Chapter 2

Author: Shark cat
I held the door shut and let them keep pounding on it from inside.

The sound of splashing water, terrified voices, and some suggestive noises filled the room.

The person knocking gradually grew weaker.

I tossed away my cigarette butt and opened the door.

Shannon crashed into my arms. Her eyes welled up with tears as she sobbed and pleaded, “Sir, some guests are pinning my sister down on the pool terrace! Please, you have to save her!”

I casually wrapped my arm around Shannon, and my fingers slid across her chest.

Her whole body trembled. For a moment, she forgot what she was going to say.

However, I did not let my hand move any lower. Instead, I took out a green gemstone necklace and put it on her.

Then, I said gently, “Don’t be scared. This necklace looks great on you.”

She was at a loss as she stared at the expensive necklace.

I gently adjusted the necklace so its pinhole camera could see underneath her clothes.

Then, I pulled her along and rushed over to Jadine, who was pinned down on the terrace by several people. Her clothes were torn to pieces, and her pigtails were being yanked.

A fat man was about to force himself on her.

The scene stunned me for a moment, but I quickly snapped back to my senses.

I grabbed a vase and smashed it over the fat man’s head. Then, I went berserk and beat the other two until they could not get up.

After that, I called the police. “Hello, police? I’d like to report an assault. Three men are attacking a girl!”

After saying that, I wrapped the weeping Jadine with a towel and carried her back to my room.

Her voice was choked with emotion. “Sir, thank you. Thank you so much.”

After I had beaten the three men to the floor, Shannon also looked at me with admiration and gratitude as she stuck close to my side.

They treated me like their savior.

Little did they know that I only stepped in to test these two foolish women before deciding how to use them.

After I got them settled in the room, I looked at my empty call log and smiled.

I certainly had not called the police.

Guests came looking for a fling, and I supplied the women. It was just simple supply and demand.

These two prime catches were not something a twenty-thousand-dollar watch could buy.

I smoked a cigarette outside, then pushed the door open.

The two sisters were still jumpy, but they breathed a sigh of relief when they saw it was me.

I slumped down on the floor and asked, “Why did you catch that watch? The second you caught it, that watch was yours, and you belonged to them.

“Now I’ve upset that fatso, and I’m afraid that this guesthouse will be trashed. It’s not making money, and I don’t have the cash to keep renovating it.”

Jadine collapsed onto the floor. She grabbed my hand, and her face was full of guilt. “Sir, I didn’t know. I’m sorry. I really wasn’t trying to take that watch!”

Shannon also knelt in front of me. She tilted her head back, and tears streamed down her delicate face.

“Sir, I’m sorry that Jadine didn’t know any better.

“I’ll take responsibility for this. Let’s just call the police, okay? We won’t run. We won’t leave you here alone!”

I looked into their eyes, and for a moment, my mind drifted back several years, to when I had casually sponsored two little girls’ schooling.

Those two pairs of innocent, glistening eyes had not changed at all.

For a brief instant, a thought flickered through my mind—I considered letting them go.

Just then, I felt an electric current run through my wrist. The sharp pain jolted every nerve in my body and snapped me back to reality.

I was a shameless man pretending to be some kind of saint.

So, I raised my head and looked at them with a pale face.

“Have you ever heard of Golden Flowers?”

I laughed and spat out a mouthful of blood. “Edward, there’s a secret I never told you.”He stopped in his tracks and shot me a sharp look. “What secret?”My breath was faint. I barely had any strength left. “Come closer. Look at me. Do I really scare you now?”He hesitated for a long time, and I kept talking. “It’s about my mom.”His expression shifted slightly, and he crouched down to listen. I leaned close to his ear and said, “When I was going through my mom’s things, a letter fell out. She said she was willing to die for you.”His breathing grew ragged. He glared at me fiercely. “What else did she say?”My smile widened as my hand moved toward my pocket. “She said she loved you. She’ll be waiting for you in the underworld.”The next moment, blood splattered. I drove the small knife Shannon had left me into his neck. This knife had originally been meant for the two of us. If one of us did not die outright, the other was supposed to end our suffering. He clutched his nec

I looked completely unbothered. A slap on the wrist like that could never make up for Jadine’s death or all the years of suffering I had endured.Shannon gently set a small bag down on the stool. Before ending it all, I wanted to ask a few questions. I looked at Edward and asked, “Did you ever regret what happened to my mom?”He shook his head calmly. Then, I looked at George. “You’re the one who killed Jadine. I want you to apologize to her in front of her grave. Loud enough for everyone to hear. Three times. I want you to own up to what you did. Will you do it?”George was furious. “You want me to apologize to a loose woman? Jordan, have you lost your mind?”He lunged at me, aiming to strike, but Edward’s butler, Keith Lance, held him back. Keith barely moved, yet George could not shift even half an inch. I knew full well he was not just any butler.Edward had been guarding against me. I laughed openly and without holding back. “Fine then. Go keep her company in the under

I stared at the bag and headed to the warehouse without a moment’s hesitation.Along the way, I thought about a lot of things. I realized I had truly accomplished nothing in this life. I had failed to protect my mother, and I had failed to kill my father. Then, I had failed to make it to the end with the woman I loved. All in all, I had lived a wretched, meaningless life. So, I decided to drag some people down with me.When I reached the warehouse, Shannon was tied up in the middle. The moment she saw me, tears streamed down her face. She was usually gentle and obedient. However, at this moment, she screamed at me, “Go! Why did you even come?”I sat down beside her with the bag on my back and pointed at the sunset with a smile. “Look. The sunset’s gorgeous. Being alive is the greatest.”However, there was a bomb in my bag that was ready to go off at any moment.I stood up, held her head, and kissed her deeply. “Shannon, promise me you’ll live.”She was in despair as she sobb

By the time I got there, the VIP room was a total wreck. Jadine lay in the middle of it.I was so furious that I screamed at George and everyone else there, “I’ll kill anyone who tries to stop me!”Nobody blocked my way. However, George, who was lurking in the shadows, just laughed. “She’s already dead. Take her if you want.”Panic hit me, and my body started trembling uncontrollably. That was when I finally realized that something was wrong with her. I dropped to my knees and gently patted her face, sobbing. “Jadine! Jadine, it’s Jordan. I’m here. Wake up. Come on, wake up!”No matter how frantically I shouted, her glistening eyes never opened again. When I let go, her arm fell limply. The last bit of warmth in her skin slowly went cold, and the chaotic, flickering lights faded away.Under the harsh lights, I finally saw the full extent of her injuries. Jadine had been tortured beyond recognition. She had been tortured so savagely that no one showed her even a shred of decen

When I woke up, the first person I saw was Shannon, fast asleep. Jadine noticed I was awake and started to say something. I put a finger to my lips, so she just looked at me and kept quiet.I gently pulled my hand out of Shannon’s grip. Even that small movement was enough to wake her. She opened her eyes and looked at me. They were red and swollen from crying. She threw her arms around me. “The doctor said... he said you...”I cut her off with a calm smile. “That I don’t have much time left. I know. It’s okay. I’ll just be living on in a different way.”I waved Jadine over, and she came toward me with her head down.I coughed a few times before I could speak. “Stop following me. Move to another city and focus on your studies. They won’t dare make too big a scene.”Shannon shook her head. “I’m not leaving! I’ll earn the money for your medical bills!”Jadine refused, too. She looked at Shannon and me with a complicated expression. “I’m not leaving either. After all, you’re the g

“I don’t have much time left, George. Don’t think for a second I don’t know what you’re up to. “You’ve watched me get more and more successful working under your father all these years, and it’s been eating at you. Now you want to take me down and take everything I’ve got.“You’ve been with every kind of woman out there. There’s no way you’d lose control like some wild animal that easily.”George stopped what he was doing and looked at me like nothing had happened. Then, he poured himself a row of shots and said casually, “Jordan, you’ve made a fortune these past ten years. You’ve completely outshone me. “Even my father’s men say you’re more like his son than I am. Isn’t that right?”I sneered. “Cut the nonsense! My business, all of it, goes to you. I don’t want a single cent!“Remember this, George. I fought my way up on my own! If you don’t let them go, and if you push me too far, I’ll go all out and fight you to the death today!”I patted my pocket as a warning. He did no
