“ Family dinner is tonight. I won't accept excuses…so make sure you're there.” Her firm statement was the last thing Ciara said before exiting the company.

Grayson gave no response or reaction. Minutes had passed into hours, yet he was still standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the city that stretched beneath him, but this time he was on a call.

His reflection stared back at him, calm and untouched, phone pressed against his ear.

The gates were already open when Grayson's car rolled in. Too open. Too exposed. Cars lined the driveway, black, silver, unfamiliar.Cameras flashing everywhere. Different voices shouting different questions.Even before stepping out, he could hear them.~ “ Ma'am, is it true he was here last night?” ~ “ Mrs. Beaumont, did you have any personal dealings with Mr. Hudson?”~ “ Do you think his death is connected to your family?” Another reporter shouted the question.Grayson’s jaw tightened, and he saw his father stepped forward just then.“ We have nothing to say. We've told the police everything we know.” Mr. Blake gently answered. But behind them all was Ben, looking so calm and composed.“ Wait for me in the car.” He told Tessa before stepping out.The moment he stepped out, attention redirected instantly, acknowledging his presence, but the paved way was cleared without being

  • Wrong From the Start    Chapter 36: Death announcement

    | TWO HOURS BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT |Tessa groaned softly as she turned over on the bed, fluttering her eyes open to the morning when that familiar sharp pain hit her again, below her belly. She sucked in her breath between her teeth, pulled herself up, rubbed her lower belly with her brows pulled together.“ Is it here already?” She wondered, her face drawn tight before pulling herself up and dragging her feet to the bathroom where she confirmed her suspicion. It was indeed that time of the month. She groaned bitterly. “ Why… why today?” It doesn't feel nice especially having to go to work and all the scheduled meetings. She'd have preferred it to come during the weekend, but of course, this thing doesn't know a thing about right timing. With a quiet sigh, she pulled off her nightware to take her bath, moving carefully like any sudden motion might make it worse. Downstairs, in

“ I need to check on my wife,” Blake muttered to one of the guests, smiling politely before heading for the stairs. “ I hope she's okay, cause she needs to contact Grayson. I don't think he's still at this party.” He mumbled to himself, glanced around briefly again to see if he could get a sight of him. But he only saw Tyler, talking to one of the female guests. He sighed and kept walking upstairs. Looking at the room door ahead of him, he kept walking casually………. “ Blake.” A familiar voice called from behind just as he almost reached the door. His brows arched up in surprise upon seeing who it was. “ Mr. Hudson.” He grinned as he called, turning away from the door and approaching the man. “ Good evening.” The man in his late fifties greeted. “ Evening. It's so unexpected to see you here.” “ I know right?” He grinned as

With his grip firm around her wrist, Grayson pulled Tessa along with him away from the party, out of the environment, without informing anyone or bidding the guests goodbye, not even their parents. They left the house. The silence between them back home was heavy, tensed with a thick tension that stretched on a thin line, ready to snap at any time. But even beneath that tension, clarity eased Tessa's mind. Even though she couldn't place a name to what this is between her and Grayson, she at least could tell now, what her stand is with Tyler. ************ Back at the party, Ciara moved from one guest to another, exchanging calculated conversations and smiles that hold their own meaning. Making sure the night was going as planned, but she couldn't ignore the chills that ran down her spine. She turned back briefly and met with the pairs of eyes she doesn't want

  • Wrong From the Start    Chapter 33: Kiss tension

The night was becoming increasingly exhausting as he continued to entertain and exchange pleasantries with the guests, especially the investors, keeping him busy. But even with the conversations that didn't seem to be ending, his eyes kept moving around to see if he'd catch a glimpse of her. Tyler was the first person he saw, but he was alone—no sign of Tessa. ‘ Has she gone home?’ Grayson wondered, making up his mind to round the whole conversation up when he saw Laura storming out of a room. Her face was red with anger, and she looked so frustrated that he could instantly tell something was wrong. He excused himself from the guest and walked towards the room she had stormed out of. Opening the door, something stopped in him the moment he saw her sobbing profusely. His lips parted, his eyes stilled on her, his fingers twitched as he watched her shoulders shaking

    | BACK TO PRESENT |“ You too kissed?”Tessa turned sharply to where the voice had come from, chills racing down her veins rooting her to the spot. Her chest tightened, a cold knot formed in her stomach as her heart rate picked up. “ Mum.” The word slipped out of her lips as she stared with widened eyes, tears still streaking down her cheeks. She wanted to disappear, to vanish into the floor.“ What exactly did I just hear?” Laura demanded, her voice low, edged with anger. Her sharp eyes glinted with fury as she stepped forward, heels clicking against the polished floor. The room suddenly felt smaller around Tessa. Her throat ached as if it were closing on itself. Every heartbeat screamed panic and regret.Tyler straightened awkwardly, he opened his mouth to speak, but she didn't give him a chance.“ I need to speak to my daughter, alone.” She said with a hardened voice, not sparing Tyler a glance. He didn't ne
