Chapter Fifty

Familiar Noises

Thalia

She was in some cave, a massive circular space with tunnels all around, at least 6. Someone is there. She can hear them faintly whisper. She can see the light of the fire reflecting off the wet stone, but every time she turns her head to look the flames and the form have moved, just shadow against the light.

“Red is the rose which petals wilt,

Red are these hands,

Red the life blood,

Blood of body,

Blood of family,

Blood these roots like bones digging deep.”

The voice sounded familiar, but not at the same time, maybe once beautiful but it was now a sickly tone, a hissing whisper as if the words to bold to take real sound.

Then she woke up. She gasped in breaths as reality settled on her, the cool morning air sneaking in the window. Koin was getting dressed by the closet and he smiled seeing her "Good morning." He came over slowly to kiss her head, but at the last moment she tilted her chin up and let his lips meet hers instead of her temple.

He chuckled
