Wonderings: Guard
[Terrence]
“How dare she? She locked an innocent woman in this room. We have to get her out of here.” Aira said. I looked at the door frame and it looked a bit old and brittle. I thought that it was possible for me to just break the wood around the lock. I reached into my pocket and felt my car keys. I remembered that I could take my actual keys off the fob and I could use it to carve on the wood around the lock. I was about to do that when we heard a door knob being fumbled with.
Aira and I both looked back and realized it was coming from room 407. Thinking that it could be Natalia’s accomplice, Aira and I ran towards the fire exit and we hid there. The fire exit door was just in front of the room where Amelia was. A guy walks in front of Amelia’s door and just stands there. He looked like a bad guy and he was even drunk. It looked like he was guarding the room.

[Terrence] “We need to leave for now.” I whispered to Aira. She nodded and we slowly made our way down to the lobby and out of the door. We ran as quick as we could back to my car and we let out a sigh of relief when we knew we were in the clear. “That was a close one.” Aira said. I nodded and agreed with her. We almost got found out by that guy. It would’ve been bad if we got caught trying to bust Amelia out of there. “Why can’t we just go in there and get Amelia out?” I said out of frustration. I slammed my fist on the steering wheel. I just want her to be safe. Although I might not know much about pregnancy but I know that she needs to be living life peacefully and not be subjected to this kind of stress.

[Terrence] “If you think about it, someone’s helping Natalia do all of this. From what I know, Natalia doesn’t have a job. It’s impossible for her to do all of this on her own. Someone’s backing her and it’s someone that has a very big influence. It’s not just someone we can easily deal with.” Aira said. Now that I think about it, she’s right. Someone is helping her so even if we manage to get Amelia out and throw Natalia in prison, there’s no telling what this person could do. He could easily take Natalia out and that would be even more dangerous. “For now, let’s go back and tell Kael what we found. It’s better for him to know this stuff now than let him find out about it later on.” I said. Aira nodded and I started the car. [Kael] As soon as Natalia walked through the doors of my office, I immediately put some space between us. She came over to hug me but I put my hand up to stop her from coming closer. She looked shocked at my actions and her once smiling face suddenly became grim. The transition between her smiling face and frowning face was so fast, it scared me a little. “What’s wrong Kael?” She asked in a cutesy way, not that it was cute. It was annoying and scary at the same time. I know she wasn’t like that before and seeing her act the way she is now, I can tell she wasn’t thinking straight. Before she came into the office, I texted Terrence and told him that Natalia was here. He replied by saying to keep her occupied for as long as possible. [Kael] “Nothing, I’ve just been really busy.” I answered her question. She smiled at me and walked closer to my desk. I quickly pulled back all the documents on my table so she wouldn’t be able to see anything. When I did that, she had a weird grin on her face, it was as if I was looking at a psycho. I could tell she wasn’t feeling good, the dark circles under her eyes were a dead giveaway. “Did I make you busy? I’m so sorry, my love.” She said while speaking in almost like a baby tone. It was as if she was talking to a baby and not a full grown adult. It was disgusting, to say the least. I really didn’t want her to touch me but if I let her do that, she’d think that I’m warming up to her and she’ll try to stay here longer and that would give Terrence enough time to investigate. [Kael] She may be allowed to touch me but I’m sure that I don’t want to touch her. I heard her giggling as she was hugging me. “I knew it! I knew you still cared about me! I missed you so much Kael. I thought about you all the time when I was in London. I couldn’t get you out of my mind. I could still remember the warmth of your touch. The softness of your hair and your scent, all of that remained with me as I stayed abroad. You have no idea how much I missed you.” She said. I had to fight off the urge of pushing her away. It almost seemed natural to her to just lie about everything. I didn’t know how someone like her doesn’t have a conscience. [Kael] “What brings you here, Natalia?” I asked her. She still had her arms around my neck and her head to my chest. She was silent for a moment but then I heard her giggling again. “I knew you’d change your mind eventually. I came here to see you. I wondered if you were free, maybe we could have lunch together like we used to.” She said. She pulled away slightly and I could see her face. Something wasn’t right with her, I could tell since it felt like I was looking at a different person. I kept wondering, where did it go wrong with Natalia? Why did we end up like this? I knew that it was her fault but am I the one to blame for this as well?

[Kael] “I don’t have time to eat lunch outside the office today. I’m a bit busy but if you want, we can eat here in my office.” I said. I tried to sound and act nice but my body just wouldn’t cooperate. I hated this woman in front of me. I wanted her out of my sight and I want Amelia back but I can’t aggravate her right now. She still has a trump card against me. Natalia started squealing and jumping around telling me she would love to have lunch with me here in my office. I tried to think about what else I could do to make her stay here longer. I called my assistant through the intercom and I told her to buy us lunch. [Kael] “Noted, sir. I’ll get the food and serve it to you during lunch.” My assistant said. I thanked her and I looked back at Natalia who was smiling from ear-to-ear. I broke away from her arms for a second so I could talk to my assistant, she just stood there in front of my desk while looking at me intently. After the call, she quickly rushed to me and hugged me once more. “You still remember my favorites! I knew it! I just knew that I was still the one in your heart!” She said over and over again.
