Chapter 98

Author: Flower Sock
"Is that guy still as much of a jerk?" Theo asked, his interest piqued.

He'd always had a soft spot for drama.

"I honestly couldn't tell you if he's still a jerk," Aspen said, her gaze moving across the room before settling on Gregory, her smile carrying a hint of something unreadable. "Mr. Sinclair, what do you think? Is he still a jerk?"

The room went silent, the question hanging in the air. No one had expected that, least of all aimed at Gregory. Was he involved in this somehow?

At those words, Natalie's expression tightened. A sudden realization seemed to hit her, and she quickly turned her head toward Anathea.

Natalie remembered how Anathea had walked in with Evangeline from Eden Studio, which meant she was the floral designer behind "Verdant Blush"!

Could Anathea really be Aspen's protégé? If that was true, then everything Aspen had just said had been a subtle jab at her!

A cold tension settled on Natalie's face at the thought. But she quickly recovered, a smirk of disdain

Gregory's throat bobbed. He thought Anathea would lash out, demand answers, and look at him with those clear eyes and accuse him of cruelty like she used to.But she didn't.She just looked at him calmly. So calm that it unsettled him.He walked toward her, but the sharp pull of pain in his abdomen made his steps falter. His hand shot out to grip the balcony railing.Anathea's lashes fluttered. In the end, she took the first step. She walked over and gently supported his arm."Come inside," she said softly, her voice giving away nothing.Gregory let her guide him back into the room. She helped him onto the couch, then turned to retrieve fresh bandages and antiseptic from the first aid kit.She didn't say a word the whole time. That silence suffocated him more than any scream ever could.Gregory watched her lowered eyes and the delicate fingers skillfully tending his wound. The helplessness in his heart grew heavier. He would rather have her hit him or yell at him than treat h

Anathea thought she wouldn't feel anything. But the moment she saw the scar—the one he got because of her—her hands began to tremble. She dipped a cotton swab into the antiseptic and gently dabbed around the edge of the wound.Gregory's body tensed instantly. A sheen of cold sweat broke out on his forehead, but he bit down hard and didn't make a sound.Anathea moved more gently. Her head was lowered. Her long hair fell like a curtain around her face, hiding her expression. She could smell the faint scent of his body wash mixed with the sharp tang of blood. The combination made her chest tighten. She just wanted to get this over with and leave. But then Gregory reached out with his uninjured hand and gently took the one she was using to hold the cotton swab.Anathea froze for a moment, then looked up and met his eyes. The coldness, sarcasm, and obsessive edge that used to live in them were all gone. What remained was a kind of fragile vulnerability that she had never seen before

Before leaving, Anathea glanced back at Theo. "You saw all of that? It's time for you to go find your own happiness too."Theo paused, then finally let out a long breath. He said sincerely, "I wish you both the best.""Thanks," Gregory said, giving Theo a firm pat on the shoulder. But Theo still looked unwilling to give up. "If you ever treat her badly, I swear I'll steal her right out from under your nose.""Don't bother trying," Gregory replied firmly. "You won't get the chance."From now on, he would hold Anathea's hand tight, for better or worse, every day and every night.…On the way back to Sinclair Villa, Martin gave Gregory a full report on the aftermath."Lennox, Harvey, and the others are facing multiple charges, including embezzlement and public endangerment. The evidence is solid, and the police have formally placed them under arrest. A formal trial's next."Natalie's been taken in too, for conspiring with Michael in the abduction and assault. We've got witnesses

"Natalie! Are you crazy?" Theo shouted."Crazy?" Natalie sneered. "Honestly, these days, that almost feels like a compliment."So what if she was crazy? At least now, she had a crowd of people falling with her.If she had stayed sane, all she would have left was a mother who kept abandoning her and a life that would have collapsed the second things went south. If she was going to go down, she might as well go completely crazy. She would make every last person who had looked down on her or humiliated her pay the price."You both love her, right? Then prove it. Stab yourselves for her. Let me see just how deep that love runs!"Natalie's eyes gleamed with twisted delight. Watching Gregory and Anathea dance on the strings she pulled—this was what real satisfaction felt like.Theo gritted his teeth and reached for the knife on the ground, but Gregory grabbed his wrist."What are you doing?" Theo snapped. "Don't you see that lunatic's about to kill Anathea?""Calm down," Gregory sai

"So what if you've found proof?" Lennox looked straight at Gregory. "If you take me down, you're just helping someone else rise."If Lennox were out of the picture, Thomas would become the rightful heir and head of the Sinclair family. "That does nothing for you, does it?""You're really despicable!" Theo snapped.Even he could tell that the shameless Lennox was threatening Gregory. He wanted to drag Gregory down so that the latter would have no choice but to keep serving as his weapon in order to hold on to the family head's position. But Gregory just let out a soft chuckle. "The rule that the head of the Sinclair family must be a Sinclair by blood is fair enough. But who says I have to be Holden's son to count as one?"Lennox's face twitched.Everyone else in the room looked stunned. Their eyes were fixed on Gregory. In that moment, it suddenly hit them that Gregory and Lennox were the ones who looked the most alike.Thomas froze. "Wait… Don't tell me…""I wish I didn't have

When Gregory arrived at the Sinclair residence, the entire Sinclair family was already gathered.Eleanor looked at Gregory with smug satisfaction. This time, she was finally going to erase the mistake she had made all those years ago.She should have gotten rid of this ingrate long ago."What did you want to see me about, Grandpa?" Gregory asked calmly."You've got some nerve calling me that." Lennox's once-kind expression was now replaced by cold contempt. He turned to Eleanor. "Tell this bastard the truth about where he came from.""Yes, Lennox."Smiling, Eleanor pulled out a DNA test report and announced, "This here is a DNA test between Gregory and Holden. As you can see, he's not part of this family at all!"A wave of shock rippled through the room."What? How could that be?""No wonder he never looked a thing like Holden! Turns out they're not related!""That means he's got no right to be the head of the Sinclair family! He should give up the seal of the family head ri
