01. Marriage over Career

"Sometimes our life changing turn seems so miserable in present that our vision to see future blurs out"

Author's POV

A beautiful room decorated simply with less furniture and a light purple colour paint in walls with white in contrast was today filled with darkness. The curtains and small round led lights tugged in the ceilings were off too with only a sob left to hear with hiccups consuming the silence in the room.

The voice resonating inside the room was of a girl sitting on the left side of the bed with her big anarkali flowing down on the ground from the bed like water flowing down through a stream and she was holding her head in her hand's. Tears were uncontrollably rolling off through her doe like beautiful eyes which were now all red and puffy with her long hairs opened and covering her face totally.

Her voice was worn out and so was her soul but tears were flowing down enormously as if someone opened the tap but forgot to close it.

Her cute little innocent heart was feeling shattered and broke into a million pieces with the mere thought of getting married while the aching pain was getting unbearable for her to handle.

It was tormenting her that why her parents who just met her after years were in a hurry to send her away. They were already never close to her nor showered their immense love making her feel detached and now when she finally found a reason to stay with them even for few days they want to bid her bye again. But this time it won't be like old times because a marriage will create an invisible boundary between her parents and her making her more and more distant than ever.

She didn't want to get married but her father was determined to get her married soon. She just wasn't ready for this or you can say she never will and that's why her heart wasn't aching only but piercing down. Because of her father's unexpected behavioural decision but for her dreams too which were about to shut down.

She dreamt to be a great businesswoman in this world and it was her only sole aim in life which she thinks will shatter after marriage under the responsibilities burden.

It's not like being a girl she never thought of getting married or dreamt about but because of her strong will to be a successful woman with hardships is not so easy in this world that never settled well with her goals.

For her marrying was never her goal as her only passion was being successful in her career which she will be sooner or later. She feels like getting married will take her independence, will to do job, create boundaries around her and most importantly will make her leave it being a supporter of someone's else goal instead of a sole prior of her own goals. As the relationships and its responsibility makes many dreams crushed down under it and that person gets abandoned to leave or forget them behind, especially girls.

She felt confused and her head went dizzy while her mind was hazy. She cursed thinking why she needed to be a girl, if wasn't, then today no one would have forced her to get married.

Which indirectly means keeping her goals aside?

Her inner soul was churned up and now she was all messed up. Thinking how few days ago she was getting close to her dreams and now it's all shattering in a fast fraction of time near her eyes with herself.

Sand was slipping down through her hands and no matter what she does she was unable to get hold of it. The time was passing fluidly and with every passing second her breathes were getting hitched and tears flowed more freely.

Everything was shattering in a fast pace in her life, within two days. And now here she is with red puffed eyes, messy tangled hair open, head in her hands, mouth cursing herself and fate with dress and pillows all wet in her tears. While cheeks were not getting a chance to even dry up for once thinking is it really worthy to choose 'Marriage over Career.'

FLASHBACK

TWO DAYS AGO

Applauding sound was what resonated in that long conference room which lit up with the clappings and appraisals. Everyone was whipped with her presentation and skills in work making them gawk at her with amusement. While she was holding her head up, chest proudly broad, and confidence and happiness was all over her face.

She headed out from the conference hall after the meeting and went to her cabin. When someone jumped on her back yelling like a crazy maniac. She rolled her eyes knowing it's none other than Farha, her best friend. The only creature in the world who does this freely around this world anytime.

"Ohh my God D you rocked it inside making every fucking bitch shut and stunned", she squealed getting down and Dia turned to her giving her a cheeky smile.

"You know what I already knew that, you will nail it!! And guess what, it calls for celebration. Woohhoooo.. Afterall you were working your ass off for 2 weeks straight so dedicatedly and I swear if they would have dared to reje....", she was cut off in the middle as Dia shut her mouth with few almond.

Farha's eyes widened in shock as her mouth was filled with something but realising it's almond she enjoying munched on it. While Dia stared at her bestie biting her inner cheeks, thinking how in this world she got her.

"Yum... It's good. Get me some more", saying she inserted her hand in her coats pocket.

No matter how and what the situation is she always manages to drag her in awkward moments.

The whole office was gawking at them, making her feel awkward as she hates to be the centre of attraction. She then quickly dragged Farha inside her cabin and made sure the door was pushed close.

"Why do you do this Farha? You know very well I hate being centre of attraction?", she complaint while Farha rolled her eyes and sat on her table.

"Really? Then how do you do presentations near everyone in the conference hall?", she inquired.

"That's different.... I mean that's my profession, passion and my only desire."

"Yes and you nailed it. Now, come on, just take a leave and have a celebration", she winced.

"The office hour's are still going on. So go back to your cabin and finish your work while I'll do mine. Will think about it after office hour's", she said coldly taking her seat.

"Even if your boss himself asks you to come, will you work?", a voice appears out of the blue, making their head turn.

"Yea!! Krish Thank God you came. Now Miss Agarwal you can't deny your boss do you?", she said with a knowing smirk and jumped off the table doing a hi-fi with him.

Her eyes then fall on the jar of those almonds which she was not getting enough of and stretched her hands grabbing it. She munched on them like a greedy kid and when Krish seeing it tried to get one she smacked on his palm which he shrugged and had a handful of it while she whined making Dia slam her head lightly with her palm.

"You guys are too much", she says, sighing softly and shook her head in negativity.

"Oh we love you too sweetheart", both chirped making her roll her eyes and they did a group hug.

Breaking the hug Krish, Dia and Farha left the office without wasting any more seconds making other's eye at them. But they didn't give a damn about it apart of Dia who was flushed red again seeing those few squinty eyes on them which were silently passing mocking comments out of envy.

Only she is the one in their group who gets worried thinking what if someone judges her. But the other two acts cool and enjoy their life to the fullest and make her do as well.

Krish took them in his car making Dia leave her car in parking only. They went straight to their duplex apartment for getting theirselves fresh again. As the meeting was 3 hour's long after lunch break and now it's almost 5:43 pm now and they badly need a cool shower.

Krish was their boss as his father made him the CEO of his company a few months back. His father is still in the MD post but rarely comes into office as the three musketeers handle everything smoothly making him tension free.

Mr. Sanjeev Rathod loves and adores three of them at same level. And showed his trust always for them even helped them where ever they stuck. He was more than a father figure to them and the same love was from their side too for him.

Dia is his favourite and loves her more than his own son. He even offered her the CEO position saying he has seen her hardwork since she was in college and worked as an intern in his company, he genuinely found her more capable for that position. But she refused saying Krish being his son should be honored by that position as he was hardworking too.

They left for the club in two hour's together as they live in the same apartment and brought it together with their savings and earnings from high school part time jobs.

Farha was ready in her shimmer dark blue sequin short dress reaching her mid thigh which she bought last week. While Krish was wearing ripped dark blue denim, black tee and brown jacket.

Dia wore a white dress round neck reaching her knees with frills on her dress. She did simply a high ponytail with few tendrils on her face left freely. She did a light makeup as she knows Farha will kill her if she don't. Atlast she wore a 4 inch solid white heel and descended downstairs.

They all were enjoying the club though she didn't really like going there. After a few dance moves and being tipsy as they rarely drinks they went for doing dinner in Dia's favourite restaurant.

Devouring the dinner heartily she was enjoying the moment with her friend's laughing and smiling when one phone call from her home came and everything turned upside down. Her happiness were all changed into a amused and worried look while palms went sweaty.

She felt her heart coming in her mouth in panic and it seemed like she would pass away right now. While Krish and Farha who were fighting over food few seconds ago was now looking at her with concern and worries asking what happened.

"I don't know guy's. It was Dad's call saying he is sending me flight ticket and I need to leave for India tomorrow morning."

Dia left her plate as she was almost done and so was her friends after this news and the look she had. Krish asked the waiter to pack the leftovers as they got ready to leave for their apartment clearing the bill. All the fun and excitement with happiness alluring their faces were turned out to be in a sad and shady mood.

Reaching their apartment Farha helped her to pack her bags while Dia tried to reach her mom and know what's going on. But no one picked it up making her worry more and anxiety hovered over her.

Seeing Dia like this, Krish decided to do something and set up a movie night in their screening room with popcorn of different flavours, brownie ice-creams and samosas for them with the leftover food parceled from the restaurant. He dragged her with him and Farha followed behind only to find a great movie plan set up for them.

She squealed while Dia was astounded but her mood was too gloomy to make her feel happy. But in the end when she looked at her bestfriends face and their effort to make her smile she joined up with them enjoying their moment to their fullest keeping that upcoming problem aside which was creating unwanted havoc inside her.

Only if she knew this is going to happen after coming here, she would have never agreed to come and endure this pain. She would have stayed back in Australia or hide herself in one of those islands Krish have, to avoid this marriage proposal at any cost.
