Chapter 1

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone held their breath and looked at Julian Mullen, who was outside the door.

The bride, Cosmo Foster, also didn't understand why her best friend, Selene Vance, had suddenly asked this question.

After all, Selene knew that Cosmo and Julian were each other's first loves and that they had both given their first time to each other.

But then, Selene asked three more questions in a row.

"Julian, do you dare admit that on the night you proposed to Cosmo, you actually slept with me first before rushing off to propose?

"Or that the bracelet you gave her on her birthday was just a free gift that came with the necklace you gave me?

"Or that we were tangled up on the very marital bed Cosmo is sitting on right now for three hours last night?"

When Cosmo heard the last question, her smile froze. She looked up in a daze at Julian standing outside the door.

She was certain that the man she had loved for ten years would never betray her and that these questions were simply Selene's way of testing him.

Cosmo forced a faint smile and said, "Selene, there are so many people here, and you don't even have a boyfriend. What if you ruin your reputation by saying all of this?"

"You don't believe me?" Selene smiled and told her to shift over a bit. "Get up and see what is under the covers."

Cosmo got out of bed, allowing Selene to lift the covers.

When the covers were thrown back, she saw a soaking wet lace thong lying on the embroidered bedsheet.

Cosmo recognized the thong. After all, she had gone with Selene to the lingerie shop to buy it. When Selene said she'd set her heart on this one, Cosmo had even teased her about it.

"It's a little too sexy, no? Who are you wearing it for? Are you seeing someone?"

Selene shook her head mysteriously.

"Not exactly, but close enough. I'll tell you when the time's right."

At the time, Cosmo was still wondering when exactly the right time would be. Alas, it turned out to be today.

"Cosmo, you should still remember this thong, right? I told you that day I was going to wear it for my boyfriend. Well, my boyfriend is actually Julian. Last night, I wore this thong and did it with him three times on this bed."

After saying that, Selene continued to press Julian, "Julian, let me ask you one last question. Do you dare to kiss me right now?"

To Julian's surprise, Selene had spilled all of it. Frowning, he ordered in a flustered tone, "Selene, that's enough."

"You don't dare? Fine, I'll kiss someone else then."

Selene turned to look at the groomsmen standing behind Julian and casually hooked an arm around one of the guys' neck. Just as she was about to kiss him, Julian suddenly rushed over uncontrollably and violently seized her wrist.

"Selene, you wouldn't dare!" he roared.

"Just watch me."

Selene struggled desperately to break free from Julian's grip, determined to kiss someone else. The next second, Julian had already cupped the back of her head and pressed a deep kiss to her lips.

The two clashed like flint on steel, lost in a kiss neither wanted to end.

The color drained from Cosmo's face in an instant. Staring blankly at the two people in front of her, she asked in a trembling voice, "Julian, do you even know what you are doing?"

Cosmo couldn't bear to listen either. She walked over to the bench and sat down, her mind in complete turmoil. She clearly hated Cathleen. And yet, in that moment, she was still terrified that Cathleen might actually die. After what felt like an eternity, the operating room doors finally opened. The doctor walked out and removed his mask."Who here is the patient's family?" he asked.Cosmo walked over and answered in an eerily calm tone, "I'm her daughter.""I'm sorry, but we've done everything we could. The patient ingested too much poison, leading to complete kidney failure. There's nothing more we can do. Please accept my condolences.""No!" Gloria was even more distraught than Cosmo. She rushed forward and grabbed the doctor's hand. Then, she dropped to her knees, begging, "Doctor, please save her. My friend's father died a long time ago, so she only has her mother left. The two of them depend on each other. If her mother dies, how is she supposed to live?"The doctor sho

When she heard the voice message, Cosmo laughed."Stop messing around, Julian. Since when did you become so childish? You'd even get someone to put on a show with you for something like this? Besides, I've already cut ties with my mom, so using her to trick me won't work."Cosmo was about to go back inside when Julian broke down and dropped to his knees."I'm telling the truth! I'm really not lying to you! Mrs. Foster is really poisoned! Cosmo, I admit I've lied to you many times before, but I swear on my lif—this time it's real."I told Selene I wanted to break up with her, but she refused to accept it. That's why she did something so drastic. Please come back with me. I'm afraid that if we're too late, you really won't get to see Mrs. Foster ever again."While Cosmo's mind went completely blank, a warm hand grasped hers.Carlton looked at her and said emphatically, "Don't be afraid, Cosmo. No matter what happens, I'll be by your side. Whether Julian's telling the truth or not,

In the apartment, Cosmo carefully tended to the wound on Carlton's cheek with a cotton swab dipped in iodine."Does it hurt?" Cosmo looked up at Carlton, her eyes gradually turning red. "I'm sorry, Mr. Stark. I didn't know Julian would resort to violence. If I had known, I never would have let you pretend to be my boyfriend.""Silly woman, why are you crying? I don't blame you at all." Carlton smiled at her gently. "Besides, to a man, a little injury like this is nothing.""If you think it's too much trouble, I won't come to the office starting tomorrow. I can resign, because I have a feeling Julian will come looking for me again. When that happens, it'll only cause you trouble. So, I might as well leave before it comes to that."Cosmo meant what she said. Although she really liked her current job, based on her understanding of Julian, there was no way he would give up so easily. In other words, he would definitely keep harassing her."You think I'd let go of a woman I admire just

"Fiancee?" Raising an eyebrow, Carlton reached out and pulled Cosmo into his arms. Then, he leaned close to her ear and whispered softly, "Since when did you become this man's fiancee? I thought you were my girlfriend."His thin lips brushed against her earlobe. A warm, tingling sensation shot through Cosmo like an electric current, making her shudder violently."Julian's insane, so you don't need to bother with him. You're the only one in my heart," Cosmo replied."Now that's my girl." Carlton turned to look at Julian, whose face had long since darkened. "You heard that? Cosmo said I'm the only one in her heart.""That's impossible! Cosmo, are you still angry about me and Selene? I've cut things off with her—we've broken up. I hired a private investigator and searched for days before I finally tracked you down here."I really know I was wrong now. Please stop being difficult and just come back with me. We can hold the wedding again, and I swear I definitely won't let you down thi

One day after work, a colleague suddenly screamed, "Come look! There's a handsome guy downstairs holding a bouquet of roses. I wonder who they're for.""Let me see! Damn, he's really handsome! Who in our company is dating such a handsome guy and keeping it a secret?""Handsome? Please—he's nothing compared to Mr. Stark and Irwin.""Get out of here. Men at this level are rare, okay?"The colleagues chatted excitedly, scrambling to look out the window.Someone even called Cosmo over to look."Cosmo, come take a look too. He's really handsome.""No, thanks. I still have a few orders to design," Cosmo said, shaking her head before turning back to her work.Irwin walked over to take a look. "Let me see how handsome he is."After seeing the man downstairs, Irwin's expression turned stern."It's him.""Irwin, you know him?" one of his colleagues asked."You guys can head out—unless you're looking for overtime?"The moment Irwin said that, everyone scattered.Only after seeing th
