I ended the call with Jack and lost all of my senses at once. His words echoed in my ears continuously: “that thing is dangerous, don’t show it to anyone, and be careful around it”

“Oh god it is all my fault. I even dragged Mia into this mess” I blamed myself for everything. I shouldn’t have gone to the attic in the first place.

I stayed up all night pacing back and forth in my room, thinking about everything that happened since we found it and how it all made sense now.

My alarm sounded next to me, bringing me back to reality. I got ready for school as fast as possible, gathered everything and went straight to Mia’s house. I wanted to catch her before she boarded the bus.

I parked in front of her house and waited after I called her like a million times. It took her 15 minutes to come out. She stepped into the car complaining: “what the hell Kevin? You scared me. Why are you here? Did something….”
