Fuck You, Captain.

Japheth

“What do you mean you found a better candidate? You already gave me this mission!” I yelled out in sheer frustration but the captain didn't budge one bit.

“Hand over the damn files, Jared. You know better than to give me a headache this fine morning.” He replied, stretching out his hand toward me and I ran my hand through my hair, finally understanding that the universe wasn't my best friend.

I took out the documents from my bag and threw them on the table instead of handing them to him, and the way the veins in his forehead bulged, I knew he wasn't impressed. But I didn't care anymore. He can go fuck himself.

He turned away from me with a dismissive wave, and I turned around, ready to walk away, but for reasons unknown to me, my legs wouldn't move. Was I disappointed? Angry? Frustrated?

Hell yeah.

Why do they all love to treat me like shit? Was I such a pushover? Someone they could use whenever they pleased and discard like a useless piece of shit?

I've had enough.

With that thought, I turned toward the captain, and his eyes met mine, his expression questioning why I hadn't left his office yet. Without thinking, I said something I wouldn't have dared to say in my entire life.

“Fuck you, captain.” I spat in anger and his eyes widened in shock, like he wasn't expecting those words from me. Then his expression immediately contorted into anger and he shot up from his seat like it was burning his butt.

“How dare you—”

His words were cut short when an officer barged into the office like he was being chased and I immediately got into a defensive position, looking out for any attacker. But to my surprise, there was none.

“I can't do it!” He yelled as he barged into the office and I straightened up, my brows raised in confusion and amusement.

“What do you mean you can't do it? You're the only person who can do this perfectly!” Captain retorted, his face red with anger as he slammed his palm on the table, and the officer shook his head in terror.

“You can fire me, Captain! But there's no way I'm going after the son of Don Martinez!” He yelled and it finally dawned on me that this was the candidate who was “supposedly” perfect for this job.

“What's so bad about his son?” I chirped in before the captain could speak and the officer turned to look at me like I had two horns on my head.

“Everyone knows how ruthless the Martinez’ are. They have no mercy on people and they kill like it's a normal daily activity!” He blurted before turning to look at the captain. “I only agreed to take this mission because I thought the suspect was a mediocre person. Not Aaron Martinez!” He yelled with pure horror written all over his face.

I stood by the side with a small smile on my face, watching the whole drama unfold like a high school play. Perfect candidate, my ass. Such a scaredy cat wasn't even fit to be a police officer.

Before the captain could try to counter his words, he dropped his badge on the desk, and without hesitation, he ran out of the office the same way he came in. Silence reigned for a moment and my lips curved into a small smile as I clutched my bag tightly.

“I'll take my leave now, captain,” I muttered and turned around but just as I expected, he called out to me, causing me to halt in my tracks.

“Jared, I was wrong. You are the only person worthy and perfect enough to take on this mission. How could I be so blind?” He muttered, his voice suddenly calm and smooth as silk, causing me to nearly let out a scoff of amusement.

“Oh no, captain,” I replied, turning to look at him with a solemn look on my face. “I already left the documents with you and you already have a perfect candidate for the job. What could a mere constable like me do?” I asked and an expression of panic formed on his face as he grabbed the documents before making his way to my side.

“Don't mind my dumb words, Jared. I just wanted to test you and see? You passed! This job was originally meant for you. No one else can do it as good as you—”

“You mean no one is as naive as I to take on the mission, right?” I interrupted him, and he froze, his left eye twitching in annoyance, but he quickly covered it up with a smile.

“Jared, the benefits that come with taking on this mission aren't something that you should pass over so easily. Why don't you give it a second thought?” He asked, placing his hand on my shoulder and I let out a scoff of disbelief.

“What benefits? Are they worth endangering my life?”

I was gonna take the mission without him trying to sugarcoat me, but if there were indeed benefits that came apart from getting promoted, it wouldn't hurt to play hard-to-get for now.

“Jared,” He sucked in a sharp breath and took out another document from the drawers of his desk before handing it to me. “Take a look at that.”

With my brows raised, I scanned the documents in front of me, and for a moment, I was confused. Until I finally registered what it meant.

“You're not going on any mediocre mission. You're leaving this small city and moving to California. I'm assuming you already know this.” He explained and I blinked in confusion. I didn't realize that I had to leave Denver for California.

I've never left this city before… And the adrenaline rush that suddenly coursed through me made me giddy with excitement.

“You'll be taking on a new identity. Everything you own from now on will be taken care of by the police department. We'll have eyes watching you over there so you won't be alone. You'll have a new life, Jared. And not a life of suffering.” Captain explained softly while my eyes were still glued to the paper I was clutching tightly.

A new identity. A new profession. A new house. A new car. A new city. It felt like I was starting my life over again.

“But, captain—”

“Did I mention you'll be given a million dollars for this mission?” He interrupted and I choked on air instantly, my eyes widening at his words.

  • Would You Die For Me?   Why Did You Leave?

JaphethI groaned as my eyes fluttered open and it was like the ceiling rushed over my head. That was when I realized I was on a stretcher and the nurses were wheeling me into the emergency room.“Male, late twenties, head injury, was involved in a critical car accident.” A nurse running beside me said to the doctor as they transferred me to a bed and I almost corrected her about my age.I was in my mid-thirties, I thought as I rolled my eyes, but that only gave me a bigger headache that had me groaning in pain.I could barely hear anything else they said as my ears rang, pain shooting through me as a syringe was inserted in my wrist. At some point, I fell unconscious, unable to withstand the bright light and pain that nearly numbed me. But when I woke up, I felt numb, like I didn't just get involved in an accident. There was a nurse in the room and then I noticed I was now in a ward, not the emergency room.“Hi…” I called out, my voice hoarse and she turned to me, her face brightenin

  • Would You Die For Me?   Regret.

Aaron“I'll probably regret this tomorrow.”Japheth's words echoed over and over again in my head as I sped down the road. Maybe I had taken it too far. Maybe I was rushing things. Maybe I should have given him time to understand what was truly going on.But I just couldn't sit with the fact that he could regret doing anything with me. I didn't want him to hate me. To look at me and feel regret. I shouldn't have made that stupid bet anyway. And now I left him. Without thinking of how he would feel about that.I had nowhere to go, I could return home so I made my way to San's house, praying to heaven that he wasn't asleep yet. The car finally came to a stop in front of his house, and I was out in a second as I rushed to the door.“San!” I called out, knocking harshly but there was no answer. I pushed the door open, surprised to see that he hadn't locked it and I made a mental note to remind him as I walked inside the house.Just then, the door of his room opened, and San stepped out wi

  • Would You Die For Me?   Is This Right?

Japheth Aaron ran his finger up and down my spine, earning a whimper of pleasure mixed with pain as I kept my face buried in the pillow. I was so hard that it hurt so bad. This was not how I had planned for tonight to be, nor did I actually expect him to win the bet.I didn't need any reality check, I was definitely into men. Why else would I get hard while watching that movie? What made it worse was that I kept seeing myself and Aaron as the main characters. Which made no sense because—Well, nothing made sense anymore. Not after meeting him.“Do you want me to help you out?” He asked, his voice taunting like he knew this would be the result. He planned this. How cunning.“Fuck, yes, please,” I whispered, fisting the sheets tightly.Maybe I never really knew who I was. Which could explain why I've never been in a relationship. Not that women were never attractive. Just that something was missing.I felt Aaron move off me and walk away from the bed, making my brows knit in confusion

  • Would You Die For Me?   The Bet.

Aaron“What can you possibly do to me apart from killing me, Aaron?” Japheth asked in amusement and my smirk widened even more as I got up, heading for the TV.“Let's do this. I'll let you go home if you win a bet. If you don't, you'll let me do whatever I want and you'll get to sleep here tonight.” I stated, grabbing the remote and he crossed his arms around his chest.“And if I win?”“You go home. And I'll let you do whatever you want.” I replied, turning to him. “Think wisely before you act, Japheth. You can't back out once you're in. Do we have a deal?”“Deal.” He said almost immediately and I snickered before sitting beside him.“Alright. Here's the bet. I'll put on a movie, and you must never, I mean never, get turned on.” I muttered and he froze, turning to me with wide eyes. “You heard me right. If you get turned on, even the slightest bit, I win. You'll stay here for the night and I get to do whatever I want with you.”“Hold the fuck up, with me? You didn't say that earlier!”

  • Would You Die For Me?   Because You Love Me.

Aaron“I'll kill you.”Japheth stiffened, his eyes widening in shock as he inched away from me but I held him back before he could move away.“I was joking, professor,” I muttered hurriedly, a look of panic on my face and he let out a nervous laugh.I couldn't help but hate how tonight had turned out. I feared this new information would make him stay away from me and just when I was beginning to get him to get used to my presence, he had to find out about my shady lifestyle.“I was joking too…” Japheth muttered, a frown on his face. “I mean, you wouldn't kill me because I know what you do, right? I'm just a harmless professor.” He added, and I stared at him for a while.Honestly, it only made sense to suspect him especially since I knew he saw what was under this bed. But I already did my background check on him, and he was seemingly the most harmless and innocent person I've ever set my eyes on.So even if he was lying to me, I'd be willing to turn a blind eye. Because he belonged to

  • Would You Die For Me?   Shady Business.

Japheth “Japheth?” Aaron's voice called out again and I silently scrambled up to my feet before pushing the bed back down. I straightened the sheets so it wouldn't look like I touched anything, straightened my sweater as well, and hurried to what looked like the bathroom. As soon as I shut the door, I heard the door to his room open and he stepped in.“Calm down, Japheth,” I whispered to myself as I washed my hands. “It's nothing that you haven't seen before. It's just drugs. Those are just guns and explosives. He can't hurt me. He's obsessed with me.”A knock on the bathroom startled me and I sucked in a sharp breath before pulling the door open, a look of annoyance on my face.“Took you long enough. Who delays their date for over thirty minutes?” I asked as I pushed past him and he stared at me with suspicion.“I called you multiple times but you didn't respond. What were you doing in there?” He asked, his eyes narrowed and I raised a brow at him, surprised at how natural I was act
