POV: Amelia

I stayed in the steam room longer than I meant to. Maybe I’d earned it. Maybe I just didn’t want to go back out into the world where people knew my face and whispered my name like a scandal on repeat.

By the time I stepped outside the spa, the light had shifted to that sharp gold that only lasts fifteen minutes before disappearing into night. I wrapped my robe tighter, walking across the polished path toward the hotel’s private driveway, expecting to see the car waiting.

It wasn’t.

I paused at the curb. Looked left. Then right.

Nothing.

No familiar driver leaning on the hood, no black car idling with the engine low. Just the usual lineup of luxury vehicles and staff too busy to notice me standing there in nothing but wet hair, a hotel robe, and a pair of borrowed slides.

I pulled my phone from my pocket, frowning. Two missed calls from Jess, one from a Dubai number I didn’t recognize. No messages from the driver.

And that’s when I heard the first click.

A camera.

Then anoth

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 123: The Public Fallout

Amelia’s POV“Amelia—wait up!”Leo’s voice cut through the cool morning air just as I reached the clinic steps.I stopped, clutching my bag tighter, coffee steaming in my other hand. My body ached with exhaustion, but it wasn’t from lack of sleep—it was from replaying every second of last night on an endless loop. Ethan’s eyes. Sienna’s smirk. My hands in her hair, hers in mine. The papers scattered like bones across the marble.I turned slowly. Leo jogged the last few steps toward me, his dark hair rumpled, his coat half-buttoned. He looked like he hadn’t slept either.“I shouldn’t even be talking to you right now,” I said quietly. “If Ethan sees—”He shook his head, cutting me off. “Forget Ethan for a second. I came because… Amelia, it’s bad.”A cold coil twisted in my stomach. “Define bad.”He hesitated, searching my face like he was bracing me for impact. “Someone was there last night. A journalist. He recorded the fight in the lobby. It’s already online. And it’s spreading.”My b

Amelia’s POV"This shameless----" I started to say but Ethan touched me gently."You're better than that, Amelia."The floor might as well have cracked open beneath me. Ethan’s arm dropped, while Sienna waltzed forward as though she’d choreographed the timing.“What are you doing here, Sienna?” Ethan’s tone was sharp, a growl muffled by restraint.“Isn’t it obvious?” Her eyes slid to me, lingering on the space I’d just vacated, her lips curling as though she’d caught us mid-sin. “Some of us are more welcome than others.”My grip on the folder tightened until the edges cut into my palms. I wanted to laugh, but it would’ve come out jagged. “That’s funny. I don’t remember anyone asking you to be here.”“Oh, darling.” She purred the word like venom dipped in honey. “That’s because you’re always the last to know, aren’t you?”The chandelier’s shards of light struck her diamond earrings as she tilted her head, a performance crafted for maximum cruelty. And then she delivered it—the strike I

Amelia’s POVEthan’s voice was low, too measured, too calm—the kind of calm that wasn’t safety but danger dressed in silk.“Tell me right now, Amelia—why was he here?”The folder in my arms pressed hard against my ribs. It wasn’t weighty enough to protect me, but still, I clutched it like a shield. Paper and ink as armor. “I told you already. It’s about the clinic. Nothing else.”“Nothing else?” His brows rose, sharp with disbelief. “You expect me to believe Leo shows up at my building, at midnight, just to hand you a folder?”Each word fell with the precision of stone dropped into still water, ripples spreading, heavy, irreversible. My pulse darted beneath my skin. “You’re twisting this into something it’s not.”Ethan stepped closer. The marble wall cooled my spine as I instinctively backed away. Above us, the chandelier trembled faintly in the draft, crystal fragments scattering fractured light across his face. He wasn’t touching me—not yet—but his presence pressed in, a storm press

Amelia’s POVThe elevator doors slid shut, cutting off the city noise, but the silence inside was even louder. Ethan stood beside me, his shoulders squared, arms stiff at his sides. I didn’t need to look at him to feel the weight of his stare—it pressed against my skin like heat. The flowers felt heavier in my hands than they should. My grip tightened, thorns pricking my palm, a sting that almost felt grounding. Finally, his voice came. Low. Controlled. Dangerous.“Since when are you working with Leo?”I lifted my gaze slowly. His jaw was set hard, a muscle ticking there, and his eyes stayed on the metal doors like he couldn’t bear to look at me.“It’s not like that,” I said quickly. He turned his head then, pinning me with eyes that cut sharper than the thorns. “Not like what? Because from where I stood, it looked exactly like you two have some kind of arrangement.”A hot flush crept up my neck. “We’re not together, Ethan. He… offered help with the clinic. Apparently, he’s a doctor.

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 119 – Not the Right Moment

Ethan’s POVI had been pacing my office for twenty minutes, staring at the ridiculous bouquet sitting on my desk. Roses. The over-the-top, deep red kind people only bought when they were making a grand gesture—or trying to apologize without actually saying the words I’m sorry. The florist had suggested them. I’d almost said no. Flowers had never been my style. My style was more… signing a check or buying an expensive piece of jewelry. But this wasn’t about money. This was about Amelia.I wanted her back—not just in the same house, but back. And I wasn’t an idiot. I knew she was still furious about Sienna showing up yesterday. I also knew I hadn’t told her that Sienna had wormed her way into representing the company now, thanks to Veronica’s latest brilliant decision. That was… a conversation for another time. A much, much later time. Preferably when Amelia was laughing again and not looking like she was one move away from tossing my clothes out the window. So, flowers.I left the bui

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele    Chapter 118 – The Odds

Amelia’s POVThe elevator ride to the twelfth floor felt longer than the flight back from Dubai. I’d told myself a hundred times that morning to keep my chin up, to walk into the hospital like I hadn’t been gone for weeks, like there hadn’t been headlines and whispers and enough gossip to fuel an entire season of bad reality TV.I wasn’t going to let the stares get to me.The moment the elevator doors opened, the familiar scent of antiseptic and coffee hit me. The ward looked exactly the same—nurses hurrying between rooms, clipboards in hand, monitors beeping steadily.I’d missed this.“Dr. Steele.”I turned toward the voice. Dr. Marks, head of the department, stood in the hallway, his white coat crisp, a clipboard tucked under one arm. He looked exactly the way I remembered—sharp-eyed, efficient, the kind of man who could intimidate with just the tilt of his head.“It’s good to see you back,” he said, offering a rare smile. “Walk with me.”“So whatever happens to my name? Dr. Amelia?
