Chapter 2

Serena's employees slowly joined the group video call and began chattering away.

"What's wrong, Ms. Porter? Why did someone send a screenshot of Felix's post in the group chat?"

"Is your insecure husband's jealousy acting up again?"

"Ms. Porter really has it rough. That husband of hers is really something else. He thinks he's all that just because he's got a bit of money. He spends all day checking other people's social media accounts."

I let out a disdainful scoff. As expected, Serena's employees in her self-established company were good-for-nothings just like her.

Serena suppressed the tears in her voice and asked, "Leon is insisting that I'm cheating on him because I gave Felix some condoms as a present. He froze my credit card and even sent a screenshot of Felix's post to my family group chat.

"I would like to ask everyone a question. Do you think that I'm that kind of person? Didn't I give Christmas presents to everyone in the company?"

She angrily hurled her phone on my desk after she was done speaking.

Chaos erupted in the group video call. Her employees became agitated upon hearing her words.

"Why is your husband being such a wet blanket? You're just joking around with Felix."

"Everyone in the company received a Christmas present from Ms. Porter. It's not like she only bought one for Felix. You're a grown man. Are you really going to get jealous over something like this?"

"He's sick in the head. He even threatened her by freezing her credit card over something so insignificant. I feel so sorry for Ms. Porter for being stuck with a husband like him."

Felix, who had been standing by the door the entire time, sauntered in as Serena's employees continued to criticize me.

"I'm sorry, Leon. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have uploaded that post. I only did so because my friends egged me on. I've already scolded them. We're still young and immature, so I hope that you won't take this incident to heart.

"I'll delete the post right now. I don't want to cause a rift between you and Serena."

It was a little bizarre how everyone was saying the same thing. It was almost as if everything was just a misunderstanding.

Serena wiped her tears. She stood before me with bloodshot eyes and asked, "Do you understand now, Leon? I'm not the person who you think I am. Stop causing a fuss. Hurry and unfreeze the bank card. Many of my company's payments are on that card's tab."

She stepped forward and tried to snatch my phone out of my hand again.

I knocked her hand aside without any hesitation.

"Do you think that I'm deaf, Serena? The sound of the squeaking bed that I heard when I called you earlier is practically seared into my brain now. Only you can lie through your teeth without so much as batting an eye."

"Leon! You!'

Serena glared at me with wide eyes. She looked like she had more to say when she was interrupted by the sounds of a commotion coming from outside.

A man darted past the villa's security guards and rushed into the garden. He bent down and picked up a stone before hurling it at the window.

"Show yourself, Leon! You spineless bastard! How dare you slander my sister!"

The glass shattered on impact, sending broken shards scattering all across the living room.

Beyond furious, I shoved Serena and Felix aside, pushing the door open to check out what was going on.

The bodyguards had restrained Serena's brother, Scott Porter, and pinned him to the ground. However, that didn't stop him from cursing me out.

"You're such a control freak! Why do you care about a gag gift? You should get your brain checked out if you have some loose screws in there. How dare you go online and accuse Serena of cheating on you!"

Serena's parents, who had been denied entry to the garden by the security guards, fell to their knees with a loud thud and began crying loudly.
