Chapter 212

Author: Flower Sock
That night, Gregory finally got to eat white wine mussels made by Anathea. He'd been craving exactly this. Because of that, he told Bella to get off work early.

Bella's eyes were filled with gratitude toward Anathea. Sure enough, now that Anathea was back, everything really was different.

Anathea responded with a faint, polite smile.

But once Bella left, she turned to Gregory, and her smile gradually faded. "I'm done eating. I'll go wash up."

Gregory narrowed his eyes slightly.

As soon as she stood up, Gregory stood up as well, pulling her in beside the dining table.

"Gregory…" Anathea's eyes flickered with surprise. Their bodies were now extremely close to one another. The proximity made her uncomfortable. They were so close that she could still feel his heat even through a layer of fabric.

There was a guarded look in her eyes.

Gregory took out a handkerchief and raised his hand, wiping the soup stain from the corner of her lips.

Then, he leaned close to her face and said in

"In any case, Anathea is my wife now, and she's the only one I'll ever want. I will not replace her with anyone else. I'm warning you—drop whatever thoughts you're having, or I'll have to be rough with you," Gregory warned.Theo frowned in displeasure. "You really think Anathea still wants to be your wife?""You can ask her yourself."Gregory was confident that Anathea would stay by his side because of Adam. As long as he had that leverage, he had nothing to fear.Theo clenched his fingers and raised his voice. "If she doesn't want to be your wife anymore, I'll take her away. I swear I will!"Gregory didn't care about his posturing. It was just a loser's empty bravado. But since Theo was his cousin, he held back his temper and responded, "You won't get the chance."Gregory would never give Theo that chance. Anathea belonged to him. No one else could take her away.He wanted Anathea's body, heart—everything. So, right after Theo left, he immediately called Martin and told him to

Watching Gregory's fake pitiful act, Theo was stupefied, his eyes wide.He quickly turned to Anathea and explained, "It's not what it looks like. Gregory is lying! You have to believe me!""Lying? So, you're saying I injured myself?" Gregory asked faintly, wiping his face and hissing from the pain. Then, he looked at Anathea, complaining, "Annie, it hurts so much…""Gregory! Drop the act already!" Theo hollered furiously. He'd known Gregory for so many years, but never could he have imagined that the bold, decisive CEO of Sinclair Group would turn out to be such a shameless, manipulative bastard.Noticing the fire in Theo's eyes, Gregory immediately shook his head at Anathea. "Annie, I'm not pretending."Theo's fists clenched so tightly they cracked. "Ms. Jacobson, can't you see through this?""Enough. If you two want to fight, take it outside. Our company's too small to host both of you at once. Mr. Harrington, see you another time," Anathea uttered coldly."Wait—" Theo had

The next second, Gregory shouted coldly, "Theo!"Theo turned his head, only for a sharp punch to come flying to his face. His eyes widened in surprise as he tried to dodge, but Gregory was much faster than he'd expected. The punch landed squarely on his jaw."Ow!" Theo grabbed his jaw, stumbling to the side."Gregory! You—"Theo couldn't believe Gregory would sneak-attack him."That's punishment for going after what's mine," Gregory uttered icily."Anathea isn't yours! She doesn't even want to be with you!" Theo was furious at Gregory's smugness. He swung a punch at Gregory, but Gregory caught it and quickly neutralized his strength.Gregory had always presented himself in polished suits. Theo had completely forgotten that Gregory had professional military training. His combat skills were top-notch.By the time Theo realized this, it was too late. He'd already been overpowered by Gregory, who'd rendered him immobile."Let go! You're not being fair!""Why would I fight fair w

Everyone looked at the solid gold piece with waves of admiration and envy. They'd seen extravagant things before, but never anything like this."See? Once Mr. Sinclair makes a move, he goes all out," someone commented."Yeah, and the design of that piece is the exact one Nat won the gold prize with at the competition. It's so meaningful. Mr. Sinclair put a lot of thought into this!""Exactly, Mr. Sinclair treats Nat so well! I'm so jealous!""Seriously? Did they get paid to hype Gregory up?" Evangeline muttered under her breath.Anathea shrugged.Gregory was evidently pleased by the compliments, as he smiled faintly. "All of you here are my wife's colleagues, and I appreciate how you've looked out for her. So, I've prepared some gifts for everyone."As soon as he finished speaking, Martin led a few people pushing carts loaded with a wide variety of gift boxes from luxury brands. Each one was worth five figures at minimum.Everyone's eyes lit up."Wow, you really went all out.

Anathea looked up and happened to see the pair watching her eagerly."Mom, try the shrimp I peeled.""Try mine first, Annie.""Try mine first, Mom!""Mine first!"Anathea was speechless.…Over the next two days, Gregory and Xander only became more eager to please Anathea.Anathea remained indifferent, going about her routine of eating and working on time. Not much had changed, but with the recent lack of emotional turmoil, she was in a noticeably better mood.It was especially so since the studio's project had made major progress—the scale had doubled, and they had even moved into a much larger office building."Come on, here's to our business booming and thriving!" Evangeline raised her glass cheerfully. The other colleagues also raised their glasses for a toast."Nat, aren't you going to have a drink?" Lena asked.Anathea just smiled and shook her head. "No, thanks. I've got work to do later. Drinking would get in the way.""Oh, come on, Nat! You're too hardworking!" E

As their eyes met, Anathea saw the desire surging in Gregory's eyes. He looked as if he wanted to take her the very next second. She froze for a moment, then looked away. She pressed her lips together, her tone cold. "If you're going to be like this, then stop wiping me down."She moved to get up, but Gregory caught her wrist."Sorry, Annie. I just… miss you too much," he said apologetically. "But I'll control myself. I won't hurt you again. Trust me."Anathea stared at his reflection in the mirror, seeing how he pressed his lips to restrain himself. But she was unmoved. In the past, whenever the urge struck him, he would act on it immediately and throw her onto the bed without a second thought. He'd never cared about how she felt. With so many past instances as warnings, her trust in him was nearly nonexistent. So even this show of self-restraint did nothing to sway her.In fact, wanting something that was right in front of him but being unable to have it was even more tormenti

"I'll help you," said Gregory.Anathea looked up at him strangely, in disbelief that he'd actually said that.He was acting too strangely. This wasn't the cold and distant Gregory she used to know at all. He was so considerate it was almost unbelievable.Without a second thought, she refused. "No need.""But I want to."As soon as Gregory said that, he bent down and scooped her up in his arms before she could react."Gregory! Put me down!" Anathea cried out, startled."No."Gregory carried her straight into the bathroom. The bathtub was already filled with hot water, with steam rising from it. There was also a chair beside it.Everything had already been prepared in advance. Gregory had been waiting for Anathea to go wash up so he could help her under perfectly reasonable pretenses. He even had a noble-sounding excuse ready. "It'll be hard for you to do it by yourself. If you catch a cold or bump into something, that would be bad. So, give me a chance. Let me help you, okay?

Natalie looked at Eleanor expectantly. But Eleanor only paused briefly and tugged at the corners of her lips. "That's… uncertain."The light in Natalie's eyes gradually dimmed."But if you're willing to fight for it, I can guarantee that you'll get anything you want."Eleanor reached out to help Natalie up, then gently tucked the loose strands of hair from her forehead behind her ears and straightened her collar. Eleanor examined Natalie like a piece of art she'd crafted."I'll help you with everything I've got.""Eleanor…" Natalie was deeply moved. She knew Eleanor had always been good to her, but she also felt confused."I've been wanting to ask you—why are you so good to me?"After all, she was just an orphan. Her father died young, and she was raised in an orphanage. When she was seven, Eleanor, who'd come to the orphanage for charity work, had taken her in. From then on, Eleanor had treated her incredibly well. It was as though Natalie were her biological daughter."Be

Gregory hadn't even wanted to wear the pants Natalie had touched. He'd walked out in just a hotel bathrobe, leaving her sitting on the floor, utterly humiliated. She'd thought Gregory had a personal condition. Otherwise, how could he have had no reaction to her at all?But now that she thought about it, every time her seduction had failed, Gregory had probably gone straight to Anathea afterward. Every single one of her carefully laid plans had only benefitted Anathea. She'd even kept fooling herself. She'd staged photos and dabbed lipstick on her chest and collarbone to fake the marks of passion with Gregory just to flaunt them in front of Anathea. How ridiculous! In the end, she was the complete and utter fool!Natalie was nearly consumed with jealousy. "Why? Why would Greg touch Anathea when he doesn't even like her? Why can Anathea give birth to one child and get pregnant with another? Why can't I? Why?"She repeated the same questions over and over in a broken voice, on the
