Chapter 20: The talk

Jameson had just taken his first sip of his coffee when his wife, Betty, came in. He watched her and noticed she was avoiding looking in him the eye, something that she only did whenever she had done something he wouldn't like. Knowing what was coming, he fortified his mind to be prepared for whatever shocking thing she would say to him that might offend him. She took the pot of coffee he had made and poured some intoghe dainty tea cup she preferred, putting no sugar but drowning the coffee in milk. He shook his head gently at her longstanding absurdity while a smile played at the corner of his lips. Since he was resting on a side of the counter, she took the opposite side directly in front of him. Jameson banished worry from his mind when he saw she didn't speak, instead she had her eyes glued to the cup of coffee she was holding.
