Todd's POV:

The contract was done. Her signature on that old wolf document felt like an unseen brand tying our fates together, at least for now. My wolf, which had been restless, finally quieted inside me as it sensed the bond. It was faint but real.

I looked at her-Bella, my so-called human contract mate. She seemed shocked and confused, trying to make sense of this sudden, almost ridiculous "marriage".

I made the rules clear. "Until both my wolf and I fully accept this bond, don't get your hopes up. Don't expect more than this contract. And don't try to get close to me. If you do... there'll be consequences."

Todd's POV:Grandma didn't waste time. Just yesterday, Bella turned down those fancy "gifts", and now, she'd already set up this "meeting". Perhaps it would be more precise to call it a binding ceremony"Since the day he wolf was restless, pushing me over and over to had Bellato claim her. Grandma's plan fit perfectly with what my wolf wanted."Go! She's right there! Our mate! Seal the deal!" my wolf shouted excitedly in my mind."I know," I told it, trying to keep us both steady. Even though I felt the rush coming. I had to stay calm. I was the Alpha. I had to be in control. On the top floor of Glanden Tower, I saw her again. Even though only a day had passed, she looked different-like all the stress from yesterday had melted away. She wore a clean, off-white suit. Her hair was tied back neatly, showing the graceful line of her neck. She looked amazing. That unique scent she had-the one that always pulled me and my wolf in-felt even stronger now. When she saw me, I caught the s

Bella's POV:I turned down the elderly woman's "thank you" giftThe shiny, unusual jewels, old wooden carvings, gold bars, and that striking car key all made me uneasy.I'd only done what was right. I couldn't take something so extravagant. The matriarch didn't seem surprised at all by my refusal. If anything, her eyes showed even more approval. She didn't push me to accept, but as I walked away, she gave me a look that stuck with meThe next morning. I got a call from a number I didn't recognize"Ms. Shane, it's me." The voice was warm but carried clear authority"Hello. Is something wrong?" I was caught off guard."Since you wouldn't accept my gift, I'll thank you in another way Are you interested?""In what way?" A strange feeling stirred in my chest. This old lady felt far from ordinaryTve arranged for you to meet a fine gentleman. Marcus's POVI knew it Bella and her struggling family actually showed up at our door! They must've realized they pissed me off and wanted to beg for forgiveness. Hmph, at least she was clever enough to come in person.Listening to what Mom and Dad said, I felt pretty proud. Of course-a woman should know her place. She was an andrologist, for crying out loud. It sounded shady, and her paycheck? It was barely enough for anything. I was way out of her league, and she should count herself lucky for being able to marry me! Making her quit her job and hand over her money was totally reasonable!I was ready to watch her and her family crawl on their knees and beg, but Bella actually refused and said she'd rather stay single forever! How shameless! She had no money and just average looks She should be grateful to even be near someone like me. And yet, she acted like she was all high and mighty!Mom was right-she needed to be put in her place. Honestly.. I regretted only dumping water on
