The door to my room unlatches, and I hurry to tuck the picture under the stale bread once more. I haven’t been eating the inedible bits, only the cheese and meat, and today it works in my favor. Though if Brax isn’t the one to pick up the plate, we could all be getting in trouble.

Brax walks in, a smile on his face the moment he notices me. He stops in front of me, lifting his hand to gently wipe my face and I blush at the charcoal that comes off. “Best not to give away all the secrets, little flower.” He whispers before grabbing my tray and leaving.

That night he brings me another note.

He looks so dangerous. It’s me isn’t it? I can be dangerous.

A simple winky face is drawn next to it and I stifle a laugh, reminding myself to be silent. What is with the notes? Sure they’re fu

I’m getting kind of tired of sitting in a car, though I guess it beats the cage. Brax decided to take a turn driving, sandwiching me once again between two mates. Why we can’t spread out in the car when they’re all mountains, I’ll never know. Something about protecting me from all angles. But our tank still doesn’t have windows, and we’re in the middle of a forest that only speaks to me, so I’m not quite sure how much protection they plan on being. But for now I’ll play their weird alpha male games. For now.The farther north we get, the older the forest seems. Now, it forms full sentences, talking to me like an elder would a child. Regaling me with stories of it’s youth and the beings it’s had walk through it’s mighty trunks. After the third time trying to talk to me, my mates got the hint that I wasn’t alone in my head. With a muttered, “she’s fine, the forest just likes her,” from Kai, they left me to it.Careful, wild one. Danger lurks ahead, and it will hurt.I bolt upright, my h

We stop for camp one last time, deciding it’s better to mentally prepare to meet the crazed wolf king than to go in tired and grouchy. A part of me is still worried that he won’t see Kai as the little brother that went missing, but a hindrance to this Fae treaty he is trying to get signed.I couldn’t cut it as Fae royalty, there’s no way I’ll cut it as Wolf royalty if I kill the current king and force Kai to take over. Would he even be allowed to take over as a half-vampire?I shake my head, watching as the fire light dances along the tall pine trees, casting eerie shadows around us. I’m not worried, the forest is calm and watching out for us, but it doesn’t mean we should let our guard down when we’re so close to potential freedom.Where will we go next if Talon won’t guard us like Kai hopes? Faerie is out, even if they wanted me there, Kai would be killed on principal, my mate or not. There’s a whole wide world out there that we could hide in, create our own little homestead to live

I sigh, keeping my eyes centered on a small thread that’s started unraveling from the cushioned seat. “I was hurt pretty badly before, by someone who was supposed to love me. It makes it hard to trust now.”“I don’t want to stir up old wounds, your past is yours, and we have no right to it if you don’t want to tell us. You just caught me by surprise is all.” Rhett’s voice is steady, quiet, and I can feel his eyes boring into the side of my head through the rear view mirror. But I don’t look over at him. I can’t.“I don’t tell many people,” I whisper. “I’m not really allowed to.”Kai growls as Brax leans closer, resting his hand on my knee. “Why wouldn’t you be allowed to talk about it?” With his other hand he leans around me, flicking Kai on the forehead.Kai’s face morphs into one of shocked outrage and I have to bite back a giggle.“Can I tell you a story, little flower?” Brax asks suddenly, squeezing my knee gently.I nod slightly, my eyebrow furrowing as I look between Kai and Bra

Later that morning, after a breakfast of granola bars and berries the forest so kindly found for me, we were back on the move. The forest is thicker, the farther north we drive, which seems counterproductive to nature. Why would there be the most trees in the biome they have to fight hardest in to survive? Is it because the humans and supernaturals alike are less likely to live there because of the cold? Less likely to tear down the forests filled with magic if it hurts to live there…The stolen pieced together tank rattles over the rocks and roots with a weird sort of ease as the terrain begins to slope upwards. When coming to Earth, I hadn’t paid much attention to where the packs call home, I merely found a small town that could use a doctor and invited myself in. Just how far north will we need to drive before we get to the sacred land of the King? As a forest Fae, I’m not really made for mountainous climbs, but anything beats where we’ve been.I sandwiched between Kai and Brax, cu

I could hear the birds outside our sanctuary singing their early morning songs. Sometime in the night the branches above us had spread to let in the stars, and now a soft glow from the early morning sun pours through the window, casting soft shadows and warmth across the room. The scent of nature hangs in the air, almost as if I were home, and nestled in the soft bed with Kai, I guess I am.His arm is wrapped tightly around my waist, his face buried in my neck, almost as if he was afraid I would disappear on him in the middle of the night, and with our luck, it was a possibility. He’s relaxed in a way I’ve never seen him before, not that we saw much of each other in our prison, but it warms my heart to see it now. With deep and steady breaths, he’s completely out. Dead to the world…Which means he doesn’t hear the footsteps like I do, or the soft creak of the door.A small grin threatens my lips, but I keep my eyes closed, my breathing even, counting down the moments to the inevitable

I groan, throwing my head back and arching my hips toward him, but manage a breathy, “Yes. Fuck, yes.”“Good girl,” he growls and I almost cum a third time.I should be worried, but my body was made to stretch for him. For all three of them.He pushes in slowly, before pulling back and thrusting again. I whimper at the stretch, but need more, and patience has never been one of my virtues. I hook my legs behind him, pulling him toward me in one swift motion. My scream at the bite of pain swiftly turns into a groan of pleasure as he’s seated within me fully. His breathing comes in short pants, as he stares down at where we’re connected. His eyes are blood red as he looks up at me, heat swimming in their depths. “I wanted to take this slow for our first time together, do this right. But the bond is pulling so hard, I won’t be able to go easy.”“I don’t want slow or easy. I just want you. Forever.” I smile shyly, waiting for rejection like in the past. But instead, it’s as if those words
