Chapter Twenty One

The story behind the curtain

Ryker held me without saying until I calmed down. The only sound you'll hear are the sound of the waves, the distinct chatter around us and my sobs that later on turned into sniffles. I am thankful that I have a friend who is willing to comfort and just hold me. Because I don't know what'll do or who'll I turn to if it weren't for him.

I took a deep breath and groaned a little at the headache I'm feeling. I wiped my face and entangled myself from him. I'm positive my eyes are swollen because of the amount of tears from my eyes. I don't think I can shed tears anymore. I would like to think that all I ever heard was a nightmare. A bad dream I never want to experience again.

"Thanks, Ryker." I muttered silently with a sniff.

"Don't mention it. But ... can you please tell me why were you crying?" he asked almost hesitantly and gently. I can see the genuine look of concern in his eyes.
