She Did Not Deserve It

The winner had just 50 votes more from the second one. Obviously I was not the winner. I even had thought that I will not get even one vote. But I got 20 votes and 1 teacher's vote. I was thankful and shocked to hear the votes I got. I was shocked because many did not know who I was. I was like an outcast. However, I thought I got those votes because of my speech. I even got more than Samaira. She got 10 votes in total without any teacher's vote.

Anyway Tyler had succeeded in his place. Tanie won the title. Although she won, Alice had many teacher's votes. But the voting system was made to be done everything fair. I could see a little sadness in her eyes, but she congratulated Tanie and Tyler. I could see mocking expressions for Alice and me in their eyes. It was like as if they were trying to tell us, "ha-ha, how do you feel to lose and how do you feel to get only 25 votes." They did not say it but I could feel that they were trying to tell us those things. But still we all congratulated them.

 Their names were announced as the Boy Captain and the Girl Captain.  I asked Alice if she was fine then she said it was just a title. It did not matter so much. But I knew she still felt bad. So, on the way to home, I took her to our favorite snack place. There we ate and I finally made her mood fine. Then we returned home. Well, indeed the title was not also so good. Maybe it did not actually suit Tanie. Because actually the two captains missed lots of lectures. They had been involved in other works regarding school. So, they missed the lectures.

 After few weeks we had our first test. Everyone studied hard. I gave my best. And after few days the results came. Tyler did well although he had missed lectures. But on the other hand, Tanie had really decreased her marks. Even in one of the subject, she just passed. She used to be 5th in position but eventually her position decreased. Well, that's when I thought if Alice would have got the position, she would do well in both her jobs. In studying and also the Captain’s duties too. Also, a bully did not actually deserve a leader's title. She did not deserve it. Only if Tyler had not helped her, it was obvious that Alice would win the title.

The other days, we were always busy, because we had to work hard. We even sometimes overstayed in school to study. Then, we again got a notice. The notice was that everyone from our class had to stay for extra classes after school's lectures. The extra classes are always helpful. It helped a lot in our studies. In extra classes we can even get helps from other friends. We could discuss all the problems freely. I somewhat liked the extra class thing. The only thing was I returned home late. But it was fun even in extra classes.

Well, I got always busy with school works. I started practicing a lot and I studied hard. On a weekend, I was free, so I went to my sister to have fun with her and talk to her. That day we were talking, eating, and watching movies. We were having fun, then suddenly a message popped up on her phone. I thought it was one from her friends, so I told her to talk to her friend. Suddenly, she just turned her phone off. Actually I was surprised. This was the first time she ignored a message in front of me. I felt weird and asked her what was happening. She took a deep breath and said, “Do you remember those brothers?”                                                        

I had no idea what she was asking so I asked in confusion, “What brothers? Who are you talking about?”                                                                

She said, “Mike, the one who said he liked you and Pikey who said he liked me.”                                                                                                          

I replied, “Yes. So what about them? Is Pikey still bothering you with messages? I had already forgotten about them because I did not get texts after that day.”                                                                                    

She said, “Oh, thank god, Mike is not bothering you. You will not believe what I am going to say you.”                                                 

I just said in worry, “What happened?”

She said, “It has been few days that Pikey has been bothering me. Whenever I return from school, I can see him sitting on that shop. It was as if he was waiting for me. Whenever I walked, he would see me. He has been texting me a lot. He always said he loved me a lot.  Then, just the day before yesterday, suddenly he came out of blue and said me Hi. It was like he was literally blocking my way. I was so afraid that I just said hi and somehow walked my way home.”

I was so shocked. I could not imagine that he would do such things. I was filled with rage inside me. Just how could he bother my younger sister but everything was just inside. I could not do anything about it. Then I asked, “So, the text is from him?”                           

She nodded and said, “Yes.”                   

I said, “I guess you should make him clear not to bother you anymore. Just tell him that you already like someone else and you are in a relationship.”                                             

She looked at me and said, “You know that I do not like lying. But I also had thought about that. But again what if this idea does not work. What if he still keeps bothering?”                      

I said, “First try to tell him that and if he again bothers you then let's just complain it to our parents.”                                               

She said then, “I guess you are right.”

I said, “Do it right now.”

She nodded, turned her phone on. There was already a message on her phone. It was just a message “Hi”. Then, she replied to that message. Soon a reply came. For a very few minutes the conversation was decent, but then the conversation was no more decent. Then, I told her to text what I told her. She texted and then the message was seen but no reply came from the other side.

We waited for the reply. We both were afraid. What if he still bothers her? We will have to tell our parents, but our parents could just let that family not live in this area. Our parents and grandparents were respected by many people in this area. If that happens then we will be earning an enemy. Well not us but sister can have trouble later. Finally after an hour, a reply came, it said, “I see you are already in a relationship. But can we remain friends?”

Then we were on a dilemma on what to reply. We both were not the ones to be rude to anyone. Then after we discussed for a while what to reply, she typed, “Well, right now I am not having any time to chat because I am focusing on my studies. So, we can be friends, but I am afraid I will be able to reply you from now onwards.” She sent it.

Soon a reply came, “Okay as you wish, with a sad emoji expression.”

 We both felt weird but it was a relief that she was able to get away from Pikey's troubles. Then, I heard that after that day she did not see Pikey anymore waiting on that shop and there were also no messages from him. We both were relieved.
