Chapter 1

Penulis: Snail
When Mom found me through our mind-link, I was curled up on the ground. My nails had gouged out deep scratches in the floor.

Dad was criticizing Mom. "Is this how you raise our pup? She has no table manners at all! She threw up her food onto the table right in front of the host! That was disgraceful.

"I just reprimanded her slightly, and she immediately started pretending to be sick. You spoiled her. I must teach her a lesson—"

Mom snapped. She slapped Dad before scooping me into her arms and sprinting toward the Healing Hut.

I hovered in midair as I followed her closely.

Tears streamed down her face. She had once laughed and said that I had grown too big for her to carry. But now, she ran so swiftly that she didn't even seem to feel my weight.

I suddenly disliked Dad. In fact, I kind of hated him.

Why did he have to treat us this way?

His heart used to ache for me, even if I had only tripped while walking. Now, I had died right in front of him, and he still didn't even look at me.

Yes. I had died.

So, this was what death felt like. When the old lady next door passed away last year, did she drift along in the air like this too?

However, I hadn't seen her at the time. Did that mean that Mom and Dad couldn't see me now, either?

The thought made me a little upset, and I looked down at Mom.

She was carrying me, and her face was pale from crying. The healer in the Healing Hut didn't even take me from her arms. He just sighed and shook his head at Mom.

Mom hadn't slept in two days. She had done everything on her own. My body was placed in a wooden crate and buried beneath the largest tree in the forest.

Mom sat against the tree trunk, staring dazedly at the patch of earth where I had been buried. She only went home when it got dark.

Her eyes were swollen from crying as she lay on the bed. She lay there without moving an inch, like my body that had been sealed inside that wooden crate.

I hovered beside her and tried to pat her back, the way she had always put me to sleep. However, my hand went right through her body.

I screamed in fright, but Mom didn't react at all.

I tried to take the stuffed toy on the bed and the glass of water on the nightstand. However, I couldn't touch either of them.

There was no helping it. So, I lay back down meekly beside Mom. It was good to just silently keep her company as well.

Wasn't Mom hungry, though? She kept lying there. She hadn't even had a sip of water.

I began to miss the nutritious meals that Mom had made for me. She would always make the food I liked to eat and make sure I was full.

Dad used to like her cooking too. He once said that Mom was the best cook among the werewolves in the Moonflash pack.

However, after that, he said that the raw meat spreads that Judy made were 100 times better than Mom's home-cooked meals.

I didn't like raw meat, and I was allergic to it. The dishes that Mom made were my favorite.

But now I was dead. Did that mean I would never get to eat her cooking ever again?

I counted on my fingers to see how much time had passed. When the third day came, Mom finally got out of bed.

She picked up her phone. The chat window between her and Dad was filled with the messages that she had sent to him three days ago. He hadn't replied to any of them.

I was dead, and Mom had been grieving alone for days. However, Dad hadn't even called her.

Were the fathers of other pups like this too?

But Dad hadn't been like that. He and Mom had always had endless topics to talk about, and no matter how late it was, he would always come home. He used to call her every single day.

He would even take me hunting and to the theme park for fun.

However, after meeting Judy, Dad called less and less often. Mom once brought me to see him, but he scolded her. "Don't you have anything of your own to do? Can't you be independent and strong like Judy? Don't keep coming to see me! Judy's right, women with pups are so fussy…"

After that day, Mom never tried to visit Dad again.

  • When Silence Speaks of Regret   Chapter 10

I drifted in the air, feeling bored. After I had finished watching all the drama involving Dad, I started missing Mom.Where was she now? Before I could miss her for too long, I saw her. She had come to prison to visit Dad. He was very happy to see her. "Sandy, I knew that you were the one who loved me most. Wait for me to get out of here. I swear that I'll treat you well!"Mom didn't answer. She merely pushed a bottle of water in front of him."Drink it," she said blandly.Dad downed the entire bottle excitedly and looked at Mom. "I'll get out of here soon. Let's build a good life together. I want to have many pups with you—"Mom shot to her feet, cutting him off. "There is no future. I came here to terminate my mate bond with you. From now on, we no longer have anything to do with each other!"She paused and looked at him with pure disgust. "Stop mentioning our pup! You don't deserve to!"Dad turned pale instantly. "Did you just make me drink a termination potion?"He su

Dad stared at the information and shook with anger. "That bitch!" he growled. "How dare she trick me? I'll make her wish she were dead!"He stormed out to find Judy. I drifted along behind him, just as furious. If she wanted Dad so badly, we would've given him to her. After all, Mom and I didn't want him anymore. Why did she have to kill me?Didn't she know that Mom would be very sad because of my death? Judy was a terrible person!I shook my tiny fists around, and for the very first time, I approved of Dad going to see Judy. However, as soon as Dad got to her home, he saw her in the arms of an unfamiliar older man. They were very intimate with each other.Judy was startled upon noticing Dad, and she pushed the man away from her in a panic. "Grayson, what are you doing here? Don't misunderstand, I just fell—"Dad's eyes turned bloodshot as he slapped Judy. "You slut! You're just a horny bitch who sleeps around! It's your fault that my family's fallen apart. I won't forgive you!

In the end, Dad didn't spend Tom's birthday with him. He went back to our home instead, which was now empty. At some point, Mom had moved everything that belonged to me and her away. Dad rummaged through the things in a frenzy and made a complete mess. He trembled as he called Mom, but although he made several calls, they all went unanswered."Sandy, don't you want me anymore?"Dad sobbed like a pup. He looked so ugly that I turned my head away. I didn't want to look at him. I hadn't cried like that in a long time. Dad was clearly more immature than I was.He kept crying until he collapsed. He just happened to fall on the smashed porcelain doll. The forgotten pile of broken pieces was the only thing left in the empty room. Dad carefully picked up all the pieces and held them tightly to his chest. The sharp edges dug into his flesh, but he didn't seem to feel the pain."This is the first gift Ray gave me when she was four years old," he murmured to himself. There was a flash

Judy was still wearing that pure, white dress. When she saw Dad, she smiled gently. "Grayson, please don't be angry at Sandy and Ray. The doctor said that my injury isn't serious. I just can't carry heavy things for now, and I have to change the dressings regularly. You understand, right? Injuries from silver vessels are more serious—""Did you touch my phone?"I hadn't expected Dad to say that. Instead of showing concern for Judy like he had in the past, he had cut her off and accused her instead.Judy was clearly frightened by how serious Dad was. She forced herself to smile and explained. "Yes, but only because you were resting. I just wanted you to have a good sleep, and I didn't want anyone unimportant to disturb you—""Those so-called unimportant people you speak of are my mate and pup!" Dad roared. There was a grief in his eyes that I had never seen before. "Ray's dead! She ate your raw meat and died of an allergic reaction! You killed her!"Judy was shocked and hastily

Dad dressed well every day. He would wear the clothes that Mom ironed for him and put on the shoes that she polished until they shone. He would then accuse Mom of not looking presentable. But Mom was so busy all the time. She took care of me meticulously and had to clean the rooms to make them neat and tidy. She had no time to dress herself up.Even so, Dad said, "Look at Judy. She raises her pup on her own and still manages to look beautiful every single day. Why don't you learn from her?"However, Dad never noticed that Judy's pup, who was two years older than me, was even thinner and smaller. His clothes never fit him well, unlike mine. Every dress I owned was clean and pretty. Why couldn't Dad ever admit how capable Mom was?Mom stood up warily and turned an ice-cold gaze on Dad. Dad was as pale as a sheet, and he swayed on his feet. When he saw my photo on the gravestone, he looked crushed. He shook his head desperately, and there was an accusing look in his eyes when he

Mom pulled out my death certificate, which she carried around with her at all times. Tears slid silently down her cheeks once more. The Silverlune Guards took the death certificate and exchanged looks, unable to say a word.I had been dead for six days. Not only had Dad been unaware of this, but he had even helped an outsider to wrongly accuse his own pup. It was so ridiculous that even the guards, who had seen all kinds of things in the past, were rendered speechless.Dad suddenly went crazy. He rushed forward and snatched the death certificate away. He tore it into pieces and pointed at Mom."Sandy, you've crossed the line!" he yelled. "You found someone to forge a death certificate! You're claiming that Ray died just to protect her! You call yourself a mother?"Mom screamed as she tried to snatch up the pieces on the floor. The guards hadn't expected Dad to do such a thing. They were stunned for a long time before they hastily restrained Dad in a flurry.Mom walked right u
