Gina's POV

“Ma'am, boss is here,” Alice informed me.

“Alright, where is he?” I asked her as I stood up from the bed. Turning around, she led me to the living room, where Derek was sitting comfortably on a couch. He looked busy on his phone as he paid little attention to his surroundings.

I cleared my throat to get his attention and he lifted his head up to spare me a quick glance before going back to what he was doing. I felt annoyed and confused as to what was so important in what he was doing on his phone that he looked so concentrated.

Walking to a seat in front of him, I sat down opposite him. “Why did you come so unexpectedly today?” I broke the awkward silence. He always gave me a call whenever he was coming but today was different. He came so unexpectedly which meant that he had something urgent to discuss, yet he was preoccupied with whatever he was doing on his cellphone to care.
