LYRA*Everyone in the room gasped; our mom and Jace's aunt shrieked and started bouncing around in anticipation. Tears began rolling down Vega's eyes. Yet, she hadn't answered. Vega looked at me and then smiled brightly at Jace."Yes, Jace; I'll marry you and become Mrs. Jace Cunningham," Vega screamed excitedly, and Jace placed the ring on her finger. The ring Jace had gotten Vega was gorgeous; the ring had a round-cut diamond that stood in the center, and smaller diamonds outlined the outside of the diamond and also outlined the band. Jace did well in picking out the engagement ring.I was so happy for Vega, but I couldn't help being jealous. I can't wait until Blaze proposes to me. I don't want him to do it in front of God and everybody, though. Blaze and I alone somewhere when he kneels on one knee to propose is perfect sounding. I also don't want the traditional diamond ring either. Blaze would need to think outside the box for sure.Vega jumped up, and Jace quickly followed, and
BLAZE*"Lunch was delightful, thank you, Mrs.Riley," I said.Nothing beats a good old-fashioned country fried chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes. I know now where the girls had gotten their cooking skills."Mr. Riley, is there any way Jace and I could speak to you for a little while. It's about a building project for the girls," I asked.Jace ran out to the car and grabbed the building plans, and met us in Richard's office. We talked about everything concerning investments, grants, and permits. The hoops that we would need to go through, but Richard would be helping us get through all of that. Richard and Rebecca have put in for their retirement and will be retiring by January. So they would have loads of free time. Richard and Rebecca would help us get started, and then once they sold their house, they would be hitting the road. They have wanted to travel for years, but their workload has prevented them from doing so, Richard had said.We needed to find the land and go from th
BLAZE*"Jace, is there any way you could have Vega take Lyra somewhere for a couple of hours? Maybe to go dress shopping or something so that I can set up everything in the backyard for tonight?" I asked Jace as I poured my morning coffee."Oh yes. I'm sure Vega wouldn't object to that, and I could help you set things up. I'm free until Vega, and I leave later this evening," Jace said as he poured himself a glass of coffee. We both sat down at the table. It's my turn to cook breakfast, but I need one cup of coffee to get me going in the mornings, or I'm dead on my feet. It's eight o'clock on a Saturday morning, and the girls wouldn't be awake for at least another hour.I've learned never to wake Lyra up before nine o'clock on a Saturday; unless I wanted a monster breaking through the surface. I've also learned, however, that if there weren't anything ready for breakfast once the girls woke up, Jace and I would get the same results, monsters."Jace, that would be great if you could hel
BLAZE*"Are you loving your wine and strawberries, love?" I asked Lyra as she savored the taste of the last strawberry."Mmm, yes, absolutely wonderful, dear, thank you; Blaze, you don't even know how perfect this all is," Lyra said as she glanced around at all of the decorations Jace and I had thrown up."Anything for you, my angel," I said as I grabbed Lyra's hand and squeezed it softly. It wasn't long ago that this arm was in a cast. I can't believe Lyra was seated next to me right now, and she's my fiance. I don't think I deserve this beautiful angel sitting next to me."You ready for the main course," I asked Lyra as I stood from my seat."Yes, It smelled so go when I walked in from the garage. I can't wait," Lyra said and beamed."Ok, I'll be right back," I said as I walked toward the house.Lyra was going to go nuts over my homemade Ziti and Meatball Bake. I also prepared stuffed mushrooms and Asparagus. I grinned to myself as I walked toward the oven. I grabbed the oven mitts
BLAZE*"Mom, we don't need a lavish engagement party. Please don't go through the trouble," I said."You know how much I love throwing parties, Blaze. That's why you and your cousins built this large dining area in our home. The engagement party will be next weekend. It's going to happen, end of the discussion," my mom said as she took a sip of wine.Well, there you have it. Every other Saturday evening was spent at my parent's house, where all of us Cunninghams gather for dinner and catch up on recent events. Of course, the night after I proposed to Lyra happened to be on Saturday night dinner. My mom, as you can see, is beyond excited for Jace, Vega, Lyra, and me. Lyra and Vega both seemed excited about the engagement party. They have all been talking excitedly about it, along with Lyra and Vega's mom Rebecca since we arrived."Come over here, son; we need to talk," Richard said as he turned me around and pushed me towards the couch."What's wrong, sir?" I said as we both sat down.
LYRA* Vega and I have reconciled from our fight. We can never be mad at each other for too long. Vega usually was the one that had it all together, but this wedding business has turned her into a bridezilla, and we haven't even really begun preparing for anything. I told Vega about the dream I had about us getting married, and then she understood why I wanted a double wedding. In my dream, we were on a beach, though, so the setting would be different, but that's ok. Maybe we could go to the coast for our honeymoon. Either way, I'm stoked that we are on board for a double wedding now. Vega and Jace have also decided to stay here in our house for now, but I have a feeling they won't be staying long. Which is ok, I suppose. Vega and I can't be permenately joined at the hip forever. At some point, we would be growing families of our own.Vega and I contacted Kathleen about designing and making our wedding dresses. She is fantastic at designing and tailoring dress
LYRA*The last two months had gone by so quickly it made my head spin. Vega and I decided that September was too long to wait to get married. So Vega and I set our wedding date for May twenty-fifth.Vega and I were currently at Kathleen's for a dress fitting. She has both dresses almost completed. It was starting to feel so real."Alright, Vega, I need to let your dress out a bit. It's snug around your tummy and bust area. Never fear this type of thing happens all of the time with brides, with stress eating, and so on," Kathleen said as she adjusted the pins on Vega's dress. Vega turned beet red and nodded and then looked at me with a horrified look on her face. I wonder what had gotten her panties in a twist.Kathleen helped Vega out of her dress and then came over to me."It looks like I'll need to take your dress Lyra. You have lost weight or toned up a bit since you were last here," Kathleen said as she adjusted the pins on my dress. I had gained weight, but it was all muscle; I w
JACE*Vega and Lyra looked at each other with surprise written all over their faces. I could only wonder what was about to go down. Vega and Lyra grinned happily; YES, I did well. I was a bit scared there for a second that I had overstepped somehow."This is so wonderful, Jace; I know you are probably thinking WHAT right now since this is coming from me, but I know how much Vega wanted her wedding to be at the Vineyard. I know that I can be a little irrational at times, but this is great for you both, thank you for looking out for Vega," Lyra said as she stood up and hugged Vega."It looks like we will need to get a maid of honor dress for you now," Vega said happily and stood and hugged Lyra back. Then Vega walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "Thank you so much, Jace; this is perfect," Vega said, and then her eyes grew wide. "Oh my goodness, we have nothing ready for our wedding, and it is in three weeks. How are we going to get everything ready by then?" Vega asked."I know you
