CHAPTER 30: HIS PAST (2)

The next time Gavin opened his eyes, it was to darkness. He’s lying somewhere soft but he could not figure out where he was beyond his clouded senses and vision. For a second, he thought he was dreaming again, panic immediately settled in his chest, his breathing quickly turning erratic. An involuntary whine built up in his throat, high and pitchy—a distressed call. His body grew taut with tension, legs curling close to his chest as he threaded closer to another pit of panic attack when a door to his left burst open. He could not see the person well, with the sudden flood of light blinding him, but he was able to catch his scent. It was Ainar.
