She looked up at him in confusion and he said with a serious look in his eyes, "Xiaoxiao, I'm just an ordinary doctor and my monthly salary hovers at around 5,000 to 6,000 yuan a month. Are you sure you want to marry me? You should know that no matter how bad your reputation is, you are still the eldest daughter of the Yin family, so you could definitely find someone better."

She rolled her eyes at him and pulled her wrist from his grip. After she had handed her credit card to the cashier, she turned to him and said softly, "Jing Liyuan, don't you think it's too late for this? You've lost your chance to regret it."

She pressed her shopping bags firmly into his hands and said, "I will not shy away from my decisions once I've made up my mind. You shouldn't have agreed to my marriage proposal on an impulse. Now, there's no room for regrets!"

She turned and walked away without even stopping to wait for Jing Liyuan. She was planning to buy a more formal dress but Jing Liyuan didn't even give her a chance. He quickly caught up to her and took her hand in his.

Yin Xiaoxiao paused in surprise and looked at their intertwined hands before her gaze traveled up to meet his eyes.

"Yin Xiaoxiao, since we're all in this together, let's hang in there," Jing Liyuan looked at her and led her away from the mall. His eyes twinkled with merriment as he added, "Yin Xiaoxiao, may we have a happy marriage."

His words were simple but she felt as though a bomb had exploded next to her ear and the words kept replaying in her mind, ears, and heart, for a long while.

"May we have a happy marriage."

What did he mean by it?

She was still in a daze after he took her back to the car and turned to give him a careful once-over.

Did this mean that he was willing to try? Was he serious about giving their marriage a shot?

Jing Liyuan's spirits lifted when he saw how dazed she looked. He continued to smile as he drove and under normal circumstances, Yin Xiaoxiao would have been mesmerized by his smile, but today she was so focused on impressing his family that she didn't have the time to appreciate his beautiful smile.

By the time she came back to her senses, she had missed the opportunity to do so because they were now in front of the Jing family's house.

He quickly got out of the car and helped her open her door, carrying her gifts in his hand, giving her no chance to psych herself up to meet his family.

She got off the car, full of trepidation, and her knees almost gave way when she saw the building ahead of her.

Was this the Jing family's house? Jing Liyuan's home?

Yin Xiaoxiao was not from an ordinary family and even though she was not very highly regarded in the Yin family, it didn't mean that she was completely oblivious! This was nothing like the house she had imagined the Jing family to have!

Jing Liyuan closed the car door. Yin Xiaoxiao reached out and gave him a nudge as she asked, "Jing Liyuan, are you sure this is the right address? This can't possibly be your house.. right?"

Yin Xiaoxiao looked a little pale but she guessed that anyone else who was asked to show up here at such short notice would be equally flustered!

Jing Liyuan arched his brows slightly when he saw the look of disbelief on her face and asked softly, "What did you think my house would be like?"

Yin Xiaoxiao blinked and she was still unable to process the fact that he lived in such a grand house. She asked unthinkingly, "Shouldn't you be living in an ordinary but respectable neighborhood?"

Jing Liyuan didn't even bother hiding his smile this time. He held the hand that she had placed on his chest and led her toward the imposing building that seemed very ancient but well maintained.
