Third person's POV…

The cold brass of the doorknob bit into Darren’s palm, but he couldn’t move. He stood frozen by the slightly ajar door, every breath caught in his chest as the words from within wrapped around him like a noose.

Inside, Vito’s voice was still low, gravelly, and unaware of the silent audience just outside.

“You know I wanted to let him do his own things, give him room to grow,” Vito said into the phone. “But seeing as he’s turning now, I think it’s high time I stepped in. I can’t lay a finger on my own son. The heir to my rival's empire… and mine too.”

Darren didn't think any of that was true.

“He's refused to take over the ruins left by Alexandro. I thought he would come around and…”

“Exactly” he replied the person on the other end. “And I wouldn't lay a hand on my son”

Son.

His son?

Darren’s grip on the doorknob slackened as his knees weakened. A wave of nausea and disbelief surged through him. It couldn’t be true. Vito? His father? It had to be a trick. Some elabo

Alina's POV…The rest of the day passed in a quiet haze. I was still in Darren's room, even though I didn't feel like staying anymore. I wanted to leave and go to my room. The bracelet still clutched in my palm like it was the only thing keeping me upright. Every time I looked at it, my chest tightened until breathing felt like work.He remembered me.And yet… he had chosen to act like he didn’t.I was still in his clothes, his scent wrapped around me like a phantom embrace, when my phone began to ring on the bedside table. I wiped my face quickly, forcing myself to sound normal before I answered.“Miriam?”“Lina!” Her voice was bright, almost bubbly. “Guess where I am?”I frowned. “Where?” I wasn't good at guessing games.“At Heathrow Airport. In London!”For a second, I just sat there, stunned. “Wait… what? You’re here? You’re in London?”“Yes! I just landed. I thought I’d surprise you.”A smile tugged at my lips before I could stop it. “Miriam, you actually came?” My voice cracked

Alina’s POV…Warmth. Not just from the sunlight peeking through the curtains, but from the man lying beside me. My bare skin tingled under the sheet, his arm still loosely draped around my waist as if holding me even in sleep.I didn’t move. I didn’t want to. Not yet.Last night kept replaying in my mind in fragments. The heat of his touch, the roughness in his kisses, the sound of my name falling from his lips when he lost control. There had been no secrets between us, no hesitation, just raw, honest desire.I turned slowly, just enough to see his face. Darren. His jaw was relaxed, a shadow of a stubble now softening his usually sharp features. His lashes were long, and the way his chest rose and fell with each breath gave me a strange kind of peace. He looked like a man at rest, not the cold CEO, not the stranger I was forced to marry… but someone real.My husband. My heart fluttered at the thought.Last night hadn’t solved everything. It hadn't erased the past or answered all my qu

Darren rested his head on my shoulder, the weight of him surprisingly comforting. The quiet between us was not awkward, it was warm, like the hush that came after a storm, heavy with unspoken words but no longer filled with fear. The steady rhythm of his breathing brushed against my skin, and my fingers instinctively moved to his hair, threading through the soft strands like it was the most natural thing in the world.I didn't know how long we sat like that, two broken people finding solace in a silence louder than any apology. The room was dim, lit only by the faint glow from the moon outside the window. It bathed us in silver, casting shadows that danced across his face. Then, he turned. His head lifted slowly from my shoulder, and for a moment, he just looked at me. No smile. No smirk. Just… looked. Like he was searching for something behind my eyes."You don't have to stay, Alina," he said, voice low, barely more than a whisper. "You don’t owe me anything”My heart clenched at the

Alina’s POV…Pregnant. The word echoed in my mind like a whisper refusing to fade. I sat still on the edge of the bed, one hand resting over my belly, my heart racing wildly. How? I mean, I knew how, but...how, in the midst of all this chaos, had something so sacred, so delicate, found space to grow inside me?I didn't know how to feel. I had checked that night, the day Stephanie suggested I did and I checked three times just to be sure. I wasn't still certain, so I decided to confirm from the hospital… and it was still positive.A part of me was thrilled, my body was nurturing life. I was going to be a mother. Me. A mother. But then came the wave of doubt, thick and heavy. How was I supposed to take care of a child? With everything happening around me? With Darren unsure, distant...with Aria lingering like a shadow?I blinked rapidly as my throat tightened. My own mother hadn’t exactly set the best example. She wasn’t the typical and ideal mother. She had been cold, absent, unreachab

  • Wrong bride to the right husband    Chapter 38(Trouble)

Third person's POV...In a sleek, dimly lit lounge nestled in the heart of the city, the air hung heavy with the scent of cigars and aged scotch. A mellow jazz tune played in the background, blending with the low murmur of private conversations scattered across the room. A circular booth tucked into the far corner offered just enough privacy for shadows to dance freely over secrets.Aria sat with her legs crossed, one perfectly manicured finger tapping rhythmically on the table. Her crimson lips were pressed into a straight line, and her eyes…icy, sharp, unfeeling, pierced through the dimness like blades.Across from her sat two men in identical black suits. The man on the right had a scar slashing through his left eyebrow, and the other, younger, with a twitch in his jaw that suggested nerves or suppressed frustration. A manilla folder lay between them, thick and bulging with evidence.“We’ve been able to gather some financial records,” the man with the scar began. His voice was stea
