The huntress sat down at first. She breathed a sigh and looked at Ryan and Lydia.“No matter what, you can’t help me.” she said “This is my struggle. You two have to do the sword training. No matter how miserable I look, you just can’t understand?”“But…” Lydia started but Ryan took her hand and interrupted her.“Understood.” he nodded “If that’s what you really want. If you need help just yell.”“Oh, I will. Of you go now!”The pair walked away from the huntress. The girl picked up the training sword and waited for the man’s instructions. Ryan showed her the stance and then patiently waited for her to copy what she saw. At first, it was similar to the stance she had to take during archery. Wide stance, right foot in front. She raised her heels and she lost some of her balance. She kept trying to keep her balance while she held out her sword. The man threw himself on the ground. He walked behind the girl and he softly placed his hands on her hip. This made her jump a little and blush.
Lydia was woken by the huntress the following morning. She rubbed her eyes as she sat up.“Come on, let’s surprise Ryan!” she smiled.“There’s no need for that.” the man just walked into the cave.“Eh, you’re a killjoy!” Caleigh groaned.“Come on, we have lots to do today! Otis is coming and most probably he will get back tomorrow. So let’s have breakfast and start training.”The girls nodded. Lydia got out of bed but felt extremely tired like she slept nothing at all the whole night. She had been full of energy ever since she started to awaken her wolf so this was a surprise for her. But maybe she should break another chain, that would help for sure. She kept thinking about her newfound powers during breakfast. And also about that who clumsy, she is at swordsmanship compared to Ryan. Even though he had been handling a sword all of his life, she suddenly felt inferior to the man and she didn’t like the feeling at all. All of her life she was treated like a human princess. She was the
Finding her wolf was becoming easier and easier for Lydia. When she saw the animal she walked up to her casually. She wasn’t afraid at all anymore. The wolf looked at her somewhat tiredly. So she felt her training, too. But they were so far away from the end. And who knew what was awaiting them at the Gemini Pack’s territory. She sat in front of the animal and waited patiently until she pushed her nose against her hand. She petted her head and smiled.“So you did feel that training, huh? We’re running out of time. Otis is coming.” she sighed. The wolf started the growl when she heard the name. She petted her head comfortingly. She looked at one of the chains.“It will be over soon. You will be free. Then we can go back to our pack. I just don’t want to kill anyone, you know?”The wolf lay her head in her lap to comfort her. Lydia smiled. She felt they grew closer in the past few days. She felt a little bit sad for the wolf was still not talking to her and she couldn’t ask for guidance
The man took his place right behind her.“Whenever you are ready. Let’s slow down the movements then.”His new approach seemed to be working. Step by step, Lydia started to understand what she should be doing. She kept repeating the movements faster and faster. Soon enough she managed to keep her balance without the man’s help and Ryan only supported her by her arm. She was still somewhat unsure about her strikes. He decided to switch tactics again. He picked up his sword and looked at the girl.“I will attack, try to keep your balance, hold up your sword. Try to use the sword for defense. But I will be happy if you can just avoid my sword without it.”The man struck without hesitation and hit the girl on her thigh. She cried out in pain and was hit again. That was fair, in a real fight, her opponent wouldn’t care if she was ready or not. She managed to avoid the next hit. She saw as Ryan smiled proudly at her but in the next second, he was ready to strike again. He kept swinging his
The trio exchanged confused looks. Otis wasn’t supposed to be there yet. Things were about to change for the worse. Otis wasn’t supposed to be back until the next day. They could either speed up their pieces of training or they could get out of there as soon as possible. The problem was, that they were not ready. With Caleigh’s rehabilitation, Lydia’s ongoing trainings, and Ryan’s repressed powers they wouldn’t have stood a chance against Axel if they had to go that far.“I thought he would come back tomorrow!” Caleigh cried out loud.“I know!” Ryan sighed “We really have to do our best from now on. But” he looked at Lydia “you must not free the wolf yet. You know that your body is not ready, right? And you have two more chains left. Breaking them could be fatal for you. And maybe all of us.”“Yes, I know!” she snapped “And we will try to remain calm, yes, but everything I could think about is now overwritten because your idiot brother returned!” she hissed.“Lydia, we’re all upset.”
Lydia. My friends nodded. We finished lunch and headed back to the training grounds. Caleigh got back to archery immediately. Ryan and I picked up the swords immediately. The man asked me to try to use my sword that time.It wasn’t as easy as it sounded. I got a little bit upset by Otis. I knew I had to remain calm. If I got angry, my wolf got angry. And I was sure she was strong enough to break the chains if she wanted to. I gritted my teeth and took my stance. I tried to keep my balance just as Ryan showed me before. I closed my eyes for a second and recollected everything I have learned from him. I opened my eyes when I felt ready and noted I was ready. He was seemingly content with me. We started off slowly that time, too. I managed to defend myself with the sword, almost every single time. I saw as Ryan was getting more and more proud of me and that also filled me with pride. As his movements were becoming faster and faster he seemed to be more and more tired. It was understandab
The huntress looked back at me again and smiled cheekily.“Isn’t it obvious? We’re dating now!”“Funny, nice try, huntress!” he rolled his eyes.“What makes you believe we’re not?”“You can’t be her type!”“Why not? Because I’m a woman?”“We all know what all women need.”“Ugh, don’t even start!” Caleigh groaned. That was when I decided to play along. I caressed her hand gently and sent her a smile.“Honey, don’t worry, I told you I can handle him! Well, Otis, if you want a date you have to work for it! I’m still not tired yet, so how about a little race?”“A race?” his eyes lit up.“Just a short one. If you can outrun me, I’ll go on a date with you!”“Can we at least talk about this?” Caleigh asked nervously.“I know what I’m doing, trust me.” I comforted her “There will be no date. There will be only humiliation. Are you in, Otis?”“Okay! I’m in, alright! And right after I beat you, you will end up in my bed!”“You wish!” I snapped “A short race, from here to the pond and back, deal
Caleigh and I exchanged a look. We all knew it was about me.“So, what is it now?” the huntress asked.“Do you know what my brother found? An army. An army of humans.”“Wait, are they going to attack us?” I asked.“Most probably not, unless they find us. We have to hope they would just turn the other way.”“But what do they want?”“They seem to be at war. And luckily, not with us. If they find us, we stand no chance! There are too many of them!”“So we have to stay alert?”“More than ever.”“Okay, time out!” the huntress stood up “Too much stress! Let’s go to the lake!”“Caleigh, we can’t take a break from everything right now!” he said “Lydia, please back me up!”I looked at Ryan then at Caleigh. The huntress was right. Too much happened in the past few days. My clan got massacred, I lost my memories, I’ve been abused by Ryan’s fan girls, we figured out how powerful my wolf is, we’ve been through intensive training, I killed a man, Otis wouldn’t leave us alone now that he’s back, and
