My eyes and ears were deceiving me. Dr.Stevenson did not just say Lyra and I are having twins. Lyra looked like she was about to hyperventilate; Lyra and I both seemed to be in shock.

"Excuse me, Dr. Stevenson, but repeat that one more time; I don't think I heard you correctly," I said.

"You both look like you're in shock; sit down, Blaze, and I will move the monitor closer," Dr. Stevenson said as she adjusted the screen.

I sat down and squeezed Lyra's hand. At first, I freaked out, but as I saw the two heartbeats fluttering on the screen and then heard them beating in time together, I grew excited. They looked nothing like babies right now; it was all so interesting. I can understand why Vega and Jace called Nicholas a bean or an alien at first.

Lyra was going to be eating for three for the next six months. If she could get to where she could keep some food down, that is. I looked at Lyra, and she beamed at me happily; the shock had cleared.
