Lucien’s POV

The night had been nothing short of brutal. Every bone in my body had ached under the pull of the full moon, every breath a fight against the beast clawing at the edges of my control. The air outside the hospital had been sharp and cold, biting through my clothes as I paced the forest that surrounded it. Each sound—the rustle of branches, the whisper of wind through the trees—scraped against my nerves. The wolf inside me wanted out, wanted to run, to tear through the night until nothing but silence remained. But I couldn’t. I was way too worried about her that I didn't. Though I remained out just incase my wolf prevailed.

By the time the sky began to lighten, I was drained. My boots crunched against the frost-coated ground as I walked back toward the building, my body heavy with exhaustion. My throat burned, my muscles throbbed, but none of that mattered. All I could think about was her—her face, her voice, the way she’d looked last night when the doctor mentioned the te

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   128: Followed

Natasha’s POVThe day felt strange from the moment I opened my eyes. Not because my body hurt or because something in me had changed, but because my mind wouldn’t stop circling the same thought over and over again—pregnancy. The word itself had been enough to freeze me, to paralyze every part of my reasoning. I didn’t even know what to feel. Fear? Shock? Or confusion? Maybe all of it. The thought of a child growing inside me, something that could tie me to him forever, made my heart race in a way I couldn’t explain. Every time I blinked, the doctor’s face from last night replayed in my mind, his calm tone, his careful words, and Lucien’s silence afterward. That silence had been the loudest sound in the room.I tried to convince myself it wasn’t real. That it was just a mistake or a possibility that could easily fade away. But the moment my hand brushed against my stomach, even accidentally, my mind betrayed me.At least my body felt lighter today. The cold that had been tugging me dow

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   126: Panicking

Natasha's POVThe silence in the room was sharp, almost humming. I could hear the faint ticking of the clock on the wall, the whisper of the air conditioner, the soft squeak of the nurse’s shoes against the polished floor. My stomach felt heavy, a dull twist that refused to go away. The doctor had been quiet for too long, and when he finally straightened, adjusting his glasses, his next words made the air thicken instantly.“We might have to do a pregnancy test,” he said.My eyes flew to him, and then to Lucien. I froze, the words bouncing around my head like I hadn’t heard them right. A pregnancy test? I blinked once, twice, waiting for him to say something else—something that would make sense of what I’d just heard. But he didn’t. He just looked at me with that calm doctor’s face, like he’d said something normal.“Preg—pregnancy?” My voice cracked around the word, and it sounded strange coming from me. I laughed, nervously, though it came out flat. “That’s not possible, right?”Luci

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   125: Awful

Natasha’s POVThe car kept humming softly as we drove down the long stretch of road, the world outside blurring into streaks of gray and green. It felt like we’d been driving forever—long enough for me to start wondering if Lucien even knew where we were going. The silence between us was heavy, filled only by the soft sound of tires eating up the miles. The clock on the dashboard glowed faintly, each passing minute dragging slower than the last. My legs ached from sitting too long, and the cold that had settled into my body after falling into that freezing water earlier refused to leave. No matter how warm the car was, I couldn’t stop shivering. The chill felt deeper than skin, like something that had taken root inside me.Outside, the sky had started to dim. The colors were fading into deep purples and bruised blues, the kind that made the world look quieter. The full moon was climbing slowly, pale and distant behind thin clouds, its glow almost ghostly. I stole a glance at Lucien. H

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   124: You can't be serious

SONIA’S POVHis words were meant to sting, and they did. But instead of giving him the satisfaction of seeing me angry, I smiled. That kind of calm, slow smile that held more venom than a hiss ever could.“It’s better to be a second wife,” I said softly, my voice edged with mock sweetness, “than to lurk around waiting for an opportunity that will never come.”The smirk on his face faltered. Just slightly—but enough for me to see that I’d hit him where it hurt. His eyes hardened for a second before he masked it with a scoff, but it was too late. I had already seen the tiny crack in his pride.I tilted my head, holding his gaze a little longer, just to make sure the silence pressed against him. Then I turned away, my smile still faint on my lips as I started walking again. My heels clicked on the marble floor, echoing through the hallway. Each step was deliberate, steady, and heavy with every bit of anger I refused to show him.My maids hurried behind me, carrying my bags—boxes, gowns,

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   123: Second Wife

SONIA’S POVThe cars came to life and I watched them go one after the other, the ones at the front. Lucien’s in the middle and the ones at the back, guarding them from behind. I stood there, unmoving, my eyes fixed on the spot where it vanished, my hands clenched so tightly the tips of my nails bit into my palms. Every breath burned with intense fury. He didn’t even look back. Not even once. The last thing I heard from him was that cold command—Drive—like I was nothing, like I meant absolutely nothing to him.The insult sat heavy inside me, like something clawing its way through my veins. It stung more than I wanted to admit. He didn’t even hesitate for a second. He just turned his back on me.And then that girl—Natasha. The way she stumbled into his arms, the way he caught her like she was something fragile. I saw it all. The way his fingers lingered at her waist, steady and careful, like she was a piece of glass he couldn’t afford to drop. That should have been me.The thought mad
