Walking back to the police station on wobbly legs the two blocks I had to walk to find the payphone in the first place i take a seat and wait for Tommy.
“You cant sleep her miss” a gruff voice yells down the stairs in my direction.“I’m not fucking sleeping I'm waiting for help and a ride home since you so called officers failed to do your jobs and help me or take me home as you should have” rude I know but I could care less at this point I came here to ask for help and they treated me like I was nothing and refused to help me as they should have.“If in an hour your still sitting there I will arrest you for loitering” the officer says as he walks away.I Ignoring the officer who takes his job way to seriously and turn back to watching the silent street for Tommy’s car. While I'm waiting I watch as a few people come and go some not walking back out. I watch as a few people are dragged into the station kicking and screaming and cussing at the arresting officers.I’ve been sitting on the cold chain link that’s covered in a hard green plastic for the last twenty minutes when a very handsome man comes walking up the steps heading to the entrance of the building only to come walking back out a short time later cursing the same fat, balding officer who told me he couldn’t help me."Long night" comes a husky voice from besides me the handsome man has taken a seat on the bench next to me."Yeah something like that" I answer back while keeping my focus on the streets in front of me being a little rude."Why are you out here all alone little one" the man asks and I so badly want to reply with none of your business but I hold my tongue."I'm waiting for my brother” was my short and to the point reply."If you don’t mind can I wait with you"“Um you don’t have to” o tell him still focused on the street I front of me that’s now scattered with a few cars “thank you though” I turn to look at the man then turn back to watching for Tommy.“Please I insist” I want to tell this very attractive man to leave me alone but I also don’t want to be alone “I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if something was to happen to you, especially since these assholes don’t know how to do their jobs” He firmly tells me while pointing behind him to the main entrance.Knowing he’s right I let out a small chuckle boding my head in a yes fashion, accepting his offer.“So what bring you to this place at the crack of dawn” I let my curiosity get the better of me and asked him."I came to check on the status of my little sisters missing person case" he says with a sad look on his handsome face and a spark in his eyes that I can’t decipher."Oh I'm so sorry” I tell him looking over at him again “I hope they find her" I feel guilty for asking knowing that he was only here sitting on this bench with me in the cold because they haven’t found her yet."Yeah me to” he sighs then stands up “Well I should get going or would you like me to stay with you a little longer""Um yeah” my answer coming out more as a question then a straight reply.“Yes please that would be nice I mean if you don't have anywhere else to be" I feel myself blush as I stumble over my own words. We sit and talk for a few more minutes while I waited for Tommy who seems to be taking his sweet time in getting here.In the time we sat talking on the cold bench I learned his name was Christopher but prefers to be called Chris, he's twenty-five years old, hates grapes and the Portland Timbers and his favorite color is yellow at which I laughed at.We were just starting just to get deeper into our conversation when a horn honking in the street pulls attention towards it.There on the sidewalk stands my brother waving his hands to get my attention then pointing to his invisible watch telling me to hurry up.“Well that’s my ride” I say standing “It was nice to meet you Chris” I say holding out my hand for him to shake.“Yeah it was nice to meet you too” he shakes my hand then lets it go and I start to walk away.“Hey Sasha hold up for a sec” Chris hollers after me, making me stop and turn around to see him quickly walking down the steps to the sidewalk where I'm now standing.“Uh is, is there anyway I could get your number” a smile tugs at my lips as I look up at the brightest green eyes I've ever seen.“Sure” I tell him taking his phone from his hand so I can type my number into it.I hand Chris back his phone then turn back around walking across the street to a now fuming Tommy who’s now late for work thanks to me.Once seated in the passenger seat I sent Chris a small wave and watch in the side mirror as he disappears from my view.“Who was that” Tommy asks as he mueves onto the freeway.“A friend” he hums and continues to drive as I watch out the window. It’s been a week since the incident outside of work and my boss Fred was kind enough to give me the week off to heal and rest. It’s also been a week sense I meet Chris and he hasn’t messaged or called me once to check on me or even just to talk. I’m laying in bed with the cover over my head ignoring the ringing of my alarm clock at the same time I’m trying to block out the light that shines through the sheer curtains I made the mistake of buying because I thought they were cute and fit the aesthetic of my small room. "Sasha Nichole get your ass up or your gonna be late for work" groaning into the pillow I pick my head up just enough to check the time. "Shit" it's 7:45 I have to be at the shop at 8:00 to open for Fred who asked me to open today because he had to take Monica his wife to the doctor. Fred and Monica have been married for forty years and moved to Portland in 1984 after their first son was born. Fred was friends with my dad who also happens to work at Fred’s place back
Christopher was not expecting me to come off as rude or cold as I did and I can tell by the look on his face he was quick to masks which changed his whole demeanor. After a few moments of standing on the busy sidewalk not saying a word to each other only a few blocks from the always loud and crowded Pioneer Squire I clear my throat and ask "How about we grab some lunch and start over" It’s the least I can do after being so rude to him when I should of just been mature about the whole name situation."Um sure why” Chris shrugs his shoulder then start to walk off in the opposite direction “But I pick the place" he send me a playful smile showing off his perfect white teeth and two dimples."Sure I can live with that" nudging his shoulder a bit with my own once I catch up to his wide strides we start the walk making small conversation as we go. We come to a stop outside of a restaurant I've passed a few times but never tried. Standing on the sidewalk looking in I’m not sure if now is th
For the rest of the week after we had lunch I busied myself with work and enrolling into community college to maybe start pre law classes in the spring. Another week passed with out a word from Chris as he had promised and I was done watching my phone waiting and hoping that the handsome, kind and funny man I had meet would call and set up a date like we had planed to. “Come on Sash please for me” Sofia has been asking me to go with her to this new club but it’s not really my kind of thing so I really don’t want to go. “Please, please, pretty pretty please just one night it will be fun” “Fine okay will you get back to work now” I laugh pushing Sofia away from the register and point to the shelf she had been dusting when she first asked me. Closing up the Shop for the night me and Sofia walk to the max and go our separate ways agreeing to meet up in two hours at my house since its closer to downtown. Walking through the front door I see a bouquet of beautiful red roses on the kitc
As I'm waiting for my Uber I hear a throat being cleared behind me, looking over my shoulder I see it's Christopher. "What do you want Chris just leave me alone" I roll my eyes looking back at the street taking a step closer to the curb sending him a hint to just leave and to get a better look down the street since its a one way and busy at this time of night."Sasha fuck I'm sorry okay” I hear him sigh behind me “I've had a few drinks and just fuck I'm sorry I didn't mean to act like a prick" I want to believe him because I've seen many sides of him in the two short encounters we've had and I know he’s right he has had a few drinks and I can hear it in his voice."Apology accepted now just leave me alone" I softly say loosing all my confidence while rubbing my arm were he had grabbed me. Chris’s eyes follow my movements and he takes a step closer with an out stretched hand as if he wanted to touch my arm but he drops his hand and puts them in his front pants pockets looking down at t
Chris P.O.VParking my truck a block away from the Downtown police station I put a dolor into the meter then walk tell I've reached the main entrance. Taking a deep breath already knowing how it’s going to go I walk up the front steps and through the steel and glass doors. This has been my routine for the last three and a half years after my little sister V went missing and the Detective stoped answering my calls.I’ve come down here once a week for the last three and a half years and not once have I been able to speck with the so called Detective that’s supposable been working the case, every time I come here I'm told that he’s not available or he’s not in or some bullshit excuse about he’s busy.“Fucking pigs I swear. What the fuck do these assholes do all day and night jerk off” I come out muttering and cursing the fat fuck I've come to know as officer Knott.Walking down the steps I see a small girl sitting on one of the benches. I take a seat next to her getting a look at her cute
Chris P.O.VIt’s been a week since I went to see if I could get any information or talk to the detective that’s on my sisters case and I asked my best friend Tony to come with me on our lunch break to see if I could finally get to speck with someone about V.“Dude it’s been years why do you always do this to yourself” Tony has come with me a few times and says I should just hirer a privet detective and at this point and after so many years I think he has a point but the problem with doing what he says is that a privet detect can do shit off the books and go digging in places the guys in blue can’t.“We go through this every time you come with me Tony” he sighs and holds his hands up in surrender and walks up the front steps with me to the large entrance door.“I’m here to see detective Harris” I coldly tell the lady that’s sitting at the information desk.“Is he expecting you” comes the lady’s question in a bored tone.“No” I answer back with just as much boredom in my tone as hers.“N
Chris P.O.VPortland has always been known for its small markets and shops and there's this one small oddities shop I've passed by a few times as I'm going to and from work I figured id check it out. I asked one of my work friends if he wanted to come with me since I’ve heard him talk about the place before and he said yes. Kevin and myself walk the two blocks from the office to the small shop, opening the door as an older man exiting the shop I walk in after he has passed with Kevin right behind me.I'm greeted by a soft voice “Welcome in feel free to ask if you need help” I remember that soft voice from last week looking to the register pale blue eyes meet my green ones and a wave of anxiousness washed over me as she rushed to grab her things and leave as quickly as she could. Not wanting her to think I totally forgot about her even though I kind of did with everything that’s been going on lately plus with the new development my ex girlfriend seemed to of given the Detective I have
Chris POVIt's Friday evening when I get a call from Andrew inviting me out with him and a few other. After another week of not following through with calling that Sasha girl back I felt bad and asked her friend Sofia from work for her address and I sent her a dozen roses and a small car that said sorry on it, if she’s not some slut then she should no the there from me but I've only meet with her twice and on once of those times she was beaten sitting outside of the police station, so I can’t say for sure if she’s not the type of girl to just open her legs for any dude that looks her way.I'm at the bar talking to my friend's when I just happen to look over and who do I see standing there Sasha and she’s looking right at me. What the fuck is this bitch doing here? I excuse myself from my friend and go over to her, leaning down a little bit tell were almost face to face I give her a hard stare.Sasha try’s to joke and get me to calm down but it only pisses me off more and become very ag
