Chapter 5

"So what do you like? The line's getting longer." The lady continued. I take a look back at the line and she's correct.

"Oh, sorry. A slice of banana and garlic bread, and some pasta." She looked at my body, examining from top to bottom.

I know, I know, where do I put all these foods? I don't have any idea, I just love to eat, I guess my body won't accept any nutrients anymore.

She puts everything on the tray and gave it to me. I walked towards the vacant table on the corner side of the room, near the back door of the cafeteria.

I sat down, and this spot was very relaxing. I am now facing the garden of the school. Green grass, tall trees, blooming flowers, and flying butterflies all over the place. There is also a water fountain at the middle, but it is not working as of now.

I was eating my meal when I saw Lucas walking together with his friends in the garden. They were pinching each other's ears, like those kids that you would see in the streets.

I averted my gaze, what he told me earlier really freaked me out.

The back door opened and saw them entering the cafeteria.

Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.

"Lucas, where are you going?" A male voice called him out.

"Just a sec, bro." I heard him say, then, in just one second he was already sitting beside me, leaning on the table. I am still looking down at my food.

"So... you are?" I looked at him, confusion was all over my face.

"I'm the new student." I said to him shortly. I saw him smirked.

"No, you were the one who took that last copy of the book I hid in the fiction section." I looked at him, and saw that he's serious and not making fun of me.

"Was it my fault that I found it and decided to buy this book?" I took out the book inside my bag, the one that he was talking about.

He's now laughing sarcastically. What's the problem of this guy?

"You know what. You can have it." I said to him, then stood up and fixed my bag. Suddenly he held my wrist.

Before saying anything, he looked at his friends, and I saw them that they were laughing secretly. What's their deal?

"You like me, don't you?" He looked up at me, smiling like he was really flirting with me.

I wasn't expecting that question from him.

I wanted to slap him in the face, to somehow wake him up from this nonsense thought.

"The hell, I don't." Though I know that he's a lot much stronger than I am, I took all my strength and pulled back my wrist from him. Bastard.

"I saw how you looked at me when we crossed in the street, our little conversation in the field, and that caught in the act looking at me earlier."

What did I just hear?

I lowered my self, so we were on the same level.

"You wish."

I left him there, causing people to stare at us, again. How dare he talk to me like that? I know that my personality was not that strong, but I could fight for it if it's too much.

_______________

It's now my last subject for today: Piano Skills I and we're now here in the studio #5, the designated room for this course.

I actually know how to play a piano, because my dad taught me how, then I became addictive to it. Playing this instrument has turned as one of my outlet whenever I am feeling sad.

"Does anybody here know the artist named Yiruma?" Of course! He's the man of my life, I had a crush on him ever since I listened to his greatest hit entitled: A River Flows in You.

"You." I turned around to see if she's pertaining to me or to my other classmates. "Yes, you."

"Me?" I said in a low voice.

"Yes. I saw how your eyes sparkled when I mentioned the name." She smiled at me and encouraged me to stand up.

"Well... I like his music. He's a British-Korean pianist." Ms. Shannon nodded her head.

"Very good. You may sit down." I sat down, feeling a little proud to myself. "As I was saying, Yiruma became the first Korean artist ever to be invited to perform at the MIDEM festival in France year 2002."

Yep. I knew that. I stalked him whenever time permits... since the hospital became my house, then, I must say that I stalked him every time.

Ms. Shannon explained to us the greatest hit of Yiruma.

"Ms. Summers, can you at least play a song of Yiruma. Just a short one."

Oh boy, not in front of everyone.

"Uhm... Uhm." What the hell's wrong with me.

"Any problem, Alayna?" She approached me, then caress my back. I am having a hard time to breathe. Oh please, not now. I breathed deeply, and thankful that my normal breathing came back.

I tried really hard to calm myself down, thank god, I did.

"Yes, Ms." I stood up and approached the black grand piano. My heart was still not calm at all, it was thumping loudly again.

I sat down on the small chair, my hands were trembling. I closed my eyes for a moment, then I started playing the chorus part of Kiss In The Rain.

While playing, I was surprised that I can still remember the notes.

Everyone clapped their hands when I finished playing that song, I quickly walked back to my sit and covered my whole face.

After the class, everyone was smiling at me. This is not a good idea, I did not mean to steal any attention or be the center of focus.

When I left the room, I saw Lucas's leaning on the other side of the wall and fixing this rubrics cube.

He saw me, and immediately went to me.

"Hey... you were really good playing that song." He said to me, his expression seems so pure and real. A much different Lucas than what he showed in the cafeteria. But still, It won't make us in good terms.

I was about to leave when he took over and blocked my way.

"Hey, Alayna, can I explain everything to you?" I just stared at him cold heartedly. What does he want from me?

"How did you know my name?" I said to him.

"To your classmate, named Stacey." I shook my head. I have so many questions in my mind, but I'd rather keep it all in my head. This conversation will lead to no good.

"Can I explain everything to you? I know-" I cut him off.

"No. Don't need it anyways."

I walked out and felt tightness in my chest, again.
