Kylie should have known that the vows her husband, Sebastian Clark, took seven years ago would mean nothing to him seven years later.

She had known Sebastian for so long since they were young because her parents used to work for Sebastian's family until her father died trying to save his boss.

“It's my daughter's school play, Sebastian, I should be allowed to go as well.”

“My mother is coming in from London tomorrow morning, Kylie. You need to stay and serve her like you always do. Judy and I would be present for Sienna's school play.”

Kylie felt a waver of pain stab her heart as soon as she heard those words, but the pain only worsened when she saw the smile on her daughter's face as soon as Sebastian mentioned Judy's name,

“Is Aunt Judy really going to be present for my school play?” She squeaked and when Sebastian nodded, her excitement got over the moon.

“I can't wait, Daddy. I love Aunt Judy so much and I wish she were my mother instead.”

Kylie's brows pinched as she held the plate of homemade cookies she had earlier baked for her daughter. Her daughter's words stung but there was really nothing she could do. It was obvious that no matter what she did, she could never beat Judy's presence in her husband's life and her daughter's too.

“I baked you some cookies, baby.” She murmured, her voice low as she tried to hide the hurt at the back of her throat,

“I don't want that. Aunt Judy took me out for ice cream today and she even made me try the adult rollercoaster.”

Kylie immediately tilted her head towards Sebastian,

“What? What if our daughter had gotten seriously hurt? Sienna's been taking a lot of surgery stuff, and it could affect her health so badly, Sebastian.”

She watched him munch on a slice of chicken and wipe his mouth clean before answering,

“You worry too much, Kylie. Sienna's in good hands and besides, she enjoys every single day with Judy. If my daughter is happy, then I'm happy too.”

Tears burned at the back of Kylie's eyes, but before they could roll over to her lower lashes, she tilted her head away from Sebastian and sniffled to suck them back in,

“Nanny, take Sienna to her room and have her freshen up for bed,” Sebastian uttered and as soon as the nanny did as instructed, he rose to his feet as well,

“I'll be heading to the company to finish up the urgent work I left pending at the office. Go to bed and don't wait for me, I'll see you tomorrow.”

Kylie wanted to speak but gulped her words as she watched him walk towards the stairs. Thirty minutes later, Sebastian was back downstairs dressed in his work suit,

“What about the day after tomorrow?” She murmured as she watched him adjust his tie a little, but he simply stared blankly at her,

“What about it, Kylie?” He asked, causing her lips to curl into a small smile,

“No, it's nothing, Honey.”

He simply nodded, and with one hand tucked into his pocket, walked out of the living room.

As Kylie remained seated in the dining room, her eyes suddenly fell to the diamond ring on her finger and a tear rolled down her face,

She thought. They had known each other for so long since they were kids, was there really no chance that he was in love with her?

Now that Sebastian was gone, and no one was around her, she could cry to her heart's content this year again because like all the other years since they got married, Sebastian Clark had never remembered the day of their wedding anniversary.

_____________

“Welcome Mom, how was your trip?” Kylie asked as she tried to take Mrs Clark's bag, but the woman jerked her hand away, suddenly gripping tightly to her bag. She could never understand why the woman hated her so much despite agreeing to their marriage.

“I never requested your help, Kylie, stop being so nosy and go have my meal ready instead.”

She paused for a second, and forced a slow smile across her lips, “Okay Mom. I'll have your meal ready while you freshen up.”

Kylie watched as her mother-in-law Emily Clark ignored her until she was out of sight, and with a deep sigh, she headed back to the dining room to keep setting up the table.

Her phone suddenly pinged, and she immediately pulled it out of her pocket, unlocking it,

She had turned on her notification just to watch her daughter's play as soon as it was uploaded by her school, and seeing the smile on Sienna's face, a smile crept on hers as she hummed the music with her daughter's voice.

Sienna was a talented singer, and she couldn't wait to watch her daughter become better with her beautiful voice,

“That's my little girl.”

Then Sienna's voice came through the phone,

“I would love to thank my Daddy for believing in me and Aunt Judy for teaching me how to sing better. You're both the best.”

Her heart sank and that pain only worsened as Kylie recalled every single day she had spent singing for her daughter and watching her sing since she was three. She had taught her how to use her voice incredibly. All of a sudden, her husband's first love, Judy, came into town one year ago after Sienna turned five and was replacing her in every aspect.

A voice suddenly snapped Kylie out of her short daze and she immediately tilted her head to the entrance,

“Grandma!!” Kylie heard her daughter's voice and let out a small smile while wiping her tears off her face.

She pulled off her apron, threw it on the kitchen counter, and rushed out to welcome her husband, but as soon as she got to the living room, she was welcomed with a sight that made her jaw clench so tightly she thought it would break

“Hi Kylie, it's been a while,” Judy uttered.

Damian's fingers twitched beside him. He didn't pick up the phone, still staring at it ringing for the third time until it finally stopped. It angered him that Sebastian was calling. What would he want with a woman he had treated so badly and even replaced like she meant absolutely nothing? After the call ended, he picked up the phone and tucked it into the bag still on the couch, picking up the bag afterwards. Damian headed back to the room and dropped it on the table in the center of the room He walked over to Kylie on the bed and glanced at her sleeping so peacefully and calmly. His lips curled into a small smile before he even realized it,She really was beautiful and he could clearly see that. He monitored the slow, steady rise and fall of her chest, then the tiny movement her eyes made now and then,When his eyes finally reached down to her lips, his heart started to thump loudly. He could hear it, the way his breathing suddenly started becoming unsteady and the hairs at the ba

When Kylie opened the envelope, her eyes lit up in shock. He was offering her ten percent of his company's shares and the value of the shares was worth millions. “Joshua…” she called softly, “Before you reject it, I want you to know that you truly deserve it, Kylie. If it weren't for you, my company would have been long gone. Your expertise and your strong belief made me who I am today. I might have been brighter in the university, but you taught me everything I know today about business and I always believed I'd repay you someday. I think today is that day.”Kylie stared at him with so much emotion swelling in her eyes. She couldn't accept the gift because it was too much.“I can't accept this, Joshua, it's too…”He pressed his hand on hers while she still held onto the papers, “I wanted to give you so much for, but knowing the kind of person you are, I opted for just one gift that would be strong enough to secure a future for not just you, but also your daughter. I really want y

  • Watch Me Win, Ex-Husband    Meeting an old time friend

The weekend arrived quickly. By 10 am, Kylie was done with her morning routine and ready to meet Joshua Sterling. She did light makeup, wore a burgundy midi dress that sat neatly off her shoulders, and slipped into nude heels. Simple but put together. It was just Joshua, she reminded herself. There was no reason to overthink it. The address Joshua had sent to her led to a part of the city where buildings got quieter. Kylie slowed as she approached the restaurant. Joshua always did love extravagant things, and even that hadn't changed about him. Through the floor-length glass front, she could see that every table inside was empty. Her brows pulled together slightly. She checked the address again, then pushed the door open. A suited attendant greeted her immediately at the entrance with a warm professional smile, "Ms Vale?” "Yes." She said slowly, still looking past him into the beautifully lit interior. "Mr Sterling is expecting you. Right this way please." She followed him

  • Watch Me Win, Ex-Husband    Piano Bonding

The next day after working from home in the morning, Kylie got into her car and headed for the Blackwood mansion. She noticed she wasn't as nervous as the first time she had been invited over. In fact, she felt a little excited about reaching soon. She had missed Kiara just as much as Kiara missed her and the hug she received the moment she stepped into the house said it all,“I missed you so much, Mommy.” Kylie smiled back, and said, “I missed you too baby. Tell me, is there anything you want to do today?” Kiara nodded her head and began pulling Kylie towards the stairs. They both walked together until they got to Kiara's music roomWhen Kylie opened the door and walked in with Kiara, her mouth slightly opened in awe of the large piano sitting close to a smaller one she had guessed belonged solely to Kiara. There were also other musical instruments. Rare ones, expensive ones, a lot of them.“Why…”“The piano Mommy,” Kiara said, pointing in the direction of the two pianos.“You want

  • Watch Me Win, Ex-Husband    Curious About Her

Damian had been in his office the entire morning, wondering whether Kylie had finally come to a decision or not.He needed an answer right away, even though it was only yesterday evening that they had talked about it. He was desperate. Too desperate for Kiara's sake.Kyle suddenly walked into his office, “Twenty minutes until the meeting with the board.” He announced.Damian nodded his head, and called Kyle's attention before he could leave,“I need you to do something for me, Kyle.” He said,“What's that?”“Find out everything you can about Kylie. I know she isn't a bad person, but I'm also curious to know what type of person she was or where she used to work in the past. Can you do that as soon as possible?” Though Kyle didn't understand why Damian was suddenly interested in digging into Kylie's past, he couldn't blame him either. Kylie was intelligent, and truly mysterious to an extent “I'll try my best.” He said,“Also, prepare the car. I'll be heading out in one hour.” He anno

After dinner which was clearly so wonderful to Kylie, Kyle arrived just in time to pick her up and take her back home.Kylie instantly gave Kiara a goodbye forehead kiss and waved Clara goodbye before leaving the house. About 40 minutes later, the car halted right in front of her apartment, and she stepped out of the car,“Thank you for today Kyle.”He nodded before stepping into the car and driving off. As soon as Kylie got into her house, she dropped her bag on the nearest couch, pulled off her shoes, and threw herself on another empty couch. Tonight had been wonderful, but exhausting. She giggled suddenly, tracing back to Kiara's comfort when she saw a tear drop. Kylie hadn't even noticed she had gotten so emotional thinking about Sienna but Kiara was there and that feeling felt so different. So comforting. Then, she thought about Damian's offer. It wasn't just about the money, but she felt extremely heartbroken for Kiara. All she could see in her eyes when she looked at her was s
