Chapter 2

Author: Bagel
Getting treatment funds from Chloe was harder than snatching a meal from a rabid Alpha's jaws.

"What wolf-spirit stabilizer costs two hundred thousand all at once? Luna, you're not just making an excuse to get some pocket money, are you?"

"Two hundred thousand is no small sum. Luna, could you please provide a detailed treatment plan before I apply the seal? For now, I'll have to reject this."

I explained to her that it was an emergency moonstone energy intervention and that a detailed plan could only be determined after my wolf had stabilized.

Chloe stroked her chin with fingers painted blood-red, feigning a sudden realization. "Oh, I see. My wolf is naturally strong, so I've never needed any of this treatment. I'm just not familiar with these things."

"However, the pack's financial approval procedures are extremely strict. These kinds of situations are easily exploited. How about this, Luna, you get the Moon Priestess to issue a certificate for emergency intervention, and then I'll approve it?"

Then she narrowed her eyes. "Then again, even the Moon Priestess could be bribed. I'm not doubting you, Luna, I just have a duty to protect the Alpha's reputation."

"Why don't you also attach the pack's medical regulations as proof?"

And just like that, Chloe delayed and delayed, until the most critical window for my wolf's healing had closed.

By the time I finally got the money, even the most brilliant healer in the pack could only shake his head in regret.

In that moment, endless hatred twisted with soul-tearing agony inside me.

I knew this was the end.

A suffocating weight settled in my chest. My wolf let out one last mournful cry from the depths of my consciousness, then dissipated completely.

This mate bond was no longer a sacred, life-saving connection, but a cage that imprisoned me.

Once I was clear on what I had to do next, a sudden lightness washed over me, as if the weight of the Alpha's dominance that had pressed on me for so many years had abruptly vanished.

So, when I came across Chloe's provocative post on the pack's internal network, I felt nothing.

The photo showed Logan, hand over hand, teaching her how to fight.

I was even calm enough to save a screenshot, then casually gave it a like.

When it came to Chloe, Logan's messages were always swift.

"Sienna, why are you liking random posts again? That was just training. Don't overthink it."

"You know you're the only one in my heart. Chloe is like my right hand. She's a sister to me."

He immediately sent another message:

"Since you've already liked it, unliking it now will just make you look petty. Everyone is watching."

"Be a good girl. Leave a comment praising Chloe. It's a chance to show your grace as Luna, and it helps me maintain my image. You're always so understanding, right?"

I wasn't going to bother responding.

But after thinking it over, I couldn't swallow the bitter resentment in my heart.

So I did as Logan asked.

"Secretary Chloe is indeed the best 'sister.' She not only helps the Alpha with his work but also with his personal life. Holding the Luna's seal, taking care of my Alpha... she's so dedicated. It must be so hard on her."

"Every penny you save the Alpha now will be your own to spend when you finally take my place. Then you won't have to live as a pauper, like me."

After replying, I tossed my phone aside.

And began to calmly pack my things.

My phone vibrated violently on the table. It was a voice message from Logan.

Since he couldn't reach me through the bond because my wolf was gone, he resorted to blowing up my phone.

When I hit play, his voice sounded laced with panic, "Sienna! What nonsense are you spouting? Was your account hacked?"

"Baby, stop messing around. Delete it, and let's talk properly..."

I powered off the phone, throwing it onto the couch.

The world was finally quiet.

Packing didn't take long.

After all, every valuable item belonging to the Luna in this mansion was locked securely away in a study with a high-grade password.

For all these years, I had been like an unwanted tenant in a house that was never truly mine.

Even my scent was just a faint layer left behind.

Only now did I finally see things clearly.

We stood in silence for a moment, with no further goodbyes.Just like that, I pulled my hand free and turned to leave. The shelter quickly accepted the donations. The director was sincerely grateful, asking no questions about their origin or my motive. The property transfer was also completed quickly.I had no interest in finding out who received these things.I knew very well that the Sienna of today had made a complete break with the past.In the years that followed, I threw myself into my biological research, determined to make up for lost time.I published a paper on Rogue gene repair that sent shockwaves through the werewolf academic community. Before I knew it, I had become a mentor myself, able to supervise doctoral students.Professor Miles tapped my desk, his expression stern but fond. "Choose your students well.""I'm too old to manage my grand-students on top of managing you."We both laughed.Just then, an urgent call from the pack hospital interrupted us.They said Logan h

Logan gave me a massive settlement.A fortune large enough to buy half the pack's territory, plus the luxurious villa that had witnessed our three-year mate bond.I went back once. Nothing in the villa had been moved. In the walk-in closet, the couture gowns and jewelry I once had no right to touch, which I had to beg for like a beggar, now lay there quietly. The password to the safe had been changed to my birthday.I spent two days donating all of it, the dresses, the jewelry, and even the house, to a shelter for Rogues and abandoned Omegas. My phone vibrated. It was a text message."Sienna, why did you sell all those things?""Was it not enough money? I can give you more."I blocked the number immediately. As dusk fell, the doorbell suddenly rang.Logan's Beta was at the door.He was holding the deed to a piece of pack territory. He stammered slightly, "The Alpha said the assets in the rejection agreement were insufficient. He sent me to give you this deed as additional compensation.

It wasn't that I hadn't argued with Logan about it back then. But no matter how much I protested, all I ever got was his dismissive reply:"Sienna, can't you stop being so petty? It's just a little spring water.""You're the Luna, and she's a hero who has given her all for the pack. What's wrong with me rewarding her?""Look at you now. If the elders knew you lacked even this much magnanimity, how would that reflect on you?"Under his constant "it's for your own good" gaslighting, I swallowed all my weakness and grievances, forcing myself to obey.Thinking about it used to fill me with a sense of injustice. Now, remembering it, I found it almost laughable. To think I had once been so meek. For a moment, Logan froze, a look of panic and confusion on his face."I'm sorry... I misremembered. Sienna, what do you like, then?""Just tell me. I'll pluck the stars from the sky for you if you want."I checked the equipment I would need for the day and said coldly, "There's no need."But Logan w

He still didn't get it. He had no idea why I was so disappointed in him.He truly believed that as long as the prize he offered was big enough, I was supposed to accept it gratefully."That's enough, Logan," I cut him off."We're over. I don't need anything. The only gift I want when I return from this expedition is the rejection papers, signed by you."In an instant, his face was a mask of bewildered pain.He couldn't understand why, after he had humbled himself so much, even punishing his most capable pack member for my sake, I remained so cold-hearted."Sienna, I never thought about severing our bond. You are my Mate, a gift from the Moon Goddess.""What will it take for you to forgive me?"Communicating with this self-righteous Alpha was exhausting. My patience finally ran out, and my voice turned sharp."Logan, you're always so arrogant.""Whoever catches your eye is expected to be eternally grateful, and whoever you grow tired of is supposed to just quietly disappear.""You thoug

"Why didn't anyone tell me?"Logan's voice shook with disbelief as it trembled through the mind-link.The healer's voice was thick with fear, his words barely a whisper."Alpha, I tried to contact you then, but you cut the link, leaving only one sentence.""'Don't bother me with some Omega's trivial problem. I'm celebrating with Chloe.'"In that instant, an image of that night flashed through Logan's mind. The pack had just secured a major project. He was popping champagne in the penthouse ballroom, Chloe in a red gown on his arm, the entire pack cheering. To avoid having his mood ruined, he had blocked her messages and all the red alerts from the medical center. He had even ordered her mind-link to be severed to appease Chloe, who had been "upset" by her outburst.A wave of dizziness washed over him, and a dull ache throbbed in his head. Why had the normally docile Sienna suddenly caused a scene at the council hall? She had said something about Chloe deliberately blocking the approval

I turned around to see Chloe, decked out in designer outdoor gear but teetering on a pair of ridiculously inappropriate high-heeled hiking boots. She pinched her nose, her eyes sweeping over me and my colleagues with disgust."The Alpha told me you'd run off. I was wondering where you'd disappeared to. Turns out you're back to slumming it with these filthy, lowly Omegas."With Logan not around, she quickly dropped her pretense. The sliver of respect she once showed me was now completely gone.My face hardened. We had just returned from the swamp and were covered in mud, but this mud felt nobler than her perfumed vulgarity."What rock did you crawl out from under, Chloe? You reek of something rotten."Chloe's face flushed red. Just as she was about to lash out, a tall, imposing figure stepped out of the SUV behind her."What's going on?"Hearing that familiar voice, Chloe's eyes immediately welled up. Her body went limp as she leaned against the man, her voice was so pitiful, thick with
