Chapter 3. The Rogues

When Tristan snapped back into focus, he went to his Luna,

"What the hell happened?" He asked.

"Your Wolf took over when you placed that Amulet around your neck. My Luna Chain was barely able to bring you back. What did you see?" She asked.

"A memory I thought I lost a long time ago. This amulet has brought me closer to finding my mate, my salvation. We need to go now." Tristan barked.

The Day of the Council’s Gathering was clear, bright, and one for the history books. There were a lot of new wolves mixed with familiar ones. Omegas were to the back of the Court, while the Alphas, Betas, and Lunas were ushered into position for the procession.

“I’m grateful these Gatherings are 7 years apart.” Rex frowned.

“It’s not that bad, is it?” Makai joked.

“You haven’t been to a Gathering to welcome a new Royal Alpha, have you?” Rex asked.

“No, and I’ve been around for a while now, maybe I’ll meet my mate?” He clapped his hands together, looking around like a creeper.

“Stop that, I swear you’re never going to grow up.” Rex smacked his beta in the back of his head, walking off chuckling.

The howl went out, calling all wolves to the Grounds as the ceremony was about to begin. Everyone was looking to the balcony to get their first glance of the new Royal Alpha.

“Have fun, dear. Go make new friends.” Makai whispered in Rex’s ear. Rex just kicked him in the ass.

             _--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_--_

After the first 2 packs had gone up to meet and lave their offerings, the atmosphere changed. There was far less talking, laughing, and cheering than before. Rex shook his head, making sure it wasn’t just him. No, it was progressively getting quieter.

Looking out amongst the crowd, realizing that smiles, and laughter were being replaced by gasps and fits of coughing as people dropped to their knees trying to catch their breath. That’s when he noticed the smoke that barely hovered off the ground.

Jo’s plan wasn't to hit the new Royal Alpha directly, intent on killing his Luna to force the new Alpha take a new one in the middle of the Council. In that instant he will have one of his Omegas slip in amongst the chaos to take the Luna's place by charming the new Alpha with her Omega skill.

A Rogue Male Omega is dangerous , but a Female Omega is deadly. They feel love for no one and nothing, their auras too powerful to be denied, they always get their way no matter the Wolf Spirit or Rank.

Unfortunately, the new Alpha has an 'unnatural' history that Jo hadn't discovered until the day of the attack.

Using Wolf Thought he called to his special Omega,

**Jo**

"Aisha, come to me, I need to give you the last of your instructions for the Council."

Feeling the familiar mental twinge that is unique to Jo ordering her to go to him.

**Aisha**

"At once.”

Rolling her eyes, getting to her feet she walk to the tent door, but stopped at the mirror on her vanity table, smoothing down her hair, electrified from the wolf thought connection, and headed to Jo’s room.

She knocked loudly on the door, not bothering to wait till he said to come in, Aisha stood quietly till he addressed her.

"Thank you for coming, 'Luna'. Jo smiled.

Bowing dramatically she replied,

"Yes, Sir Alpha..." looking up at him with burning coal eyes.

"Aisha, you can be quite abrasive when you want to be. Your 'Wolf Thought' felt like sandpaper in my mind. Still sharpening you gifts I see?" Jo applauded his Omega.

Smiling at him she walked up to him and whispered in his ear,

"That new Royal won't know what hit him when he sees me. His Luna will be dead, his sorrow will cloud his judgment, giving me that one heartbeat to infiltrate his senses and make him mine." Aisha smiled wickedly.

"Good. I expect nothing less. You and your team shimmer at IN’s signal with Min. He will conceal both your auras and ranks until you reach the new Royal. Once you have eyes on the new alpha, link as many of us as you can before you shimmer." Jo said seriously.

"Yes, Sir Alpha. This will be a Council gathering NO Wolf should miss." Aisha said laughing as she waved over her back as she left.

None knew that the smoke laced fog was only the beginning. Jo’s wolves had managed to slip past the guards, thanks to Chad’s order being that specific wolves were granted entry, no questions asked.

Min, Aisha, and Lee were getting into position to wait for the signal so IN could link all wolves to initiate the next stage.

“Remember that ‘something bad’ thing I mentioned earlier? It’s here.” Rex motioned to the upper balcony.

“Who the hell would attack a Council Gathering like this, so openly?” Makai asked.

“The focus of their attack is the new alpha.” Rex growled, phasing at the same time. Jumping from where he and Makai were, Rex’s wolf completely took over, leaving Makai to catch up.

“Wait, let me come with you!” Makai yelled.

“I hear you little wolf.” Rex’s wolf growled. As soon as the words entered Makai’s brain, something told him to be there, but away out of the way.

Seeing the scene from where he was, Makai was the only clear minded one, now that Rex’s wolf was off to the races.

**Makai**

“Boss! Don’t charge in so recklessly! Hold up, at least wait for me damn it!”

**Rex**

“I hear you, young wolf. Let’s go then.”

The two wolves were in view of the whole situation. One of Jo’s males Alphas was getting a little too comfortable with one of Tristan’s omegas. Rex got a clear view of the Alpha going after the Omega and stopped cold realizing the wolf he saw was a mirror image of Rex.

“What foolery is this?” Makai exclaimed.

“It’s a glamor. There’s not too many wolves that posess that ability. I can only think of one.” Rex growled and took off again.

“Damn it! Rex, you’re an idiot!” He said, going after him again.

Reaching the tier where the conflict started, Rex charged Tristan , but he was too late. A bright shimmer of silver and the offending wolves were gone, leaving Tristan’s Luna jumped in front of the blade that would have ended Tristan’s life, the person who killed his Luna was wearing Rex’s face!

Still running at the shimmer, Rex’s wolf instinctively held back, giving Makai a close encounter with his alpha’s ass. When Rex looked up, the Luna was dead, and Tristan was nowhere to be seen.

“A little warning next time?” Makai growled.

“Sorry. It was like my wolf didn’t want me to go near and touch that shimmer. It was the strangest feeling, my Wolf has never pulled me back before, so I listened to him.” Rex said.

“Who do you think took Tristan?” Makai asked.

“There a very few wolves with the glamor ability. I need to rectify this before the wolves really believe I was behind it. We need to get to the Council Chambers to discuss this. You need to get the other pack Alphas to the chamber and explain what we saw. Go now, Makai, gather the others.” Rex ordered.

**IN**

“Jo, we achieved our directive. We are 100 miles out.”

**Jo**

“Ecellent. Felix and Nik have already bugged out. See you soon.”

Lee put up a hand, indicating they should stop. Looking into the distance, seeing a red aura coming at them,

**Aisha**

“Get a little closer!”

**Jo**

“Got cha!”

When Makai and Damien caught up to them, all they saw was a shimmer and red fire.

“What the hell just happened?” Makai asked Damien.

“Man, they have some serious skills. My scouts couldn’t see them until they were past us. We aren’t going to find them now, go back and talk with the Alphas that have arrived.” He said and sprinted off.

Rex, Kit and a few others were talking when Makai and Damien returned.

“What did you find out?” Rex asked Alpha voice shaking the wolves.

“Three Rogues from Jo’s pack took the Royal to their territory. That shimmer is how they travel.” Damien said.

“They belong to Jo, I saw one of the same wolves today that I saw in the leader of the raid before we left for the gathering.” Makai remembered.

“Damn it! What do I do with this?” Rex looked at the ground.

“We go after him, brother.” Kit walked up beside Rex and put his arm around his shoulders.

“You and me? We need more than that I’m afraid. This is Jo we are talking about. If you, Makai, Damien, and I go, we will be at a disadvantage.” Rex frowned.

“Is he serious, Kit? I should kick your ass to remind you of who I am?” Came a voice from behind him.

“Rixa! Forgive me.” Rex bowed out of respect eyes on the ground. Hearing the group of them laughing, Rex looked up, not amused, but smiled nonetheless.

“Your help will be needed. Makai and Damien were the last to see the wolves before a red smoke amplified the shimmer they transported with making it impossible to know where they went to. We have a basic direction, and Damien’s scouts to lead a search party.” Rex said.

“The Council would never risk one of their wolves to aid in our search, so who then?” Kit asked.

“We have the muscle and brains to do this on our own.” Makai said.

“True. Would the Council release us to do this? I’ll bet if we die out there, will we be heroes who died in the defense of the Council?” Rixa huffed.

“No, you are right, the fewer that know about our intentions the better. I don’t count on the other packs being too keen on disobeying the Council. We will likely be on our own.” Kit sighed.

“First, we go back to where they shimmered out at. It’s the vanishing point and the start of it all.” Rex ordered.

“We obviously can’t all leave at once, so I’ll be the last one out. I will give you the sign when to leave. Meet at the vanishing point.” Kit observed.

“Good idea. Don’t link unless necessary.” I’ll go now. See you on the filp side!" Rex walked off.
