TWO DAYS LATER:

When Kylie woke up, Sebastian was nowhere to be found in the room. She quickly stood up and headed to the living room, but there was no sight of him either.

Just as she turned to leave, the Nanny stepped out from her room,

“What about Sienna?”

“Sir Clark ordered I get her ready for an important event this morning. They all left about an hour ago.”

Kylie tilted her head to the wall clock in the living room and that was the moment she realized the time was past 10am. She had overslept and nobody woke her up,

“Even Mom?”

The Nanny nodded and walked away as soon as she was dismissed

Today was their wedding anniversary and she had stayed up all night planning the perfect way to surprise Sebastian to remind him of their anniversary. Maybe if she did that, he would get her something before the end of the day as well.

Quickly, she went upstairs to freshen up and start preparing all of Sebastian's favourite meals that she could think of. Now that no one was around, it was the perfect opportunity

Twenty minutes later, Kylie stepped out of the bathroom and got dressed. The moment she picked up her phone from the bed, the screen lit up with a notification.

Her lips parted slightly when she saw the sender. It was a message from Sebastian.

A small flutter stirred in her chest as she bit her lower lip, this was the first time Sebastian was texting her on their anniversary. Then, she gently tapped the message open, curious to see what he wanted.

SEBASTIAN {Get ready and come over to the location, Kylie. I have a surprise for you. Everyone's waiting}

A smile curled on Kylie's lips once she was done reading the message and she immediately texted back,

KYLIE: {I'll be there in thirty minutes, Honey}

In haste, she quickly changed into something more appropriate, restyled her hair in a ponytail, and applied light makeup on her face. She grabbed her bag, and stepped out of the house, heading to the location Sebastian had texted her.

Twenty minutes later, she pulled the car to a stop right in front of the venue and drew in a shaky breath.

“City Hall,” Kylie murmured, staring through the windshield. Her fingers tightened around the steering wheel as a fragile hope bloomed in her chest.

Then, a strange thought slipped into her mind. The very reason Sebastian must have texted her to come here. At the thought that he was probably planning a surprise, her pulse quickened.

Maybe he wanted to renew their wedding vows. The thought felt ridiculous, yet her heart clung to it anyway.

She stepped out of the car and made her way toward the entrance, her heels clicking against the pavement. But, the closer she got, the slower her steps became.

There were flowers. White roses lined the hallway leading into the civil ceremony chambers. A soft instrumental melody drifted through the air and several guests stood near the doors, their voices hushed with anticipation.

Kylie frowned as a knot formed in her stomach. Then her gaze landed on a few familiar faces. Sebastian's mother. Her breath snagged as she looked closely.

Standing beside her was his aunt, two cousins she recognized and they were all dressed elegantly. These were the same people who couldn't make it to her wedding seven years ago.

Before she could make sense of why everyone was gathered, a small figure darted past the open doorway laughing.

Kylie's eyes widened as she stared at the little girl in a cream colored dress, hair curled neatly, a flower crown perched on her head, and a tiny basket of rose petals in her hand and her blood ran cold.

“Sienna.” She murmured, but then her gaze slowly lifted toward the front of the room, and then she saw him.

Sebastian stood before the officiant in a tailored black suit, devastatingly handsome, maddeningly calm like this was the most natural thing in the world, and beside him dressed in an exquisite bridal gown was Judy.

As Kylie watched, her knees almost gave out. She bit hard, drawing blood from her lower lip and a tear rolled down her face as her chest ached even more,

She staggered backward as the truth finally slammed into her and then in that moment, it felt like her entire world had come crashing down on her

The family she knew, the one she thought she had and had sacrificed everything for was all a lie right from the very beginning.

Three minutes was all it took for Kylie to snap out of her daze. Her fingers tightened around her handbag, but the moment she turned to leave, Judy's voice echoed in the hall,

“Kylie, you're here.”

Everyone turned to look at her, and then she heard Mrs Clark's voice,

“What a shameless woman. Coming here and trying to ruin my dear son's wedding.”

Kylie didn't turn back to look at the crowd; she was certain their gazes were burning her back even without looking. She sucked in a painful breath and was about to take another step away when she heard Judy's voice again,

“You should stay for the after-wedding party since you're here already.”

Kylie still didn't understand how they were getting married when she already had a legal wedding with Sebastian but she wasn't ready to find out at the moment,

“What do you think, Sienna?”

Sienna’s response came immediately,

“Yes, Mommy. Can you please stay for Aunt Judy's sake?”

Kylie lifted one hand and I swiped her tears away, then she turned around to look at Sebastian who still held his head high while staring back at her,

“We're still legally married, Sebastian.”

He chuckled, “You signed the divorce papers a year ago, Kylie, so we are no longer legally married.”

Kylie's brows pinched as she heard Sebastian and a paper was immediately handed to her by Mrs Clark. The moment she stared at it, she broke down into tears.

“How…”

“You were so busy signing everything I gave you that you never even bothered to look at it. Did you really think I was purchasing a new home for us to move into? No, Kylie, it was never a new home, it was our divorce papers and you foolishly signed them without knowing.”.

Then, everything began to click. The reason Judy returned to the city a year ago. The reason Sebastian had asked her to resign from the company one year ago after she had bagged the contract of a lifetime for the company. Everything was starting to make sense,

Sebastian leaned in closer to her and murmured, “I only married you because that was what my father wanted in his will before I inherited all of his company's shares. 7 years. I had to remain married for seven years because that old man didn't trust me and now, it's over.”

Before Kylie could break down completely, she ran out of the hall, heading for her car, and slammed the door once she got in,

A loud sob tore out from her throat, and her fingers grabbed the wheels, hitting them so hard that her knuckles turned white.

Twenty minutes finally passed and through the rare view mirror, Kylie stared at her heartbreaking reflection. This marriage had indeed done her no good but harm and it was finally time to let go completely.

Everything wasn't real. It was simply her infatuation and even her daughter hated her so much no matter how much she was trying to be a good mother

In haste, Kylie picked her phone from her bag and dialed Elena's number.

Once the call was answered, she uttered,

“Elena, I'm finally ready. I'm ready to leave everything behind and get my old life back.”

  • Watch Me Win, Ex-Husband    Chapter 25

The next day, Kylie arrived at the location of the party but remained in her car. She sucked in two deep breaths at the thought of seeing Sienna again. Sienna had once texted her about how much she missed her and right now, Kylie didn't know if that message had really come from her or not. After staying in the car for about ten minutes, she stepped down from it, and grabbed the small box in it— a gift she had carefully picked for Sienna. Kylie walked into the hall and when she got in, she headed straight for the second floor so she could watch from a distance. She stood close to the bannister, and when the curtains opened widely, Sienna stepped out into the light. The crowd cheered, slamming their hands together to welcome the princess dressed so gorgeously and a small smile escaped Kylie's mouth as she stared at her beautiful big girl. What came next had the smile on Kylie's face fading away immediately. Sebastian stepped up to the stage and besides him, Judy followed. Kylie

The air-conditioner in the room felt unusually high today, and Scarlett had not even the slightest idea if it was because she was tired or her body was simply sensitive to every damn thing. She raised her wrist to her gaze and her eyes scanned the watch on her wrist. Their flight back to Las Vegas was in an hour and thirty minutes and yet, she had no idea what her boss was still discussing with the investors. Her eyes still settled on Kingsley, watching as his fingers tapped on the long ceramic table lightly, quietly listening to the men's long talk. That extreme look of seriousness while tapping on the table and now he was doing it again. She almost chuckled but gulped it back down her throat when his gaze suddenly fell on her, making shivers run down her spine. Her eyes found something else

In over three years of working as his secretary, this was the first time Kingsley Stone was having a fucking heart.“You're free to go.” He said, and Scarlett’s brows knotted, Her eyes landed on the wall clock in his office and they widened in shock as her feet remained rooted in a spot, barely moving an inch. It was just 5pm and he was letting her off work already.“Didn't you hear me?” His voice came out again, colder this time, and Scarlett instantly shook, forcing her body to move, “Thank you sir.” She murmured and immediately stepped out of his office. Twenty minutes later, Scarlett was walking out of the company with her bag clutching on her shoulder and legs moving to the roadside to get herself a ride.“Taxi.” She got into the car, and it drove off instantly. Mr Stone had never called it a day by 5pm before, especially when there was a pending meeting and she couldn't help but wonder why. If something good really happened today, she had to pray often for a lot more to happe

~OLIVIA~What the hell was I even thinking? Taking an offer to be in the same space as Brayden Asher. This felt like me asking for fire I knew could burn me fiercely in the end. “Alright, it's settled then. I'll prepare an accommodation…”“It's fine. I'll like to handle my accommodations myself if you don't mind. Getting me this offer was more than I could ask for.”Richard smiled at me, “Your Mom was right. You truly are hardworking, Olivia. Alright, it's fine. Just know if there's anything else you need, your new home is one call away.” He assured me and I nodded my head.We had lunch in silence. Brayden didn't utter a word, nor did he oppose anything that was said earlier. I guess he was cool with me working in the team. After lunch, I rose to my feet to leave and to my surprise Brayden did the same almost immediately, “Can you show Olivia around the building? She'll be leaving with you tomorrow so maybe you two can get along a little before your departure.”“She isn't a

Damian's fingers twitched beside him. He didn't pick up the phone, still staring at it ringing for the third time until it finally stopped. It angered him that Sebastian was calling. What would he want with a woman he had treated so badly and even replaced like she meant absolutely nothing? After the call ended, he picked up the phone and tucked it into the bag still on the couch, picking up the bag afterwards. Damian headed back to the room and dropped it on the table in the center of the room He walked over to Kylie on the bed and glanced at her sleeping so peacefully and calmly. His lips curled into a small smile before he even realized it,She really was beautiful and he could clearly see that. He monitored the slow, steady rise and fall of her chest, then the tiny movement her eyes made now and then,When his eyes finally reached down to her lips, his heart started to thump loudly. He could hear it, the way his breathing suddenly started becoming unsteady and the hairs at the ba
