CHAPTER 5

ANGEL'S POV

Suddenly, the taxi she was riding in stopped. Maybe it was going to take her to the place she said she was going to? But where exactly is she going? In her house, she had no other company but their steward.

Her whole family lives in Baguio. Angel was the only one who had the courage to get out and run away from the painful reality that her twin, who was always with her, was dead.

❝We're here, ma'am,❞ said the taxi driver as he peered at her through the mirror in front of him.

But Angel was still leaning and crossing her arms in her seat as if she had no intention of leaving because she knew that the only thing waiting for her where she was staying was none other than the sadness she was trying to escape.

Angel closed her eyes and wanted to rest, at least for a moment, but it was as if the world didn't want to allow her when she heard a noise, causing her to open her eyes.

❝Ma'am! Are you okay?❞ The taxi driver asked her with concern.

Angel ignored his question and turned her full attention to the car outside. The stars were beautiful earlier, then the destructive rain came. Even the weather is hard to live with.

Angel silently observed each drop of rain as if it were tears of sadness. In this cold weather caused by the rain, she could not stop herself from hugging herself because not only her body was cold but also her heart was filled with sadness.

❝Just straight,❞ she said.

Angel doesn't know when. Will she still feel it? The warmth caused by happiness seemed to disappear from her life when her twin was gone.

Angel was fed up with the cold weather; her body was looking for warmth. The taxi driver didn't complain anymore, and he immediately followed what she wanted to go straight to but didn't know the destination. While the taxi driver was driving, he looked at her again in the mirror of the taxi in front of him.

Angel noticed that immediately when he looked at her, the way she looked at him, he immediately understood her unspeakable question.

❝Anywhere? Just far away,❞ she said.

Angel just wants to travel, run, and forget the pain caused by the painful events in her life.

❝Your problem seems to be big, ma'am,❞ said the taxi driver.

Angel didn't speak; she just looked at him.

❝Did you and your boyfriend have a fight?❞ this is a gossipy question.

Boyfriend? Angel frowned when the taxi driver asked her. She didn't have anyone with her, and she was alone. Perhaps the taxi driver was referring to the man she only met at the bar; she thought of nothing but that.

Suddenly, that man entered her mind, and then the address he gave her.

This taxi driver stopped when she suddenly saw something here. Angel gave the address given by the man she had just met at the bar.

Maybe it's crazy, but maybe she's not in her right mind. Maybe even if she didn't admit it, the little medicine that stranger gave her was still affecting her mind, but as far as she knew, that stranger gave her drugs and not potions.

Because it was as if that stranger charmed her because, even though he did nothing, he immediately got what he believed to be elusive.

Maybe at this time she has nothing to worry about, anyone? As long as she will not be judged, she wants to sympathise with this misfortune with her aching heart.

❝Take me to that address,❞ she ordered.

Angel didn't know where she was going, as if there was nowhere else to go in her life, as if she was completely lost and not on the right path to her former quiet life.

❝And besides, he's not my boyfriend; I don't even know him.❞ she let him know.

Angel didn't know that man; the only thing she knew about him was his name—Daem.

❝I thought it was your boyfriend and his concern about you.❞ this was starring at the strange man earlier in the bar.

Angel didn't realise that she smiled when the taxi driver mentioned the strange man. Perhaps she also saw and felt the strange man's thoughtfulness for real.

It's a pity that he's handsome and kind, but I'm not looking for someone to love.

I'm just looking for sympathy for the problem.

I'm just looking for someone to lean on for a while.

That's all I need.

❝Too bad,❞ she didn't realise that she had said the word in her head.

Her eyes widened when she realised the word that came out of her lips, and because she couldn't do anything else, she just closed her eyes because she was ashamed of the word that came out of her lips.

Maybe what does it think? Angel caught the mischievous smile of the taxi driver, so she just tried to avoid him.

Angel turned her attention in another direction, focusing her attention on the rain that was slowing down.

❝Which one is it? Ma'am,❞ is a gossipy question.

Angel turned to him and smiled, clearly showing her composure.

❝It's a shame if I can't pay you, right? ❞ she threatened here.

It suddenly became quiet and just drove, as if it got her cue to keep quiet because her ears could hear his interference.

❝We're here, ma'am,❞ said the taxi driver.

So Angel looked around; even though it was a little dark, it was still a little bright because there was the moon that served as a light in the dark.

Is he making fun of me? She raised an eyebrow as she realised that the taxi driver had sent her back.

Where did they come from? Angel immediately turned to the other window, and she was not wrong in her suspicion because what she saw in the other window was where she was staying.

❝Are you fooling me? This one is where I'm staying,❞ she complained here.

The taxi driver immediately turned to her, holding onto his head as he sat down.

❝You said at first to go straight, so I went straight, and I followed you.❞ this defence.

❝Then you gave me an address, and that address is this condominium that's right in front of your house.❞ this explanation caused her to be quiet.

Angel didn't speak any more; she immediately got out of the taxi and handed the taxi driver her payment for their long trip, but she had just returned. She immediately confronted the condominium at the address that happened to be just opposite where she was staying.

Who would have thought?

So near, yet so far.
