Chapter 4- Training

Then the real training began.

The island had become my training camp.

At first, I thought it was a joke.

Until, before daybreak on the very first morning, the old man knocked on my door.

“Your training begins now,” he said.

“And remember, this is the last time I’ll come to wake you up. From tomorrow onward, you must be outside before I arrive.”

Before I could even process what was happening—or wonder how he knew exactly where I was staying—he grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the house.

Half-asleep and still struggling to keep my eyes open, I found myself jogging across the island’s highlands.

For three hours.

By dawn, my legs felt like they were about to fall off.

Without giving me a chance to rest, Zeno led me to an old warehouse and pushed open its creaking doors.

I expected cobwebs and dust.

Instead…

I found order.

Thick ropes hung from the rafters. Wooden dummies, scarred by countless blows, stood in neat rows. Rusted chains dangled from iron beams, while heavy sandbags, sewn from old fishing nets, swayed gently in the breeze.

In one corner lay crude weights fashioned from boat anchors, iron pipes, and concrete.

“What is this place?” I whispered.

The old man looked around, pride flickering across his weathered face.

“The Forge.”

“Why do you call it that?” I asked.

“Because this is where weak people are broken…”

“…and stronger ones are forged.”

He paused before adding,

“Fire doesn’t destroy steel. It reveals what it can become.”

Before I even knew what was happening, he pointed toward one of the sandbags.

“Punch it.”

I did exactly as he instructed.

The moment my fist connected with the bag, a sharp pain shot through my hand.

I immediately grabbed my aching fist.

What on earth was inside that thing?

But Zeno merely shook his head.

“If that’s your strongest punch, I’d rather fight a seagull.”

Before I could even complain…

Bam!

A punch landed squarely in my stomach, sending me rolling across the floor.

I gasped for air.

I briefly considered throwing myself back into the sea. It suddenly seemed like the easier option.

“If you want to survive,” he said calmly, “you can’t afford to be weak.”

He looked down at me.

“Get up.”

“We’ll deal with that fragile fist of yours another day.”

He pointed toward a thick wooden log carved into the shape of a barbell.

It wasn’t the kind of equipment you’d find in a modern gym, but it served the same purpose—and it looked even heavier.

“Carry it.”

I stared at him.

“Fifty times.”

By the fiftieth lift, I thought the day’s torture was finally over.

I was wrong.

Zeno had other plans.

“Come,” he said, wiping the sweat from his brow. “You’ve barely eaten today. I made grilled fish and roasted yam.”

For the first time that day…

I smiled.

After lunch, I washed the dishes and turned to leave.

“Who told you you were done?” Zeno asked.

I froze.

He reached into a cupboard and handed me a rusty but fully functional laptop.

I blinked.

Since arriving on the island, I hadn’t seen a single source of electricity.

My face must have revealed every question racing through my mind because Zeno simply pointed upward.

A lone solar panel rested on the roof, quietly absorbing the morning sunlight.

I stared at it in disbelief.

“There is still a lot about me you don’t know,” he said.

“Enough questions.”

“Tell me… do you have any hacking skills?”

Then he glanced at me.

“And while we’re at it, we also need to work on your facial expressions.”

“You think too loudly.”

“Anyone can read your thoughts just by looking at your face.”

I scratched the back of my neck.

“I know how to use a laptop very well.”

He sighed.

“I’m not asking whether you can use a computer.”

“I’m asking whether you can hack into a company’s database…”

“…or shut down a country’s power grid.”

“What?!”

My mouth fell open before I could stop it.

Zeno sighed again.

“Exactly.”

“We’ll definitely be working on those facial expressions.”

Stella’s P.O.V.Professor Gregory’s Office“Good morning, sir,” I said.“Good morning. Please, have your seat,” he replied.“Some rumours are flying around about you, and I would like to hear your version of the story because I don’t want to believe the rumours are true,” he said.“Sir, if it is about the pictures on the internet, some of them are partly true. I am the one who stepped out of the car. Someone offered me a ride, and I took it. I don’t expect things to escalate to this point,” I explained.“And who is this someone to you?” Prof. Gregory asked, looking straight into my soul.I went silent.Enzo, you are always good at stirring trouble. How was I supposed to explain who Enzo was?My brother. That would make sense. It was simple, believable, and probably the easiest answer. But was he truly my brother? No.And what if the school decided to dig deeper? What if they discovered that we weren’t related at all?I swallowed.Maybe I should just tell him he was Lux.No.Absolutely

Stella’s P.O.V.“Hop in,” Enzo said as I was about to book a ride to school.“Don’t worry,” I replied.“I’m actually heading to your school area, and this is the one time you’ve been refusing my rides every time. Hope it’s not because you’re being bullied in school,” he said.“Ha-ha-ha.” I chuckled. “You should know that, out of everything, that is the last thing that can happen.”Then he entered the car.“Whether you insist or not, I can just post on my Weibo page that my sis is studying Medicine in X University. It won’t take an hour before my fans fish you out.”“You would not dare,” I replied as I entered the backseat with him.“You know, normal siblings would gist about their school activities with each other, but, humph, it seems like you are made of steel. Don’t tell me you face patients with this kind of face.”…………………Third-Person P.O.V.Sabrina’s ApartmentBoth Sabrina and Celine were scrolling through their phones while Bianca helped them with their assignments.“Bianca, ma

Tiffany/Stella P.O.V.I was walking out of the medical laboratory when I noticed the small crowd gathered near the staircase. At first, I didn’t pay much attention.Students gathered everywhere on campus. Some were discussing lectures, others were comparing notes, and a few were probably already complaining about the next test. But then I heard a girl’s voice.“Say it again.”I slowed down. The voice belonged to Celine. She was standing in front of another girl who looked completely different from her. While Celine was dressed in an expensive-looking outfit with perfectly styled hair, the other girl wore a simple blouse and a faded skirt. She had a backpack clutched tightly against her chest.“I—I didn’t mean anything,” the girl whispered.Celine folded her arms.“Then why did you say it?”“I was only answering the question.”A few people around them laughed.I stopped walking. The girl looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her.“Do you think because you’re the professor’s favo

Tiffany / Stella P.O.V.And just like that, House of Eal was born. Due to Enzo’s influence, it didn’t take long before it became a place where celebrities and dignitaries came for anything fashion-related. We dealt not only in clothes but also in jewelry, shoes, and all kinds of fashion accessories. But the owner of the fashion house remained unknown. In no time, I was also able to get my own apartment, although I still loved staying at Enzo’s place most of the time.…………………The moment I stepped through the university gates, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a very long time.Nervousness.It was strange. I had been a university student before. I knew what lecture halls looked like, how crowded corridors could get, and the familiar sight of students rushing around with bags hanging from their shoulders. But this time felt different.Maybe because I hadn’t been in a classroom for so long. The campus was already alive. Students moved in every direction, some hurrying toward their lecture

Chapter 21Tiffany’s POV“Hell no! Why would you say that?” Enzo replied.“So, what happened? I hope it’s not something serious,” I asked.“It’s not that deep. Calm down. The good news is that you now have an identity,” he said, while handing me an identity card with her name oh, I mean, my new name on it. “Stella Teal. The former owner is dead, and she has no relatives. She grew up in an orphanage, so you don’t have anything to worry about,” he said.“So, about the bad news?”“You will not be able to resume medical school this year. I even tried to lobby around, but I think it would be better for you to go through the normal process, sit for the entrance exams, and voilà, you’ll get in. Don’t worry whether your results are good or bad,” he said.“So that’s what you call bad news?” I asked him.“Isn’t it?” he replied.“For future purposes, it is not. Actually, a year’s interval is pretty good for me. I’ll be able to settle down very well before resuming. And thank you. I’ll surely re

Tiffany’s POV“I helped you get some stuff,” Enzo said while placing a paper bag on the table. He continued, “This is a mobile phone. You know how to use it, right?”“Whattttt? For your information, I was once a young, wealthy, and dignified lady.”“Oops, I forgot. I thought you were a lost stray?”“You know what? I’m already stressed by that maniac today. I’m not ready for any more drama,” I said.“And this is a laptop,” he continued. “The old man said you learnt some hacking skills. You should be able to earn some cool cash with that for now.”“Yeah, the old man. Did you hear anything from him?”There was a brief silence before he said with a stern look, “I already contacted him last night and let him know that we’ve gotten back to Athens. He sent a signal. I think he’s fine.”“I hope he is,” I added.“Don’t worry about the old man. Old soldiers don’t die easily,” he said jokingly, returning to his usual self.“Let’s focus on you right now. So, what’s the plan? Do you want to contin
