Sherly's provocation

Yuriel stared blankly out the bedroom window at the vast expanse of sea. The sun was setting and twilight rays were floating on the sea's surface. Seagulls soared through the sky. She didn't know how much time had passed because she hadn't counted since her confinement days.

Yuriel shifted her gaze to the seafloor. The room was on the edge of a cliff. This kept her from breaking the glass and escaping. What if she shattered the glass and jumped? It made no difference whether she drowned or hit a rock to get away from this place or that devil-like man. She was ready to die.

While deep in Yuriel’s thoughts, the bedroom door opened and a maid cautiously entered the room with a tray in hand. She looked at the woman sitting under the large french window pane.

The woman stared blankly at the sea stretching outside like a caged bird longing to fly freely.

"Madam, it's time for lunch," the maid said, placing a tray of food in front of her. But the woman didn't move or even look at her.
