TODD’S POV “What the fuck Leslie?!” I said in annoyance as I pushed her back. She gave a shocked yelp as she stumbled backwards but soon her eyes started to dart around the empty hall. “What the hell was that for, Leslie?” I asked her angrilly but she was still narrowing her eyes around. I had come to the backroom after escaping my lousy and excited teammates. I knew that Rory would come here to see me. It was like a tradition after games. She would race to the back and give me a big congratulatory hug. But I was shocked to see Leslie here instead and she had told me she wanted to speak to me about something. I was ready to listen to what she wanted to as as well as scold her for telling Rory nonsense but she had pulled me to her and started kissing me immediately. “Why are you acting like this is the first time we are kissing? We have kissed at least a thousand times, Todd.” She said with a scoff as she folded her arms across her chest. “I don’t care how many times we
RORY’S POV“He’s not going to turn! He’s not going to turn!” I lamented nervously to myself as the basketball team made its way on to the court in a file.My eyes lit up when I saw him chanting along as he walked with them. Usually, he would have sent a wink or an eyebrow wriggle or a thumbs up or a heart shaped sign (one of my personal favorites) towards my direction but Todd was not going to do that now because he was not expecting me to be seated here. I don’t blame him, he had left me less than an hour ago in the middle of my heated decathlon and all of a sudden here I was seated in the bleachers to support him. The truth is that my decathlon only ended twenty minutes ago. Yes, I won. Again. And the moment the decathlon ended, I was out of there running towards the basketball court like my life depended on it.Thankfully I got in early enough to bribe whoever was now on my favorite seat and just before the game was about to begin.Rosalie had helped me by taking my plaque and
TODD’S POV“The only reason I am letting you off is because this has never happened before. I don’t know you as someone is careless. This is why I always encourage you boys to always watch your diet.” Coach said with his eyes on me.His voice sounded cool, smooth and understanding yet somehow it sounded strict and with a hint of warning.“Thank you Coach.” I said and gave a quick bow.“Now get out and join the rest to do the stretches. You will start the game on the bench.” He said with a low growl in his under tone.“Thank you very much Coach. Again, I’m sorry.” I said and then gave a slight bow before letting myself out of the office.“You are some daring ass motherfucker!” Laurel said with a low whisper. He had been leaning against the corner of the wall waiting for me to come out. As I stepped out, he fell in to step beside me with a very judgemental look that came with a raised nose.“What do you want man? A thank you kiss for helping me out?” I asked him as we walked.Laurel ha
RORY’S POV This would have been so nice if it were a simple quiz or a more direct competition and not a heated Decathlon. If it was a simple quiz then I know that by now I would have been announced as the winner. I would have jumped in to Todd’s arms after receiving my gold medal and plaque, then he would have kissed my forehead before giving me the beautiful bouquet of flowers. Then hand in hand, we will head to the basketballers locker room, I’ll wish him Goodluck and proceed to watch his own game. But in my situation, Todd had been seated for hours and I was beginning to worry about his game. Why? Because this decathlon is taking forever!! Why? Do I need to explain the concept of a heated decathlon for you guys? Think of it like a marathon of tough questions coming your way for hours. Yes, hours and hours of being fed with extremely hard questions only to see who will emerge as a winner. With my extremely high level of intelligence, I have never been one to get nervous abo
I watched him walk away still feeling my face all heated up because of the fact that he had kissed me on my cheek, right out in the open. “Todd!” I called quickly realzing that I had not told him Goodluck with his game tonight. He stopped just as he was at the end of the hall and he turned around to me.I skipped towards him, making sure that even if i was running, I was not doing so too quickly. “Is everything okay?” He asked me, his eyebrows creased.“Yes.” I said breathlessly. “Everything is okay. It’s just that, I didn’t tell you Goodluck. So, Goodluck.””A warm smile settled on his lips and his whole face looked more relaxed . “Now that I’ve spoken to you, that’s all the luck I need Candy.” He said brushing my cheek gently and then he tapped my nose. “Thanks Nerd.” I gave him a playful frown as I rubbed my nose.“Remember,” I said giving him a pointed finger. “Winners don’t worry about winning, we worry about the margin we give our opponent.”“Yes Ma’am!” Todd said with a s
RORY’S POV Well how can I say No to him when he was looking at me like that? And asking me like that?I sighed and covered my face in my hands.“She told me that you only want me as your date because you pity me.” I said.Todd’s eyes widened slightly at me.“She said what?” He said, his voice rising and his eyes more alive now. “That’s not true. I really want you as my date to the dance.” He protested.“I think she was just trying to stop me from damaging your image.” I said looking down at my fingers.Todd clicked his tongue. “She did say a lot, did she not?” He wanted to know as he folded his arms at me.“She only spoke the truth .” I said.“Oh really?” He challenged me. “Wow! It seems like you and Leslie have become really good friends. You must trust her so much to throw me under the bus like that and believe all she says.”His voice sounded like it was laced with bitterness. I managed to steal a glance at him and his eyes held hurt and bitterness. My stomach clenched in guilt
