I stepped into the kitchen staring at her face that I have missed for so long. I walked towards her without taking my eyes off her. I thought that if I did, she might disappear.
I stood right in front of her and I saw how her eyes were red, probably from crying. Stooping down to my knees I levelled my face with hers.
In just a second, her eyes welled up again and tears threatened to roll down her cheeks. My heart bounded inside my chest and I felt a lump down my throat. I wanted to hug her and kiss her tears away but I was chained by guilt in front of her eyes staring back at me.
