Chapter 12

Chapter 12

We stayed in the hospital all night while watching Darius wake up. I didn't sleep much so my head hurt that morning. It was about a few minutes before Darius woke up and immediately called the doctor to see how he was doing fine. I told them I was going out of the hospital to drink coffee and eat. As soon as I left the hospital I immediately saw the small and simple coffee shop to other side of sidewalk. I had to look left and right of the road before crossing until I got to the coffee shop.

I took a deep breath and there was smoke coming out of my mouth, it was cold and the dew was thick that morning. When I entered the coffee shop there was no customer but you could smell of the coffee inside and various pastries on display counter. The young man smiled at me when I entered.

“Good morning ma’am,” he greeted at me.

He was wearing a black polo shirt with black pants and green apron with a drawing of white mugs in the center. I approached the counter and looked up at their menu, many were written names on menus but I only wanted one drink in this cold morning.

“One large vanilla milky iced coffee and two slices of banana bread for dine-in. Two honey chamomile tea and two muffins for take-out.” I said my order.

After I gave the order and my payment went straight to the seat near the coffee shop window. I still feel dizzy and hungry at the same time. I pray that my order will be given immediately so that I can eat. I didn't even have a few minutes to wait there when the familiar car stopped by the coffee shop until Reginald got out from the driver's seat. I didn't know but he was automatically looked in my direction and our eyes were met. He looked at my eyes for a moment and then he look away. I felt a strange speed in my heartbeat and couldn't even explain the feeling in my stomach too.

I figured out where he was going until he went straight to the coffee shop and went in there where am I right now. I stooped to ignore him but I felt he was looking in my direction and I just heard the young man greeted him good morning. It was only seconds before I could see him go in my direction and sit in front of me where I was.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“You should greet me than asking me that question,” he said.

He sounded arrogant again.

“Good morning Ms. LeStrange,” he added.

I bit my lower lips when I realized something from myself, I haven't been bathing or even washing myself this morning, I know I have a sleepless face and I feel like my face look stress. I had some Band-Aid on my face because of a wound I had in a broken vase last night. Why should I be ashamed of him?

I was surprised when he put his hand on my face, his thumbs up to make me lose my grip on my lip and rub it. I could not hide my shock at what he did, there was the electric current flowing through my skin as he every time touched me and the strange speed of my heartbeat.

“Don’t do that when I’m around,” he said.

“Here’s your order ma’am and sir.”

I moved a little to get his hand out of my face when the young man came to put our order on the table and Reginald fixed down as his trench coat black. I also noticed that he seemed to love the dark colors of the dress but he still appeared handsome no matter what he wore. He had a cup of crème espresso and vegetable salad. The young man left us and I immediately drank my iced coffee while still looking at him. He started sipping his coffee too.

“Where you got your wounds?” He look serious now about my wounds from my face.

“Accidents happened last night at the mansion, I’m sorry.”

Am I imagining or I see correctly how his jawline tighten and his left fist form a ball.

“We will check again the security of the premises. We will talk this too, to the police when we go back to the mansion later.”

“Be careful next time,” he said.

I didn't eat very well so I order to the young man to wrapped my banana bread and told him that I was going back to the hospital, I didn't say why. When I got back to the hospital they were able to talk to Darius but he still had to watch and stay in the hospital for a few days. I gave the couple what I had brought for them because I knew they were still not eating and resting properly. I also told them that I would watch over Darius first and go back to the mansion to rest. I also ordered them to tell the police about the incidents last night.

They do not insist anything and they leave immediately.

“I’m sorry,” I heard Darius whispered when I walk toward his bed when I entered to his room.

“I’m fine now, Darius, you need to rest and nobody wishes to happened that last night.”

He slowly shake his head, “no, it’s my fault, I have to watch over you properly, if didn't wake up right away might something bad happen to you last night.”

I notice that the way he talked it seems like theirs a meaning on it.

“Do you know what is going on?”

He look at me straight into my eyes.

“I feel like something strange happening in this town since I arrived here, do you know anything?”

I could see in his eyes that he had something to say but that he was holding it.

“Darius,” I called him again, “do you know anything?”

“I know anything but I think I’m not in the position to say anything.”
