FAZER LOGINAyla’s POV
“Come out now” He growled. My breath stutters as I try to come up with something, a lie or anything— but my mind blanks. I push the door open slowly, and come out of the closet, the air feels heavy and charged with his scent and rage. I glance at the exit, then back at him before a tiny smile tugs at my lips. “Don’t” He tilts his head at me. But I run – and in the next second, I’m airborne, his speed is unreal as he catches me easily and throws me over his shoulder as if I weigh nothing. “Put me down!” I scream, kicking my feet against him as my fist pounds on his back. but his hold only tightens around my waist. We arrived at a secluded clearing, surrounded by stone pillars and a few people who were gathered around. I spot Kiara among them, she looks different this time, draped in a flowing white robe trimmed with gold. Alpha Kael, as I’ve picked from other wolves, sets me down on a flat stone… the hard surface burns cold against my skin. I try to rise, but Kiara steps forward, holding a round object wrapped in dark cloth. She lifts a hand and murmured something under her breath. I freeze. Not just freeze, my body refuses to move and my limbs are glued to the stone. “What’s going on?” My voice cracks. No one answers, not even a glance. “I’m sorry, alright? I’m sorry— so please, just release me!” I shout, my voice breaking. Alpha Kael doesn’t look at me, his jaw only tightens as he glides the blade along a smooth stone. “Please don’t kill me, I’m not the one you’re looking for, I swear.” My vision blurs as hot tears sting my eyes – my chest feels like it’s collapsing, but I bite my tongue and lift my gaze to the sky. goddess please don’t let them do this to me. I beg you. Alpha Kael stalks towards me, like a predator to prey. “No—no—“ I shake my head rigorously, breath trembling. “I’m sorry” he only says as he brings the blade to my neck. The moment I feel the cold blade touch my skin, Alpha Kael stumbles back, his eyes shut and he falls to his knees, the blade slipping from his hand and clattering to the ground. He holds his chest as his mouth curls, Kiara runs to him. “Alpha, is all well?” He mouths something to her and her eyes widen in shock. A man runs to our midst and speaks to Kael. I try to listen to what he’s saying but the the only word I can make out is “rejected” Kael turns to me, his eyes darkens and he mutters to the betas by his side. “Take her to my room” He doesn’t take his eyes off me as he commands. They both look at each other for a second till he snaps again, “Take —her —to —my—room. Now!” Two of the muscular men walk towards me and both grab my arm. My legs scrap the dirt as they drag me along the pathway. By the time I’m back to Kael’s room, my whole body is on fire and my head throbbed. My body is flat against the floor and I want to move but not an ounce of strength is in my limbs. The door creaks open and Alpha Kael steps in, he turns towards me and crouches to my position. My jaw clenches as he brings up an arm to trace my cheek. My head tilted away from his burning touch. “What are you?” He whispers. My eyes widens and my muscles twitch and I know If I wasn’t so weak right now, I would have head butted him so hard he would want to kill me this time. “What do you mean what am I?” My words sliced through the air. “You stole me from school, to use me for your stupid sacrifice and now you’re asking me questions?” The words spill out of me before I can process it. “Fuck you!” Kael’s brows are now knitted together as he rubs his chin. After a minute of staring at me, he gets to his feet. “Hungry?” My stomach decided to betray me at that moment by growling loud. “No, I don’t want your poison!” He shakes his head and leaves the room. After some minutes, he returns with a tray of food and drops it on the table. “Kiara would bring you clothes, eat and take a shower” he says, with a low and smooth voice. The moment he leaves the room, my stomach rumbles at the sight of the steak on the table. After much hesitation, I began eating the food. “There’s more than enough if you want.” She chuckles as she glides into the room with some folded clothes. I don’t say a word, I just remain where I am, stroking my mother’s ring on my fingers. “What do you know about that ring?” Kiara questions. She had dropped the clothes and now her hands are on her hips. I turn to face her, my eyes narrowed as I reply to her “What do you mean? It’s just a ring” I shrug. “No darling” She moves closer to me and picks my hand up. I wanted to stop her but I was curious about what she had to say. I still haven’t mentioned the fact that she had been terrorizing me in my sleep. She slips her shirt off a bit and shows me a mark on her shoulder, the same mark inscribed in my ring. “I bet you’ve started seeing the signs already” She releases my arm and covers the mark on her shoulder. “I hope you’re prepared,” Kiara says before stepping out.Kael’s POVMoren stands up, the old fucker is not going to rest until Ayla is out of this pack. He passes me a knowing look before bowing.“We’re sorry for this sudden meeting, Alpha. Firstly, we want to thank you for your leadership in this pack.”The rest of the elders chorused and bowed. I stayed silent, watching them. They only use that tone when they’re about to ask for a head on a silver platter.“As for today’s meeting, it’s regarding the warrior trial.” He glances at some others and some gave him curt nods. Then he continued. “But beyond the trials, the safety of this pack is at stake. There are rumors spreading to other wolf territories that we are harboring a witch. They say a dark presence is living among us, and it’s making the neighboring packs and we in this pack restless.”I leaned back, my hands clenching the armrests. I knew exactly where this was going. They didn't mention Ayla’s name, but they didn’t have to. Every eye in the room was practically screaming it.“We s
Ayla’s POV.The sun hadn’t even fully cleared the horizon when we woke up, but the heat was already starting to crawl under my skin. My head was spinning from hunger, and my mouth felt like it was full of dry sand. I looked over at Lydia. She looked terrible. Her eyes were sunken, and she was shivering even though the air was humid. We were exhausted, our bodies burning through energy we didn't have, but we couldn't stay in that cave anymore. If we weren’t bound to a pack under protection, just roaming these place, we’d have been long gone. “Water,” Lydia croaked, her voice barely a whisper. “Ayla, if we don't find water soon, I don’t know what’ll happen to me”I nodded, trying to steady my breathing. “I know. I remember the map I saw back at the pack. There’s a stream not too far from here. It wasn’t the main river, but it’s our best shot.”I closed my eyes for a second, picturing the lines and markings from the map I had studied. I had memorized the layout of this sector, and I kn
Kael’s POV.“The hunt has begun.” Riian’s voice cut through the fog of my mind via the alpha-beta link.I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. I just paced the length of the warrior’s inner chambers, my boots clicking rhythmically against the stone floor. Every few seconds, I run my hands through my hair, gripping the strands until my scalp stung. The silence of the room was deafening, I stared at the map now sitting on my desk— the map I had refused to give her.Maybe I should have just let her have it, a small, traitorous part of me whispered.“You keep treating her like shit,” Agnar growled, his voice a low, vibrating rumble in the back of my skull. My wolf wasn't happy. He hadn't been happy since I pushed her away this morning. She needs to learn, I snapped back, though the conviction in my mental voice was wavering. If she’s going to survive outside these walls—ever—she has to go in blind. The world doesn't give you a guide, Agnar. “The council elders want a meeting with you. Do I approve?
Ayla’s POV.The moment the heavy iron gates slammed shut behind us, most recruits shifted and disappeared into the jungle. It was then it fully hit me that it had begun. The sudden mountain chill hit us hard, the cold air flushing our skin, Lydia’s ears and cheeks crimsoned almost immediately. It was survival of the fittest. “We shouldn’t shift yet,” I told her. “Let’s save our strength.”We pushed into the thick jungle on foot. Every few yards, I carved an ‘X’ into the bark of the trees so we wouldn't lose our way in the dense overgrowth.Suddenly, Lydia stopped. She sniffed the air, her expression sharpening. “I smell something.” She whispers, licking her lips. We crept forward, careful not to snap a single dry twig. Through the ferns, I spotted a large grey hare grazing. Lydia didn't wait. She lunged, shifting mid-air into her wolf form. She missed the hare by an inch, and the animal took off on its long hind legs. Lydia’s wolf immediately chased after it, disappearing into the
Ayla’s POV.“And what will you do if I don’t?” Jax smirked, leaning into my space. I took a deep breath, relaxing my already raging wolf.“You think we’re scared of you?” He tutted, looking back at his friends for approval. “Or your big ass weakling of a wolf.” I snarled, my wolf was begging me to shift. Then it clicked, if I ran out of stamina now, I wouldn’t survive day one in the forest. Calm down maya, it’s just rage-bait.“Please,” I pleaded, lowering my ego even though my wolf wasn’t having it. “Let me pass.”“Never knew she could beg.” One of the guys behind Jax let out a dry chuckle, sending them all into a mocking fit of laughter.“You shouldn’t be here Ayla,” Jax scoffed, his amusement fading. “you’re not even a warrior yet and you’ve started throwing away your luck.” “I left something inside during my cleaning shift.” I lied.“Well, you can pick it up in three days” His eyes darkened. “Assuming you make it out alive.” I didn't flinch. Instead, I folded my arms, matching
Ayla’s POV.“Hell yeah,” Maya muttered, her voice a low vibration in my mind. “I bet they didn’t see that coming.” I could practically feel her tail wagging in victory. We gathered in a tight circle around the trainers. Kael stood at the center, his presence heavy and demanding as usual. As the trainers moved through the crowd to inspect the newly shifted wolves, the atmosphere turned from adrenaline to pure shock. When they reached me, their eyes widened and pupils dilated. I was massive. Even among the warrior class wolves, I knew my size would rival most. I flashed back to a core memory of my father shifting when I was still little, he had looked like a prehistoric beast compared to the others. Now, looking at my own paws, I realized I hadn’t just inherited his strength… I’d inherited his size.“We’ve hidden three sacred items around the mountain,” Kael’s voice cut through the awe, gravelly and cold. “You’ll hunt for survival while searching. It lasts three days, and you'll be pai
Kael’s POV. “Thank you for the words of wisdom, Elder. I’ll see you soon,” I murmured before rising to my feet. No one disobeyed the Elders. Their words had shaped the pack for generations. Even previous Alphas of this pack never defied them. Yet today, an elder’s words felt like chains tightene
Kael’s POV“Why isn’t she healing?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.Kiara didn’t look up from where her hands hovered over Ayla’s chest, sweat beaded at her temples.“She’s blocking me,” she said through clenched teeth. “I’m trying here Kael.”“Then try harder!” Her head snapped up, eye
Ayla’s POVAll I could think about was him—my mate. Every rational thought, every attempt to control my wolf fell apart when he was near. My mind screamed for restraint, but my body had its own urgent need. I tried so hard to keep it in, but my restraint exploded the moment he got near me.Earlier
Ayla’s POV.It’s been two days, forty-eight hours of trying, failing, trying again. And still… nothing.I was stuck.
