LOGIN"Please," he gestured at Gaby as he motioned for her towards his office and murmured a thank you to the receptionist leaving the receptionist in shock. That would be the first time Seth Williams talked out to his employees politely out of his initiation. She could not even form words as she nodded continuously as the doors of the elevator closed.
'Why can't things be said about Mr Williams in this company,' she lamented to herself. She wished she could such thing with her fellow employees but she really loved her job. She didn't want to get fired. She didn't even want to think about the fact that Seth Williams himself had received Gaby on his own, he could have just let his assistant do it or she could have taken her up to his office. "You look shaken, are you alright?" Her fellow receptionist asked her after she went back to their desk seeing how shaken and sweaty she was."Uh no, no, I'm alright," her voice was still shaking as well. Seeing that she wasn't going to say anything, the other lady didn't ask again. After all, she also knew the rules of their company; no gossiping."Your employees are very professional Mr Williams," on the other hand, Gaby decided to make a small talk to rid off her embarrassing moment. She had never expected that she'll stare at someone like that. It's not she had never dated before, just she realized her ex boyfriends couldn't be compared to even a single hair of Seth Williams."We try to keep the atmosphere favourable to everyone inside this building. I'm glad they impressed you," Seth Williams replied in his baritone voice as he looked at the gorgeous woman walking beside him, she could barely reach his shoulders. 'Even her height compliments mine,' he thought to himself.Even his voice was pleasant to the ears. Gaby could feel her ears tingling and butterflies doing summersaults in her stomach. 'Keep a hold of yourself Ella,' it seemed like her body was out of control but she tried to keep it in. She didn't want to embarrass herself more than she had."Yeah, I'm impressed. It's so much different from the news outside,""Oh, what have you heard Miss Jones," he was intrigued at her attempt at making a small talk. Many people have always been cautious when talking to him but it seemed like she's a different one, just talking about what she thinks."Uh how proud your company is, I thought I'd find it's employees the same as their boss, you know narcissistic and very proud. I'm surprised it's all a lie," Gaby didn't hide what she thought. She was brought up by two men who always taught her to be honest. She was surprised when she heard Seth laugh beside her, even his laugh was beautiful which made her laugh as well. "And your laugh, it's contagious," she said as she looked up at him."Really? Thank you. I like how honest you are and there's nothing I can do about what people think of me or my company or employees. They are free to write and report whatever they want in the news. That's their source of income," Seth said as he opened the door to his office and motioned for Gaby to get in first."Wow," that's the first word that left Gaby's lips when she saw the interior of Seth's office. It was not your typical billionaire's office with those dark toned colours, black and grey. Seth's office had a very bright blue and white theme making the office look more homy and very comfortable. Except for the black leather office chair and tables, everything else was either blue or white."You like it?" Seth asked Gaby after hearing the exclamation from her."It feels so comfortable, I love it," she had even forgotten why she was there in the first place. 'Why is this man treating me so gently like I am not here for business. First, he meets me at the elevator and now asking me if I love his office. Am I missing something?' she thought to herself but didn't voice it out.The door clicked shut behind her.For a moment, Seth didn’t move. Then he let out a slow breath, dragging a hand through his hair as if grounding himself. Five minutes—he’d asked for it, planned for it, thought it would be enough to make an impression. It wasn’t.But it was something. And with her… something mattered.—Gabriella didn’t stop walking until she reached the elevator.Only then did she press the button and let her shoulders drop—just slightly. What was that? She stared at her reflection in the polished metal doors. Composed. Untouched. Exactly how she always looked. So why did her pulse feel off? She knew that staying around Seth for long might let him catch on, she was sure Seth was aware of the effect he had on her, but he never talked about it, not even once. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable and that made her feel good that he cared about her feelings.“You’d let me walk away…”The words echoed faintly in her mind.No deals. No conditions. She knew that he
Seth set the glass down on the small table in front of her.“Warm honey water,” he said simply.Gabriella’s eyes flickered to it, then back to him. “You’re very confident.”“I’m observant,” he corrected, taking the seat opposite her—not too close, not too far. Careful. She didn’t reach for the glass immediately. “Or calculated.” He didn't even bother asking her what she wanted to drink, and last time, she only said warm water but it came with honey in it. He had been hinting at her since their first meeting.“Would it be worse if I said both?”Her lips twitched, but she masked it quickly. “It would be honest.”“Then I’ll stick with that.”A beat passed.Gabriella finally picked up the glass, her fingers brushing against the warmth. She took a small sip, more to buy herself a moment than out of thirst.“You do realize,” she said, setting it back down, “this doesn’t earn you extra time.”“I know,” Seth replied. “This is me not wasting the five minutes you already gave me.”She leaned ba
Gabriella tilted her head slightly, studying him as if she were weighing all the options she had, but then realised she didn't have much, she had already agreed and also as a businesswoman, she knew not to back down on a deal.“Don’t get too comfortable,” she added, her tone cool but not unkind. “Being ahead of schedule doesn’t mean you’ve passed anything yet.”Seth let out a soft chuckle, slipping his hands into his pockets. “So there’s a test.”“There’s always a test,” she replied. “You just don’t get to see the questions in advance.”“That’s a little unfair, don’t you think?”Gabriella shrugged. “You didn’t exactly start this fairly either.” She was never given the chance to make a choice, with her family in dire saving and only him who could save them. The words landed, not harsh—but precise. A reminder. A boundary. For a moment, Seth didn’t respond. He watched her instead, something quieter settling behind his usual confidence.“Alright,” he said finally, nodding once. “Then I’ll
"Thank you Miss Jones. Mr Williams is expecting you," the lady said to Gabriella and she knew that Seth would be waiting for her at the elevator doors. The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime.Gabriella stepped out first, holding the contract folder a little tighter than necessary. The familiar reception floor felt different this time—quieter, like the air itself was waiting. Before she could take more than two steps forward, the hallway ahead seemed to already know she was coming.Seth was there.Leaning casually near the elevator doors leading into the executive corridor, as though he had been standing there long enough to make waiting look effortless. When he saw her, his expression shifted—still calm and smiling too.“Gabriella,” he said, like he had been holding the name in mind all day.She stopped a few feet away, studying him for a moment. “You didn’t have to wait here.”“I know.” A faint smile. “But I wanted to.”A pause stretched between them. She lifted the folder sl
She almost slapped herself for forgetting such a serious issue. That grace period of one week from Seth Williams had given her so much freedom that she even forgot about it. When she checked the date, she was glad she wasn't out of time because that was the last day that Seth Williams wax expecting a response from her and also when their company's destiny would be decided."Miss Jones, you are a tricky one," that was the first word that came from Seth Williams' mouth when Gabriella Jones finally called him on the last day he had given her to think about her decision regarding her father's company. "Mr Williams, I'm in time just like you had indicated during our meeting," Gabriella was not going to go along with Seth's direction. Like her brother Sam said, she was not an easy target."I see," Seth Williams chuckled hearing Gabriella's reply. His voice was so deep on the phone that it made Gabriella's stomach full of tingly sensations. She tried as much as possible not to speak so that
Now, his children wanted to protect him even at the cost of their own happiness. He wondered what he had done in his past life to deserve such children. The reaction he had expected from them had been the total opposite and felt relieved somehow. They had grown so much even without the presence of their mother in their life and had become independent. When his children left to go back to their places, Mr Jones felt like a huge load had been lifted off his shoulders, but at least his children didn't hate him for what he did, rather they were understanding and willing to help in his company situation. Their effort as a family was going to save them. He really was thankful to his kids for being so understanding even though he didn't say it, they knew their dad was really appreciative.Inside the car, Sam Jones decided to talk to his sister again just to make sure that she was doing the right thing and not just being pressured into doing it. The moment his sister wanted to ride in his car
