenge could possibly be worth destroying the lives of innocent people… its savage, ruthless! Everyone started loading their kit into the jeeps, each picking one to ride in. Heath insisted I rode in the first jeep that he would be driving along with Adeena, Mitch and his brother Warren who was also a warrior. Trey, Yen and Danny and another warrior ha
I know at points of the night I had been nodding in and out of sleep and I know I wasn’t the only one when I could hear a faint snore here and there or someone all of a sudden jerking themselves awake... The sun was peeking through the sky now, I decided to sit up and coupe in the tree to stop myself from feeling too relaxed and tired. I took out Matt’s phone to see it was now 5.00am, the birds were suddenly chirping away luckily not too close to us so it couldn’t deter our hearing. There was a slight mist in the air this morning proving today was going to be cloudy and foggy. It was still really humid though and at a moment like this I wish it had been autumn or winter cause at least we wouldn’t all feel so hot and suffocated in our armor, I could feel beads of sweat dripping down the back of my neck and from my hairline all the way down the side of my face and I had barely even moved yet. I was just leaning on my knee when I felt a sudden chill whip through me and a faint smell of
I heard soft footsteps approaching from behind, but I already recognized the scent of who was coming to disturb my quiet and clouded thoughts. "Lelanna, I know you’re up there, come down” Heath called softly. I huffed and sighed deeply as I got up onto my feet, stepped off of the branch and let myself drop to the ground, my feet hitting the dry mud as I stood before him and Adeena, Heath’s eyes looked concerned, and I could see worry etched onto his face but the blood that had been dried onto their faces and bodies were now gone. They looked and smelt fresh and clean as if a battle of over 1000 people didn’t happen only a couple of hours ago. “Are you ok?” Adeena held out her hand and grasped mine, I held hers loosely, not feeling the want for any company right now. I nodded and gulped down the trapped tears that were threatening to spill over the moment I opened my mouth to speak. She looked at me as if she could already tell what I was feeling and gave me an understanding nod ”we
We headed through the trees and every step felt as if it was a step closer to my death or something, like I was allowing myself to walk straight into my own demise. Sweat ran down my spine as I could see the clearing in the trees and the now freshly washed grounds of the Blue moon pack. I pulled up my hood and put on my mask, not wanting any passer-by to recognize me. We approached the Pack house and Dakota held my hand in support ”it’s going to be ok” she reassured me… but no matter what, there was nothing she could say that would stop my anxious sweats and my legs from feeling like jelly as my knees felt they could buckle at any moment and flee in the other direction taking me with them. The smells of the pack house were a mix of all the people it housed here and the fresh food that the cooks were preparing for lunch. Mmmm bread I could smell, and something sweet mixed with cinnamon. But thanks to my nervousness as much as my nose enjoyed the smells, my stomach churned up in knots
Layton's POV: Thank fuck the day is finally over and what a fucking shocking day it’s been and that’s an understatement! I shut and locked the main doors that led to my rooms on the top floor and got straight to pouring myself a whiskey... usually I drank it to help me sleep but tonight I’m drinking it for a whole different reason… I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that she’s here! that only a few hours ago she was right in front of me… alive… beautiful… strong! and fuck... fuck! I just wanted to hold her, tell her how I’ve spent the last three years hating myself and missing her, but I couldn’t. The whole time she was there she barely looked at me, I may as well have been a ghost, in fact, that’s exactly what I felt like, as if I was having another one of my fucked up dreams of her and it wasn’t real. It’s bittersweet really, her survival, of course it’s all that I wanted, was for her to be ok, to have been alive all this time but, the thought of what she’s had to go thro
