MAYA’S POV

“You absorb pain differently,” Beta Kierra said to me.

“What else have you noticed about me?”

“You adapt faster than other Omegas,” she responded.

My hands remained on my knees, I was short of breath and sweating hard, I was trying to catch my breath. I was lucky that Beta Kierra was also on the training ground this noon, she had been training some maidens.

She watched me with one eye while I was training, and it kind of pushed me to do more. I wanted her to see that I ha

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER THIRTY

RASMUS’S POV Maya must have been wondering why she was right here in front of me. Her head wasn’t bowed this time; it seemed she was getting used to looking straight into my eyes while being around me. My men brought her here, she must have figured that out already. All along, she wasn’t alone like she thought. My men were around her from the moment she stepped out of the mansion till she got back. It was late already, and I had somewhere to be very early the next day, so I would make this as brief as possible. She also needed to head to her room to take a shower and retire to bed. “Someone wants you dead,” I said after clearing my throat. Her eyes widened after I said those words to her. She adjusted herself on the sofa and gulped loudly. I took a glance at the wall clock in the living room, and I realized it was a new day already. “This has nothing to do with the head of security’s death. I know you didn’t poison him and I know who could have poisoned him,” I informed

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER TWENTY NINE

MAYA’S POV The only thing I could think of doing was take to my heels. I was headed towards the woods, even though I wasn’t certain it was the right place to be headed. My breathing pace had doubled, I couldn’t help it. At intervals, I looked at my back, but I still couldn’t see anyone. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being followed off. I wasn’t overthinking things, I was very certain about it. Being under the moonlight made my senses heightened. A particular scent did fill up my nostrils, but I didn’t know who it belonged to. I could perceive a werewolf’s scent but I couldn’t see anyone. “Ouu,” I cried out. I tripped and fell to the ground. I sustained an injury on my leg, and was bleeding. This wasn’t the best time for an unfortunate incident as this, how was I supposed to get up on my feet and keep moving when I was bleeding. Asides the fact that I was bleeding, my legs hurt. I closed my eyes while I groaned. The scent kept getting stronger, and it only

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

MAYA’S POV “You can no longer walk around like you used to,” Lycan Rasmus stated. That seemed to be my punishment for the allegation that was leveled against me. I didn’t expect him to just allow it to slide like that. I remained standing in front of him while my hands were behind my back. Earlier today, I noticed that guards had been appearing everywhere I walked to, and that was quite unusual. It felt like I was being watched. They must have been ordered to keep an eye on me. To everyone, I was a killer, so I shouldn’t be on the loose. I kept my head bowed because I could tell Lycan Rasmus still had more to say. In the longest time, I hadn’t had to bow to him like this. “Get Beta Kierra here,” he ordered one of his guards. He had one on his left side and two on his right side. I couldn’t comprehend why guards had to stand next to him when he was in the penthouse in his house. Could it be that he was scared anyone could just attack him here in his mansion? I didn’t see

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN

MAYA’S POV “I know nothing about this, I swear on Alpha Damien’s life!” “Can you please stop with the act? Everyone knows you hate him enough to swear on his life,” Kira responded to me. I didn’t expect her to. Earlier, I couldn’t think of anything else to do other than swear on Alpha Damien’s life. How else could I prove my innocence to everyone present in the compound? Lycan Rasmus included. “How did the poison got to your room?” Kira asked me. What the hell was she doing? Up until a minute ago, I thought Kira was my friend and that she would always have my back. I understood that the situation wasn’t looking good at the moment, but she was supposed to trust me. Lycan Rasmus hadn’t said a word. Instead, he kept staring at me. I couldn’t say if he believed that I would never do such a thing. Why would I ever want to kill the head of security by poisoning him? “I stepped out of my room and then I…” “Save yourself the explanation,” Kira interrupted. She wouldn’t even

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

MAYA’S POV “You know you don’t have to keep avoiding me, right?” I said to Kira just as she was about to step out of the mansion. My words must have been the reason she paused. Her back view was all I could see, perhaps this was the part where she would turn around so our eyes could meet. I remained on the bottom stairs with my arms folded. We both knew why she had been avoiding me for days now, but I chose not to talk about it until then. Then seemed to be the perfect time to speak to her about it, even though it was a hot afternoon. “You must really hate me,” she cooed after she turned around. It took her forever. “I don’t hate you. It’s not your fault that things didn’t go as planned,” I was quick to reply to her. I could see how sorry she was just by looking into her eyes. My presence in the archive was her suggestion, and because things went south, she had been feeling guilty. The best thing she could think of doing was avoiding me. According to the words she spoke

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

RASMUS’S POV “We have to head back to the mansion,” I announced. “Is there a problem?” Kira asked. “Something feels off.” “Do you know what the feeling might be about?” she questioned. “I’m not sure I do.” “One weird thing about you is your extra heightened senses. You can sense even the littlest things, things that don’t even matter,” she muttered. She must have said that because we were headed somewhere, and I had just made the driver turn and head back to the mansion. Actually, she didn’t tell a lie, my senses could be extra sometimes. Vividly, I could recall the day she snuck into my room while I was in the living room and I immediately sensed it, then I headed for my room instantly. She ought to still remember that day. “Stop the car,” she ordered the driver. “Why?” “I have to be present at the occasion, I can’t miss it,” she replied to me. Her presence there wasn’t so important and I didn’t think she knew. I was invited and I decided to go with her, it

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

MAYA’S POV “Mate,” my wolf howled. “Second chance mate,” I found myself muttering. I wasn’t wrong, it had become more glaring. Lycan Rasmus was my second chance mate. I didn’t see the signs all this while because I didn’t have a wolf that could have told me about it. If he hadn’t brought

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

MAYA’S POV “If I never return, I need you to tell my story,” I said to Helen. I didn’t want to be forgotten just like that. If she managed to write my story, perhaps history wouldn’t forget me. What I asked of her might be me asking for too much, I was fully aware. She didn’t give me a resp

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER SIXTEEN

MAYA’S POV I knew that I would pay for Lycan Rasmus’s words to Miss Kira, it would only be a matter of time. Her hostility towards me was justified, it was a result of the pack’s hierarchy. “You had no right to chase her out of the room I put her in.” Those were the words Lycan Rasmus said

  • When the moon binds us   CHAPTER FIFTEEN

RASMUS’S POV It felt good to be back home. If it was not so important, I would not have left the pack four days ago only to return now. No one in the mansion missed me, I knew that without being told. “Be careful with those boxes,” I instructed the guards standing close to the car’s trunk. So
